Anyone else starting to get the feeling that the only ones who are going to get any substantial items are those who troll forums endlessly for the 500 points a day?  I responded to every single twitter post and was selected only once out of like 13 tries.  Have yet to reach 7000 points and I am guessing a majority of people will have my same point count, thus hindering my abilities to get any good items.  I am guessing most people have a job/school/etc so endless spam is not a viable option, so one is left to rely upon the twitter posts, but alas I fail there as well.

Meh, if the contest dies it will be because of BioWare's mishandling and bad choices.

yep. don't worry, it looks as if most people with high counts are going to be stripped of their tokens before the auction starts. so as long as you get your link out there, you could have a chance at a something.

Added on to what they said, it also depends on if the people with 15,000 points work or are at school when computers are being auctioned. You and someone with 2000 points might be the only ones on then, so I guess it's true that anything could happen.

I wouldn't worry about it...this whole year is a celebration of their 15th anniversary, I'm sure there 's probably more stuff to do. Besides you can always vote at Escapist site ..in the Bioware vs Blizz contest, there are prizes to be won there too. :)

Fireballs are still being tossed around, we've just been aiming so that their AoE is only hitting one thread.
Friendly fire is a !@#$% afterall. Especially with that knockdown effect.

As Ranger115 says, most of the high token counts are going to be stripped of their tokens before the auction starts, and the rest of the high counts are going to be saving their tokens for the computers, which (if they are the last items up for auction) will give the smaller counts viability to get other items.

Anywhere between 7k and 10k is the average, and their are over 4,000 prizes. Still a good chance to get something.

Im in a opptimistic mood, I set my sights low so I will be moderately suprised if I get anything. Just have fun, it's not costing us anything.

With things like these some people become greedy and have their eyes set on that "computer" or what have you. When peeps do that it ruins the mood, just like with last year's Bungie Day. Everyone wanting Recon, 99.9% walk away upset not recieving anything. Eventually got mine though.

I am a little discouraged seeing many people with a couple thousand more than me.

I really want to win that RAM, it would help me upgrade my computer so much. Although there are 5 available I just have the feeling that I won't have enough points to get it. And that's the only thing I really want that's on the list. *sigh* You never know though, I may get one!

You can get comparable RAM fairly cheaply so if you don't win it you might want to look into that.

I agree with the OP.

Got an email in my mail inbox about the bazaar and it claimed "It's for the fans". Excited, I registered all my games, set everything up, only to find out this is a huge PR stunt with facebook and twitter. Not to mention the odds of getting ANYTHING with the token "hacks" pretty much ruined it for me. Even though the computers are pretty much out of grasp maybe I can get a neat hat or something.

I've been a loyal Bioware customer forever but this seems kinda outa reach for me to win anything. I'm slightly disapointed. I don't even have a twitter or facebook anymore :(

Someone came up with the idea to use the IMG-Tag function of BBCode to generate "clicks" an asked BioWare if this was "legal." BioWare did not say anything for some time so people started using it. after a bit one employee, Stanley Woo, said the following:

"Most image tag exploit posts are edited and links are removed because they are similarly spamming the thread in which they are posted, usually in non-link exchange threads. Because the image tag exploit is a little sketchy, I'm a little stricter in when and where people can post them. Like regular links, I have little to no problem with people posting links to their signature blocks or in threads specifically designed to exchange links. Throwing the links around willy-nilly is what gets folks in trouble."

This seemed to give the go-ahead for IMG-Tags in signatures. However soon after that post, within hours in fact, Chris "Evil" Priestly wrote this:

"We consider this an exploit/cheating and are tracking it. Anyone found to use it will lose their tokens Tuesday morning before the auction begins.

Posting something and asking people to click on it is fine. Posting something that is going to automatically generate clicks for you without reader approval (willingness to click) is in our opinion tantamount to cheating and will not be tolerated."

Now some questions are:

Was there an grace period?
Why did BioWare not say anything for three days?
Are all the tokens going to be removed or just the URL-linked ones?
How will they tell who "cheated" and who didn't?
And why are they not saying anything now?

Maybe, maybe not. The level of decent is growing and this mess might have done more harm than good for BioWare. I know that I will think twice before buying, say, the next bit of DLC for ME2 or DA:O.

Thing is, most of us aren't even arguing that something shouldn't be done about it, but are arguing for a compromise rather than blanket bans from the contest. Take away the tokens earned through the cheat, or a general token reduction or something. Most of us didn't realize it was cheating, and didn't find out till days after use of the method began.

Oh, wait, right.  Because if some people think they're not DQd, they'll keep spamming free advertising for them.
