Gaming is WAY popular, but I don't know why, most women I know don't do gaming. They usually stay on messenger and social networking sites all day.

There are also geeks and, of course, ladies that don't have time for games (lol).

But I still know a few that ARE receptive to games, so life isn't totally horrible I guess.

Yeah, it isn't....but most women still think you are odd for it...

They consider it a "guy" thing just like beer and football...

Hmm, I'd say 1/2 of my ladies game. Does Wii count? I know srsbzn gamers think we should all be back in our momma's basements and THAT GAMES SHOULD BE FOR GAMERS ONLY.

Also go poke the Ali/Zev threads and say not many women game. I WANT TO SEE THE LULZ.

I'm sitting in class right now listening to two girls arguing about whether Kairi is a waste of space or not.

You do realize there are only about a hundred people posting on the Dragon Age forums right? That's not exactly a good count.

Hell if I also include the Mass Effect 2 forums then I would probably reach 1.000 women.

Take a note on the girls thing....

My Warden of River Dane story....I think it would be better if I had a woman say a few lines ( like accepting Zevran's proposal....and other things ) still in the planning stages but I like to plan far ahead :P.

What do you mean? Guys play Kingdom Hearts, too, and many people hate Kairi.

Oh for the love of...while some people may find being called a girl or boy as an adult to be offensive, it's just my way of referring to males and females. Image IPB

I would hazard a guess that most men aren't gamers, either, and might look at you oddly if you brought up gaming as a hobby.

*plays Mother*

You try explaining to people you write fanfiction. HAHHHAHA >.>

"Soignee, what are you writing in your lunchbreak? That's a long email, lol."

Or, my perticular favourite, "Why are you drawing that woman again?"

They do. Only the people nearest to me knows about my geekyness, or those people that I expect to never meet, or that I assume have equal or greater values of it.

It is easier to hide when you're not creative.

One of the benefits of being an engineer - we're ALL geeks here.

some things are socially acceptable in my circles that are geeky. Vintage geekery **** is now cool, especially musical equipment and weird ass Casio watches. Some comics are too- visual industries appreciate them, anyway.

BAPE is an example of fashion geekery, so is threadless.com. Now that's technically how much geek I show off at work, anyway.

The dudebro contingency level of marketing (lol Dragon Age with ANGRY GUITARS in the trailer, shooting stuff, WoW, etc) is lol'd at, and often. And since they're the loudest mouth to feed in the gaming community (or so say the execs) then people who I think would love them are turned off.

Say it's writing practise. I've explained it that I'm not quite ready to write My Next Greatest Novel (lulz) and that I'm playing with literary lego until I'm confident enough to move onto the actual thing.

We got a fully fledged world to play in, and thanks to the set up of how DA:O is and the concept of RPGs, we can take the lore and bend it into our universe happily.

*raises hand* same here. I was so happy at my previous project when one of my female collegues was totally into GuildWars. We would have coffeebreaks together where she would rave about GW and the upcoming GW2 and I would rave about DA:O and DA:A.

*sigh* at my current project they would think I've gone nuts if I talked about gaming.....

Tell them money isn't exactly something you see as a motivation and that you like the act of creation.
