Even if Branka locks herself up with the golems it's still better for the dwarf race as a whole than destroying it. Another block to atleast slow down the tides of darkspawns before they reach Ozramar. So my dwarf didn't have anything against that ending. He is in Orlais having a great time with Leiliana anyway so he don't care much about the dwarves anymore.

I think executing Alistair is more rotten, especially since you can demand Anora to spare him. But my dwarf could not tolerate his attitude in the Landsmeet; his speech of "I will be King if you kill Loghain" to be rather distasteful. I chose similar options like leaving Redcliffe to burn just because I stopped by to get Sten's sword.

It was my first "evil" playthrough but I had a lot of fun.

That's not evil. Putting Harrowmont on the throne and keeping the Anvil is evil.

Meta-gaming wise it can be. I can see a lawful DN do that thinking it would be the best for Orzammar.

Either one could be I suppose but both? Really? With Branka all crazy and Harrowmont all 'whatever the Paragon wants' and implying he'd concede if she picked Bhelen?

oops Sorry I meant putting Harrowmont on the throne.

THat Run was just trying to screw up all of Fereldan as much as possible, I also romanced Leliana and killed her at the urn as well, that sucked since I had no rouges that run.

Exactly! And Harrowmont doesn't even protest to his own execution when you side with Bhelen.

I talked to Harrowmont about Branka and I do not recall him saying that line, but then I am horrible at remembering things. I never said it was the sane choice ;)

But really I think allowing Bhelen to go crazy with the anvil cranking out golems is not exacting what a good aligned player would choose. I think of it as giving a dictator a new play toy.

Nah Alistair is the one who likes dolls.

I just loaded an old save and Harrowmont never stated that he would concede if Branka chose Bhelen in his dialogue. Maybe because I backstabbed him by working with Bhelen in secret?

His Feastday gift is a GW puppet I think though. and MOrrigans was a Alistair vodoo doll.

Why does he get cheesed at the Ferelden Lineage book, since it ends with Maric is he mad that it didnt include Cailan.

It was probably published before Cailan was born. I thought he was upset that you're giving him a pointed 'you're going to be King' gift when he didn't want to be.

I think he does not want any reminders about his Theirin lineage.

If I remember correctly, it's because the book is counterfeit. The title has words misspelled.

I admit, Branka's whole speech about "The Anvil will let us reclaim our glory!" really did convince me to keep the Anvil.

I was disappointed she screwed up by stopping the production of Golems. I wanted a dictator with a massive golem army to push back the dark spawn for my evil play through. Instead she locks herself in her fortress.

Same here.

Up until the point I remembered the various injuries I suffered during the fight with the Broodmother . . .

MAGE VS GOLEM

WHO

IS

DEADLIEST!

No but seriously in the long term mages are a better force against DS to me. Golems while awsome fall easily to a mage since Cone of Cold and Crushing Prison put an end to them.

What about the rest of you? Is getting Golems or Mages better for Orzamar against the DS.

Those mages make both the "hold the gate" part of the quest and the Alienage a breeze.

In my experience anyway.

The line that convinced me the most was:
Look around is this what our empire should be! Crumbling tunnels filled with Darkspawn spume?"

You have seen that show too?

When I called out the Golems late in the battle against the Archdemon, they barely moved and I had to kill the AD before Irving got the death blow. I never called the Mages yet on the PC but I remember people saying they like throwing fireballs and other AOE attacks. I hate fireballs so whom do I pick: the sloth-like golems or the crazy mages who like throw fireballs? If the mages uses fireballs, I would take golems since they do not cause friendly fire damage.

The trick is to use them in the appropriate places.

Market - Humans

Alienage - Dalish/Werewolves

Holding the gate - Mages/Templars

The Palace - Dwarfs/Golems

Fort Drakon - Whatever

Dalish work best on Fort Drakon since they constantly hit the AD for me at least/

I think golems are better because they are simply cooler looking than mages. And besides I belive it's the more dwarvish style to unleash golems on your enemy than those silly glass cannons.

I hated the Golems in the final, they moved so slow and hit so slow they were only there as a giant shield wall in most cases.

The Legion of the dead do a much better job strangely enough. Besides Kardol is like 10 golems anyway.
