*SIGH* I didn't poke at the Liara thread, i poked at the Tali thread to get a comparison. Experiment may not be the scientifically correct name for it, but that is what I called it. You and most of this thread have ignored the main point in favor of the minor details. This thread is supposed to be about how you shouldn't judge people by their reputations but you all have made it about Tali fans vs Liara fans. I don't understand why everyone doesn't just read the OP, understand why I wrote it, and stop flaming me.
All I'm doing is bringing light to a problem I have seen multiple times on these forums. I am also just trying to say that people aren't always who they appear to be. It is a cultural message and it is telling the reactiion I am getting. Some people just don't want to be shaken from their ways. I'm done here, humanity sucks.
What is it about those Tali fans...

you make it out to be that posting the tali blowup doll is an act of blasphemy. and if you don't care, why do u keep replying?
btw, the irony runs deep
but u make it out to be as if tali is ur friend(a real one) or that tali is u.
i thought tali was a video game char
I wasn't implying that
it was to you, shows what kinda mind you have
how on earth did you come to that conclusion? the sentence was implying you had a dirty mind, it was implying you are pessimistic

Ok, then it was an honest mistake, can we just drop it. I'm tired of having to look at humanity.fortunesque wrote...

All the bit about the Liara fans was supposed to do was give context to why I conducted a social experiment. If I had said that i went to the tali thread and asked them a random question, then the whole point of the thread would have been lost. It is supposed to be about how you shouldn't judge others rashly, and I needed a counter-example to support my point. Otherwise it would just have been about how some random tali fans responded favorably to an experiment, which is all well and good but it doesn't say anything about what I wanted to say.fortunesque wrote...

I don't think it negates it. I said something that literally transpired. you attached connotation to it. I didn't say that the Liara thread was bad, you attached that implication. No it wasn't my intent. If people just read my post and took it literally, things would be so much easier. I spend time wording my posts to ensure they say exactly what I want them to say, and everyone seems to think I mean something I didn't say.
I didn't attach connotation to it; I attached the proper context to it. If someone doesn't attach the proper context to what they see and hear, miscommunication takes place. I took your post literally and it literally said that Liara fans threatened you and that you were surprised by that. So, if the topic isn't about the Liara fans, then don't post about them. Simple as that.
I don't think that you would have lost your point about Tali fans being nice folks by omitting the Liara thread incident. As is, the snippets about the Liara thread are actually detracting from your original intent; multiple posters other than myself have been distracted from the OP by the Liara thread reference.

Going into a fan thread where people really like a character and even being 'polite' and just expressing an opinion gets annoying for people when it starts to dominate the topic and turn people away from what they wish to talk about. Perhaps you should have started a new thread expressing your feelings and waiting to see what happened rather than potentially screwing up the enjoyment of people because you wanted to 'experiment'. Seems pretty selfish to me.
On occasion, I have been able to get decent responses out of Tali fans and other li fans in their own threads. It's all in the approach, the timing, or luck. I don't hate any li or the fans, I'm more wary of some threads than others, but in the end, let them be. This is a forum for entertainment, it's not a laboratory for sociologists.

I've ventured into the Tali thread a few times and I've been horrified every time. Just to name a few I've seen someone wanting a real doll of Tali, horrifying fan art, people talking about her like she is a real person, people wondering what she smells and feels like, people talking like they are really having a relationship with her.
