Can a DN have any interaction with Rica? Does she still have baby Endrin in that storyline? Wouldn't that make them related.....? Sorta?

After you side with Bhelen the two girls gossiping in the Diamond Quarter reveal that Bhelen has a son but the mother is casteless, so I'm thinking yes. The world is exactly the same and the Origins play out, the only difference is where Duncan was and who becomes the Warden. The DN can briefly meet Rica when they walk by Bhelen's room in the Origin and she comes out to see if Bhelen's back, before retreating back into the room. Talk to her and she'll freak out that she bothered you and when you give her leave, she'll leave the palace.

And all origins can read the letter from Rica to Bhelen IIRC.

Maybe I'm just a optimist, but I thought that he might actually care for Rica, so he might tell her the truth about what he was feeling, about being heartbroken about his father sending him away.

We don't know he lied about that, just that he gives an overly-positive account of himself. He does, for instance, blame the DN entirely for the mess with Trian and Harrowmont for stirring up the rumors and turning his father against him. If he didn't care at all about her, he probably wouldn't bother.

Usually it's just because my characters don't like weak people to rule but for my DN I'm having a hard time coming up with a reason. Which is why I haven't gotten past Ostagar

Bhelen just played the game better and a DN should be able to understand that, even if they're still pissed at being sealed into the Deep Roads to die (especially DNF after they've seen Laryn) and Harrowmont is trying to usurp the throne. Does the DN really want to take their family out of power? And you can still not like weak rulers.

And all origins can read the letter from Rica to Bhelen IIRC.

And since the DN can find the letter during the Origin but the other Origins can't find it until a year later, he clearly held onto it. More proof that he does give a damn. Although Rica claiming Bhelen was devoted to his family was rather immersion-breaking, since his sister would tend to disagree.

It was suprising how he kept calling the DN's baby's momma "****" and some other stuff I don't recall, and some pejorative terms for the baby himself. I thought he was better than that; It was very irritating, and you can't throw his Rica thing back in his face (although those sorts of game are apart from the main agenda of the DN's conversations with Bhelen, so I understand)

Found the DN's encounter with Rica at the start of origins. There were only two VO comments written down.

Rica: "My Lord Bhelen? Oh! Oh, I'm sorry... I am so sorry, your Highness." (VO: Hesitance, turning into shock and then abject contrition at seeing someone who far, far outranks her. Awkward.)

And after she's told that Bhelen is at the feast:

Rica: "Yes, of... of course. It was presumptuous of me to think that he would return to--I am sorry." (VO: She realizes her high-born lover isn't coming to see her today and is sheepish for hoping that he would.)

Oooh I just talked to those noble hunter chicks. No matter either origin I just like Rica... she's just so kind and gentle despite all the chaos, death and political BS that's in Orzzmar....

Wait.... Harrowmont's the one who has the casteless system, and the rocky politics? Ugh. My FDN hates how the caste system works.....

All of Orzzamar needs a political revamp......

Totally decided I like Behlen even playing a DN.  I mean.... I think Gorim was right.... Behlen simply played the game better, and being noble born that was almost 99.9% garanteeed you'd be stabbed by somebody...

I never bothered to know Harrowmont on my city elf run.... but he sure was nice to the DN before you're chucked into the deep roads though Image IPB

Well... there goes that idea down the toliet. Harrowmont sounds worse than Behlen and I destory the Anvil O_O

Lemme guess.... Behlen still thinks you're a threat no matter what right...? I really try to RP as a nice girl and no hard feelings about the traitor thing....

What DO Bhelen and Harrowmont have to say about DN's child? I assume Harrowmont is more polite about it?

The payoff of my DN finishing Bhelen was more anti-climatic and less satisfying than HN beating Arl Howe...

Completed both as dwarf commoner female and Dwarf Noble male. Both sexually active with the other party members. It was funny to watch Alistair sacrifice himself on the alter of true love for my little dwarf girl. But, not half as funny as the relationship my wife's DNM got on with Zev.

I think DCF is going to make a return visit in Awakenings.

What DO Bhelen and Harrowmont have to say about DN's child? I assume Harrowmont is more polite about it?

(Bhelen is asking for help in taking down Jarvia.)

DN: "If I help you, I want you to help my son."
(If persuade +2) Bhelen: "Your son? What are you-- Oh, that's rich. You're talking about that casteless girl, aren't you?" (VO: amused, smirking)
Bhelen: "The one that came around claiming an Aeducan son. That was yours? I never figured you for that sort of man." (VO: Amused that his brother has vices.)
Bhelen: "But put me on the throne and I'll give the wh*** and her brat the Aeducan name, and a lovely room in the smallest palace." (VO: Off-handed, condescending)

(Alternate version without the persuade check)
DN: "If I help you, I want you to help my son."
Bhelen: "Your son? What are you-- Oh. Oh, that's rich. You're talking about that casteless girl who came around claiming to have an Aeducan son." (VO: amused, smirking)
Bhelen: "Well, Brother, I can't agree to raise a condemned criminal's casteless brat into House Aeducan." (VO: enjoying insulting the player)
Bhelen: "Perhaps if you help me regain the throne, I'll reconsider. But I can't make any promises before then." (VO: condescending, insulting)

(When the DN returns after killing Jarvia)

Bhelen: "They're talking all over the city about how someone finally went through Dust Town and slaughtered the carta like genlocks." (VO: smug, smirking)
DN: "Then you will give my son his place?"
Bhelen: "When I take the throne, I'll give you troops for the Blight and a shiny Aeducan coat of arms for your by-blow." (VO: Pleased, but waving him off)

(When Bhelen is crowned king)

Thank you, you shall have your troops, blah blah blah

Bhelen: "Now, I have much to do. If there is nothing else..." (VO: busy)
DN: "And my son? He will be cared for now?"
Bhelen: "Yes, yes, I already have the girl and her brat set up in a room in the smallest palace." (VO: sounds exasperated and dismissive)
Bhelen: "Don't worry, Brother. The boy will grow up hearing what a hero his father was." (VO: a little snide, mock sincere)
Bhelen: "And if you die in the Blight, I'll be sure the wh*** wears sackcloth for at least a day." (VO: mock-sincere)
Bhelen: "Now, I must address my other petitioners. Come back and visit sometime."

Alternate dialogue (I'm not sure what conditions trigger this one or the previous one, but here they are)

Bhelen: "Now, I have much to do. If there is nothing else..." (VO:  busy)
DN: "And my son? He will be cared for now?"
Bhelen: "Sure, send the **** and her brat to me. I'll make sure they take the name and a nice room in the smallest palace." (VO: mock generous)

And if you wait until Bhelen is crowned to spring the news of your son onto him, this is the dialogue that follows::

Bhelen: "Now, I have much to do. If there is nothing else..." (VO: busy)
DN: "I need one more favor. Accept my son into House Aeducan."
Bhelen: "Your son? What do you-- Oh, that is rich. You mean that casteless girl, don't you? The one claiming to have an Aeducan son." (VO: smirking, amused)
Bhelen: "I never thought you had it in you, Brother. But after what you've done, I can afford to be magnanimous." (VO: smirking)
Bhelen: "Sure, send the wh*** and her brat to me. I'll make sure they take the name and a nice room in the smallest palace." (VO: amused. no rancor when he says wh*** or brat)
Bhelen: "Now, I must address my other petitioners. Come back and visit sometime."

--------------------------------------

(Harrowmont needs help in taking down Jarvia)

DN: "My son has been denied noble status. Can you help him?"
Harrowmont: "A son? I did not... your father didn't know of any son. I suppose the girl has... no status of her own?" (VO: Surprised, trying to handle this situation with delicacy in order not to offend anyone.)
Harrowmont: "If you help me take the throne, I promise I will formally adopt the child into my household." (VO: Determined and sincere. Honorable.)

(When the DN returns after killing Jarvia)

Harrowmont: "I heard the news. Jarvia and her carta are dead. I suppose it was unrealistic to expect them to surrender."
DN: "Now, can you help my son? He was denied noble status."
Harrowmont: "Yes, I made a promise and I intend to keep it."

(After Harrowmont is king)

Harrowmont: "Now, if you'll excuse me, I must get to the palace and set our plans in motion." (VO: business like)
DN: "And my son? He will be cared for?"
Harrowmont: "Tell your lover to bring me the child and they will both have a place in House Harrowmont." (VO: warm and welcoming)
Harrowmont: "It is the least I can do for your father's grandson." (VO: warm)

(If you spring the news on Harrowmont for the first time after he is crowned)

Harrowmont: "A son? I did not... your father didn't know of any son. I suppose the girl has... no status of her own?"
Harrowmont: "Tell your lover to bring me the child and they will both have a place in House Harrowmont." (VO: warm and welcoming)
Harrowmont: "It is the leastI can do for your father's grandson." (VO: warm)

Nope, he doesn't see you as a threat the moment you walk into Orzammar. Vartag won't believe you at first glance ( and you need to persuade him a bit ) , but once you do the first quest and meet Bhelen he is surprised to see you sided with him. He will get angry if you ask him why he turned on you.

...If I ever play a DNM and half a son, I am SO siding with Harrowmont. I mean, really, he'll have a much better life than with Bhelen.

I finished a dwarf noble playthrough who romanced Zev. I have a playthrough for a casteless dwarf that will romance Alistair.

I love dwarves. It's the elves I have a hard time getting into and playing, and haven't completed an elf playthrough yet.

While I was checking out those trees for Bhelen and Harrowmont, I found some interesting dialogue that apparently was buried. Best I can guess is that Landsmeet wasn't originally going to be after all three treaties were fulfilled. (Right click image if it's too small to read.)

And after looking around some more, it sort of sounds like Bhelen was going to go on the lam after Harrowmont gets crowned and the PC would have the option of tracking him down for a final confrontation.

Oh, and I'm looking at some of the trees between Dulin and Harrowmont. Looks like we were originally going to be able to find proof that Bhelen hired mercenaries to kill Trian while in Jarvia's hideout.

Here are some dialogues:

Dulin: "I hear Jarvia will be troubling us no longer. I assume that's what you're here to tell me?"
PC: "I found these papers. Mercenaries were hired to kill Trian."
Dulin: "Hmm. It's as we suspected, but still somehow chilling. To call so coldly for his brother's death..."
Dulin: "Bhelen is a monster. I'm glad you will help us make sure he does not rule."
Dulin: "If you're ready, Lord Harrowmont will see you now."

Harrowmont: "The word publicly is that you support my enemy, but Dulin promises you've sworn yourself to us."
Harrowmont: "I always prayed one of Endrin's children would stay true. Have you finally turned your back on Bhelen's treachery?"
(* if DN did not kill Trian) PC: "I bring you evidence that Bhelen killed Trian."
(*if DN did kill Trian) PC: "I have evidence that Bhelen sent mercenaries against me."
Harrowmont: "I am glad Endrin did not live to see this. The suspicion destroyed his life; the proof would have crushed his soul."
Harrowmont: "I would have preferred that you come to me before slandering me to some of the highest placed families in Orzammar."
Harrowmont: "But with this evidence of Bhelen's depravity, we should be able to work out a mutual arrangement, if not trust."
