I tried to load the area layout file ost101d.arl into the toolset.  The file is only 3.47MB but I'm geting an Out of Memory Error consistently.  Anyone know what is up with that?  My system has 6GB of ram!  Posted Image

With 6GB of RAM have opted out of a pagefile.sys on your box? I'd check that, maybe you a) don't have one or B) the size needs adjusted.

I would think with 6GB of RAM you wouldn't need a page file but who knows?

I have an additional symptom. When the Out of Memory error occurs, the tab which should be showing ost101d is actually showing GFF Editor, and the Out of Memory error message window also has GFF Editor on the window title. Do I need a third-party GFF Editor to look at this file?

I can confirm if you open it with File->Open, then it'll kill the toolset in the way you described. But the demo module uses that in the demo100ar_wilderness area and *there* it loads OK for me. A bug in their GFF reader?

Certainly appears so. Is there any way to confirm this so we can e-mail the devs about it? I'm pretty well stuck in my modding attempts as I have no clue how they implement ambient lighting and I can't even see the ground when I try to work with it in the area editor or look at it in game.

You are getting an out of memory error because the DA toolset is a 32-bit process, and can "only" use 2GB of memory. If I had to guess, I'd say it's blowing up because the GFF plugin has problems handling extremely large arrays, which the arl files contain.

You are not going to get very interesting results opening up an arl file in the GFF editor anyway. The toolset does not have a plugin to open arl resources, only the source lvls.

How do we contact the devs?  I apologize, I'm accustomed to Linux and being able to simply report the bug to get a fix.
