That's exactly what I was thinking. It makes the promises of dwarf LIs kind of... yeah. The whole point is people wanted a dwarf for their dwarf (not that humans or elves wouldn't romance that character too).

I don't know soignee they might release DLC where your Warden characters undergo a very crappy calling in which they die all alone in a cutscene with no friends or lovers at their side. Just think about it they can re-use all the assets from the deep roads and have another Darkspawn Chronicles level hack and slash fest with no dialogue at all!

DA2 is in the future, both in game and in real life so I sorta fail to see your point. Besides if they're taking the fanchise in this direction are they really going to then back pedal for DA3 and let you be whatever race you want. I think not.

As a non-dwarf I could not romance a dwarf as I would feel that my character was unworthy.

At least Bioware has abandoned all pretenses that they will make a game with another origin save for the human one.

Honestly I am still trying to figure out a solid reason as to why my non-HN characters kill Howe...

Well, you need to kill the mage in the room with him to free Anora and he won't stop attacking you. Why WOULDN'T you kill him? He doesn't seem like ally potential and as an Arl and Loghain's biggest supporter, you'll need to get him out of the way for the Landsmeet.

You can find out Howe was responsible for the Purge in the Alienage as a CE at least. During the confrontation between your party with Arl Eamon and "Big Three" Adversaries (Loghain, Ser Cauthrien and Howe) you can tell Howe you know what he did to the Alienage. He replies with a typical elitiest human response (how elves should be put down like rats) which you can say you are going to kill him, etc before Cauthrien calls you a "churl".
