I can't get the mouse wheel to zoom the camera?

I just got a new computer and installed Dragon Age Origins so things are kind of up in the air, but I can't get the camera to zoo with the mouse wheel.
I just checked and the button is set in the standard mode.
I also checked and the wheel is working in Aion, and normal use such as scrolling windows etc.
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.
I did get the camera to zoom by setting it to the up down keys.
Anyone have any ideas about how I could fix this, it would be nice to use the wheel instead of the keyboard.

I think it affects 64-bit Vista/7 users with Microsoft mice.

I set it to work with the up down arrow keys.
I'm still setting up the new computer anyway and I don't have time to really get in and play for a couple of days.

I've given up trying to get my Microsoft mouse to work (Comfort Optical 3000v1.0) and switched to an older, less comfortable mouse to play this game. Still using same HID-compliant driver, but this one works just fine for scrolling in Dragon Age.

I have tried to fix this errant behaviour but have been forced to revert to an older 3 button wired optical.
This jerky mouse movement was in my nwn2 game with a wireless mouse but I thru that away and now this new (for me) optical comfort 3000 is basically going the same way, I knew trouble was coming when Windows 7 refused to load the software disc and installed the download.
I read a post about choosing a generic PS 2 when installing but I have yet to try and then its not the solution.

Has to be the game, because it works fine elsewhere.

But then, the mouse is older than my computer

A work around is to install your mousedrivers and software, and switch your mouse from your mouse type to a Generic USB mouse.
For example, I have Microsoft Comfort Optical Mouse 3000 in reality. These are my mouse drivers:
http://www.microsoft...e&sku=D1T-00002
Once installed and your computer possibly rebooted, I manually switch my connect device to Basic Optical Mouse 2.0 and it fixes the problem.
This should most likely / probably work for any mouse you may have because these are just generic mouse drivers that are being installed.
Let me know how it goes!

Essentially when you scroll your mouse, it sends a value positive for one direction and negative for another. WM_MOUSEWHEEL states these are sent in increments of WHEEL_DELTA. So alot of companies just take that value as a scroll increment, HOWEVER if you read further down it states:
The delta was set to 120 to allow Microsoft or other vendors to build finer-resolution wheels in the future, including perhaps a freely-rotating wheel with no notches. The expectation is that such a device would send more messages per rotation, but with a smaller value in each message. To support this possibility, you should either add the incoming delta values until WHEEL_DELTA is reached (so for a delta-rotation you get the same response), or scroll partial lines in response to the more frequent messages. You could also choose your scroll granularity and accumulate deltas until it is reached.
So they're SUPPOSED to build up the values until they reach 120 or more and send it in increments, keeping the left over to build up again. I could probably fix this bug in dragon age in 2 minutes. The irony is, as time goes along, more high resolution mouses will be coming out so the bug will become wider spread.

Its a a issue with microsoft mouses that have tilt scrolling you will to need uninstall intellipoint and reinstall it selecting a mouse that doent have tilt scrolling like basic optical or intellimouse explore 3.
Yup. That's the fix. I was having the same issue in NWN2. I just changed my mouse type to one that doesn't have tilt wheel and it works fine now.
