Anyone think it was weird when Behlen refers to the DC as family?

No, it's not wierd. Rica is a concubine to Bhelen. That means your entire family has been moved up, and basically family.

I took Zevran to the Pearl so he'd give me the earring there.

The way the conversation flowed and based on my warden's character, I would have accepted the earring on the first offer, but it's my understanding that I won't get to see Charsen's wedding scenes unless I got it on the second offer so I did that.

Just need to confront Anora and do the alienage before I decide how Landsmeet is going to pan out. I always have a rough idea, but I tend to listen to what the NPCs are saying and make my final decision there. Keeps things interesting.

Edit: So far, I have to say that my romance with Zevran feels the same as my other ones (i.e. no new revelations or insight), but because I enjoy playing dwarves that much, more I would say I'd favor my Brosca/Zev romance over my other elf/Zevran ones. I did like my elf mage + Zevran, but dwarf wins out and I'd like to keep this Brosca going into expansions if possible. I really liked the warrior thug and no-persuade angle.

I think he's being a cavetick by calling you brother/sister, and buttering you up. Considering Rica's "just" a courtesan.

Oh he's definitely being a smarmy ass, no doubt. I just figured if Gorim is considered an Aeducan (so he says in my DN epilogue when I say "So I'm an aeducan again" he says "as am I") as your second, concubine/courtesan with the child works around the same way.

Who? Lord Helmi? Harrowmont didn't actually screw him over, Vartag made that up.

If you don't/haven't hardened Alistair then breaking up with him because you don't have a future doesn't go so badly.

I can't remember if it was this thread of the Alistair that someone was mentioning the wanted to make a character appear to have a broken nose. But in my messing with the toolset today I played with the nose > bend/left or right and it does seem to work for that effect.

Finally finished Vera Brosca -- she definitely ranks right up there on my favorite playthroughs!

- DW warrior.
- Brute with no social skills.
- Crowned Bhelen.
- Sided with Zatharan. A deal is a deal (werewolves did not offer to help with Blight) so she brought back the heart so she could get her elven soldiers.
- Sacrificed Isolde since she was making a situation go from bad to worse and wasting lives that could be used for the army.
- Sided with Circle since she wanted to see what was going on upstairs first and game treated that as siding with mages. Cullen's mouthing off to Oghren didn't help his credibility.
- Romance choice was Zevran since he got on so well with the dwarves in the party. Easy person to be with.
- Suspicious of Anora. Wanted to verify Anora's info at the Alienage first before she'd talk with her. Reported to Eamon and then went to talk to Anora, but ship had sailed. There was no deal offered by Anora. She ended up betraying them at Landsmeet.
- Loghain called for their executions and Anora was not a good ally. Finished off Loghain and put Alistair on throne. (FYI: I usually spare Loghain so I don't want to hear any BS about killing Loghain for revenge, whatever. This game just played out differently.)
- Agreed to dark ritual because 1) Alistair WOULD take the final blow and then Anora would be back on the throne, which was a bad idea and 2) Morrigan was right that Zevran would want her to do the ritual to save her own life. Hard to argue with her logic this time. Alistair agrees to dark ritual, too.
- Asks for the dwarven boon, but stays in Denerim to help out Alistair because he specifically asked her to stay since she put him on the throne in the first place. Since he did do the ritual for her, no skin off her back to return the favor. He was her best mate.

Here is a list of all my failed persuade checks in the game on this character. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. If I was a shield warrior, I'd have been annoyed at not getting the Legion of Dead shield off Ruck.

Miscellaneous
- Failed to persuade Reverend Mother in releasing Sten. Threatened to conscript him. Failed THAT check since she wouldn't be caught helping Grey Wardens. Leliana finally stepped in.
- Failed to persuade Alistair in recruiting Zevran. Got a funny line about a kick to the head.
- Failed to intimidate Loghain's messenger so had to fight him off the Orzammar's front steps.

Paragon of Her Kind
- Failed to intimidate thug leader. Said Jarvia would kill him if he told me where she was so he went down swinging.
- Failed to persuade/calm Ruck so he went down fighting. Oh, well, no Legion of Dead shield.
- Failed to persuade Zevran in destroying the anvil. Got the "hard as a rock" line.

Circle
- Failed to persuade Carrol to take me across the lake. His superior won't know if I never get to see him to complain, right? Had to intimidate him to get across.
- Failed to get Oghren to defend himself against the hecklers in the Fade. Left me to fight them myself while he drowned his sorrows.

Warden's Keep
- Failed to lie/persuade Sophia for her to seal the rift first (she could smell the lie on me), failed to persuade her to go first anyway, and failed to persuade Sophia to sweeten the deal (i.e. no stash of gold in the end). Made it easier to just side with Avernus instead.
- Failed to persuade Avernus to see the height of his crimes (not that I cared, just wanted to see what he would say) and he scoffed at me as a moral judge.

Brecilian Forest
- Failed to persuade Mithra to take me to the Dalish leader. Had to state my business or turn around. Told her I was a warden and she ask how she'd know I was telling the truth. Failed to persuade her to take my word on it ("I don't trust you"), but she took me to Zath to let him decide what to do with me.
- Failed to lie to Lanaya that Zath said I could have whatever was in the chest. She called me on my BS.
- I was able to persuade Cammen to tell me what his problem was. GAAWWWWD. *facepalm*
- HOWEVER I did fail to persuade Cammen to show him "what he was missing." Phew.
- Failed to persuade Gheyna that it didn't matter what Cammen was as long as she loved him. She wasn't about to listen to an outsider.
- Failed to persuade Athras to tell me about his problems, but Zevran stepped in and changed his mind. That was unexpected.
- Failed to convince Swiftrunner I just wanted to talk.
- Failed to persuade Danyla to answer my questions. She couldn't "betray her" (lady of forest) so she just begged to die instead.
- Failed to persuade werewolves to attack elves.

Random Travels
- Successfully persuaded guy to let me deliver the message for "careless accusations" quest. (21 cunning)

Redcliffe
- Failed to persuade Bann Teagan in telling me more about himself. No flirtation to be had, alas. =(
- Failed to persuade and intimidate Dwyn in helping to defend the village. Had enough of me acting like I owned the place so he attacked.
- Failed to intimidate Owen in opening the door. "My axe in here says you won't. Just you try it, looter!" Had to kick it in.
- Failed to persuade Bevin to tell me why he was hiding in the closet. He ran off.
- Failed to persuade Berwick to tell me why he was in Redcliffe. He was about to head to the Chantry until I passed the follow-up intimidate check.
- Failed to intimidate Lloyd into defending the village. He gave me 80 silver to leave him alone, which I took. I still demanded he defend the village and he caved in. Also failed to get part ownership of the inn.
- Failed to persuade the Reverend Mother in blessing the amulets. (Intimidate will have her throwing me out and refusing to talk again.)
- Failed to persuade Alistair that I tried my best after having Lady Isolde killed. Lost 21 approval. (Did not antagonize him -- reacted to him as I would if he was my buddy Leske.)

Denerim
- Failed to persuade Isabela for a private tutoring session (she wasn't in the mood) so did the card game instead.
- Failed to get the madam to lower her prices so have to pay 40 silvers for services.
- Failed to persuade (lie) Ser Landry I wasn't a Grey Warden. Had to duel him behind Gnawed Noble.
- Failed to persuade the White Falcons to disperse from the Pearl. Fight ensued until they cried uncle. Made the leader empty his pockets before releasing them.
- Failed all cunning/persuade checks with Weylon about Brother Genitivi.
- Failed to persuade Paedan that Loghain framed the Wardens. Got mocked.

Honnoleath
- Failed to lie to demon.
- Failed to persuade Alistair in taking Shale with group.

Shale
- Failed to lie about Cairdin. (I sided with him so all I lost was approval, really.)

Fort Drakon
- Failed to persuade Vaughn to give me key first. (Didn't need it anyway.)

Alienage
- Failed to bribe the elf guard with 6 gold to let me in the back entrance. He asked for 12g or no deal.
- Failed to persuade Devera to take me directly to Calderus (slave trader).

Landsmeet
- Failed to persuade Ser Caulthren to see what Loghain has become. (Pretty sure it's auto-fail if you expose Anora in rescue anyway.)
- Failed to persuade Landsmeet that Blight was a threat. One noble was dubious (lost his vote).
- Failed to persuade Anora and Alistair to marry (did not arrange ahead of time). They both looked at me like I was joking.

Dark Ritual
- Failed two persuade checks in a row with Alistair, but he still agreed to do the ritual! <3

Archdemon - Denerim
- Failed to persuade Shianni and companion to stay and defend their homes. ("Easy for you to say, dwarf!")

If you side with Caridin then what do you need to lie about? And I've got to say, I do not approve of all these race-remarks Shianni makes.

She had too many questions about what happened and I didn't feel like answering them so I lied that I didn't know what happened to him. Simple.

Edit: And Shianni didn't make that remark, her companion did.

*Gives Gilsa a standing ovation* Ok, I'm just going to have to buck up and try it. maybe tomorrow, since Tryna is getting redone as a warrior. Maybe not zero persuade, but I'll try without maxing it out. All my girls get 30 cunning though, but thats just for extra dialogues. Those screenshots are amazing. And You can bribe Alienage guards? AND get straight to Cadrius? Do share!

When you run into Shianni at the alienage, you have the option of talking to the healers, the guards, or just going around the back where there's a lone elf guard watching the back entrance. I think you can intimidate or persuade the elf guard, I don't remember. Been a long time since I went that route. I just ended up paying him this time because money wasn't an issue for me. He was a hungry thug like me so I definitely understood his position. You don't get straight to Cadirus. You still have to persuade that elf, what's her name. I had to fight all the way to him. Eh.

I don't know that I'd do a zero persuade again unless it fits the character. I definitely got a lot of new lines as a result. My particular favorites were failing to convince Alistair to recruit Zevran and he talks about how we don't go around asking for a kick to the head. His animation has him putting his hand behind his neck and making a chopping motion, which was half the comedy. I was ROFLing when I saw it. The other one was Zevran joking about being perpetually hard if I made him into a golem.  Failing to persuade Alistair about Isolde made it feel like a real fight since he didn't back down from his position. He was justifiably mad and I wasn't any more irate with him as a result.

My only big losses were 1) not getting Legion of Dead shield from Ruck and 2) not being able to persuade a joint marriage if I had really wanted that for my game. Everything else seemed pretty trivial.

I've never managed to persuade the elf girl to take me straight to Caladrius although that's more 'I don't know how to get the dialogue' then failing a persuade check. I usually just make her leave.

I think I can handle a less persuade run. Thats pretty realistic for Tryna I think. She'd be street smart and intimidating, but she'll still have her betters. And probly be pissed about it too...lol I think, she's going to let that witch have the throne though. Let Alistair stay a warden. my only other friend-alistair ending was him as king on my city elf.

Alistair says you don't need Lyrium to use templar abilities...so I'm assuming a Dwarf can be a templar/Berserker warrior if she so chooses.

Aye, I have done that combo before. If you're already a templar before you talk to Alistair about being a templar, you get extra dialogue when he talks about the sharp uniforms and you can ask him where yours is. Otherwise you can pretend it's something he taught to you.

@KoP -- Aww, thanks! I just sat down writing everything about this playthrough in my notebook so I could remember her motivations/story when I import her into Awakening or whatever they have planned for February. Getting harder to remember what each character did and why.

Edit: Sarah, you need to select the line "I don't really care what you're up to" to unlock the persuade check in the slaver quest. She'll ask why you're even there and then you'll say "I'll explain it to whoever is in charge." Moral outrage or "get out of my way" type of dialogue is just going to lead to confrontation.

Before I go to bed...and hopefully sleep. Tryna is started over, as a warrior. Not as brave as Gilsa's No-persuade game, but low persuade this time. Will probably max it towards the end, as her learning how to do it.

Posted Image

Didn't take the "romantic" option with Leske. they're buds. Introduced to Olina as his Best Friend.

Posted Image

Gave Mam her Wine. Finding myself as the player torn between hating her...and wanting her to be a good Mom. So, that's how I played it with Tryna. As the daughter that smarts off as a defense mechanism, but still has that soft spot for the Mom she wished was more loving.

Posted Image

Scaring the barkeep/owner at Tapsters was really amusing! Missed that the first time. Loved her intimidating posture.

Posted Image

Freaked Leske right the hell out by asking Jarvia if she was sleeping with Beraht, right after asking her who she was. I saw it as a jab at the wannabe queen bee.

Tomorrow...I'll cause the nobility a heart attack in the proving.
