I've been traipsing around these stupid tunnels for three days and am getting mad. Today, i just got fed up with the line after line of darkspawn and sent my rogue through in the shawdows, till i reached the brood mother, killed her and then snuck around the other darkspawn till I reached Branka and am now at the end with the anvil and the big fight with golems..., where Branka attacks you or fights with you. I'm considering leaving because I'm out of elfroot and potions, my invo is full, and I've almost had enough of these stupid deep roads... This whole running around in deep roads started off as pretty cool, now I'm (sorry to be blunt) pissed. The roads keep going on and the darkspawn keep coming. I know I'm in the deep roads but a little help would be so cool... I guess I'm just asking for some advice.

It helps if you hold off on the Deep Roads until last in terms of doing the quests. They can be pretty grueling, especially if your character levels are still in the low teens. Going back after killing the Broodmother to restock/unload isn't a bad idea either if you need too.

Agreed with Tribefaninnc it would be better to wait near the end of the quests to do it. I always waited to the deep roads last since I take Alistair, Shale and Oghren with me. By then everyone has good armor and has leveled up quite a bit. I would highly recommend equipping Maric's and Duncan's blades to those who can use them. They weaken darkspawn and have bonus stats on them. Any high ranking runes you can get enchanted onto swords I recomended as well. I play a rogue and when I took the 3 tanks with me I actually was able to use my archery abilities while they did the heavy fighting. I also set their tactics to handle multiple groups of enemies. To "knock on wood" this play through the deep roads was almost easy. Good luck!

just make sure you take all lyrium veins fast since branka regens on them.

Where are Duncan's blades? I think I missed those.
Also, on my third time through I picked up on what Branka was doing. First I thought it was strange she kept running to them. I didn't expect the game AI would do that...

Ruck will purchase goods back in his hole-in-the-wall. I have been known to look him up a couple of times when in the Roads with a full inventory.

The ogre has Duncans blades and Kings chest holds Maric's Sword. Both swords have weaken and damage darkspawn stats. Duncan's dagger has +10 damage to dragons. Anyone in my party that can use them I keep them equipped with those blades for darkspawn battles. Also I highly recommend you keep those in your inventory if you import your character into Awakenings, including any grey warden weapons from the vault. I did and gave Sigurn Marics blade and I kept the other 2, the darkspawn were dropping left and right. You get higher tier weapons in awakening but I found the ones from Origins were just as effective.

What exactly is going on when you use lyrium veins. I just get that stupid "oh my spell" line from a non-spell caster and that's it...Aezeal wrote...

Its like sucking down a lyrium potion. Handy if you're out of pots.

If you're short on potions, just go back to Orzammar and buy some. You can only do this BEFORE you go to the Anvil of the Void. Everyone seems to think once you're in the Deep Roads, you have to stay there until it's all done. Not so. I've gone back to Orzammar to off-load, re-equip and even see Sandal to enchant with new runes I've found before going back into the Deep Roads.

In fact, you can unlock the Anvil of the Void area, turn back and even do some other main quest before returning. It's the meeting with Branka that locks you in and makes it so that you must have Mr. Fernet er.. Oghren in the party from that event on.

The deep roads are one of my favorite parts of the game. Seriously...tons of darkspawn to kill while traveling around in dark caves & ancient ruins, how could that be bad?!

The Deep Roads are truly an old-fashioned dungeon crawl and can be a bit grueling. If you're in the cavern with Branka and Caridin, you can't leave until that fight's over. Even though you'll have friendly golems on your side, you'll still have
to deal with Branka. She's no pushover. It's a tough fight, there's no
doubt about it. So, let me offer a few general tips.
Anyone can use the lyrium veins, and they'll restore some health and, of course, mana. Using the veins before Branka can get to them is key, so pause frequently to see where she is then move a character over there to use the lyrium. You don't mention your party composition. Are you soloing as a rogue? Can you combat stealth? If so, stealth may be the way to go. If you have a regular party with a damage-dealing mage like Morrigan, it's actually easier. Let the rest of the party deal with Branka while your mage casts spells and uses those lyrium veins. You can do the same thing with an archer -- keep him/her at distance firing away and using whichever lyrium veins are closest to Branka before she can get to them.
Lastly, you may have to revert to an earlier save, leave, unload and restock, then head back for the final confrontation. Good luck!

Side with Branka - it's a much easier fight, the golems are great in the final battle and they'll help save the dwarves from extinction!

Heh... it's easier (maybe) unless you have Shale in your group.
