A dwarf templar eh? Huh interesting.

And this is how Oghren should have been in Awakening. A total dwarven badass

Shhh, don't question her. She gets angry when her illusions are deflated....

@Soignee- maybe it's because of prominent people like Aimo focusing so much on dwarves that people get interested? Or because people already played through all the other origins and finally decided to try dwarves then got excited about them? Either way, it does seem like they've picked up, which is great. People are making some great stuff with those luscious curves.

The achievement of making dwarves popular for the first time is greater than that of bringing them back. I see it as a positive.

Dwarf commoner is the most fun. Your the underdog, you start off lower than dirt and make yourself a hero. You're also ugly, you're short, in a world of taller people.

everyone wants to be the "LOLOLOLOL I IZ HANDSOME HERO NOBLE, PRINCESS" or "LOLOLOLOL pew pew fireballz badass MAGE" or "LOLOLOOL HOT EYE CANDY ELF LEGOLAZ HE SHOOTS ARROWS fast pew pew"

I wish I could make fat characters, that would be fun. I like characters with flaws, not impossibly hot dreamy warriors.

Why hasen't the Chantry thought of this before? With their natural resistance to magic and with Templar training, Dwarves can become the ultimate mage killing machines.

The problem being that dwarves aren't generally Andrastian.

Why haven't they sent a missionary like Brother what's his name Burkel before? Many dwarves do become Andrastians.

The Chantry doesn't seem to be making any effort, the blasted fools.

And that they are more resistant to lyrium, which the Templars are forced to use. Not completely immune, but it still makes things more difficult.

Templars don't need lyrium, as pointed by Alistair himself. However I would argue that having a resistance to lyrium would make them much more effective, as they could generally last to a longer age without going insane.

Then again making people like Oghren templars sorta is.....

You say that they haven't tried? Wouldn't the chantry want the dwarves on their side? Having all the lyrium they'd want without having to cut deals.

My guess is that they have tried and failed spectacularly, like brother Burkel.

Aah, yes. Excellent point.
It's much harder to get them addicted (the Lyrium needs to make contact with the blood). And even still, is Garin addicted or just adorably unstable?

Alstair didn't need lyrium. It enhances their abilities, but it isn't necessary. And dwarves aren't that resistant to lyrium that they can stand and breathe in handfuls.

Breathe in lyrium - it gets into blood stream via lungs.

Brother Burkel succeeded in my playthrough. There is a large Dwarven Andrastian minority and they are pissed that Burkel's been martyred. It shows that some dwarves can become devout Andrastians. The Chantry just needs to finance it better.

Brother Burkel only succeeds if you talk the Shaper into it and he is only willing to discuss the matter with you because of your Grey Warden status and, in my playthroughs at least, only for the sake of the charities for the widowed and orphaned.

As is now, the ones in power wouldn't stand anything to gain by converting. As long as they won't allow it, there isn't much a few protesters can do, more than start bloody rebellions.

And then the chantry would loose their supply line of lyrium.

But you can intimidate and threaten him with an invasion if he doesn't. And since the Chantry already deals with the Dwarves in Lyrium trade, they can use that as leverage and try to subtly force their position. Eventually, the Shaper will have to listen to non-Wardens.

I would find it hard to believe that the Chantry never tried to do this. Perhaps they did  and failed, which shows us their incompetence.

EDIT: The Dwarves are just as dependent on Lyrium trade as the Chantry, perhaps even more so. I find it hard to believe that the only source of yrium is Orzammar, while there are lyrium being used all over Thedas.
There is the Dwarven city in Orlais, as a secondary source.

The song they're dancing to is either a Bollywood dance number, or House of Pain's Jump Around on ukelele (which I heard just now...strangly badass in its folksy glory).
