Alright, I went through Mass Effect 1+2. Loved it.
I've also been a sucker for Elder Scrolls (Morrowind + Oblivion). Loved it.

I had heard about Dragon Age for a bit, and thought that I might get it. My question is, I usually hear extremes about Dragon Age. By that meaning it's either "THE BEST GAME EVER" or "THE WORST".

I know it's limited to opinions, but still. Do you think it is worth the money?

I heard a lot of good things, but it's nice to be sure Image IPB
After all, it's about 80+ dollars for everything right now.

Its a great game, cheap now too, for the pc anyway. It just depends if you like the combat system or not imo, its tactical, and old fashioned, its not like ME or TES. The best comparrison you could get is wow tbh. Story and content wise tho its burstin at the seams, if you like it, you'd play it again, trust me.

Play the Witcher.... waaaaay better... got bored with DA quite fast... tried to keep playing... maybe some day I finish it... but regarding fantasy rpg... the witcher is better graphics, better story, more interesting characters... but that is just my opinion...

Given the games you say you've enjoyed i'd say a big yes. The gameplay itself is very different from ME and ME2 but there is still the same fantastic level of storytelling, masses of interesting characters, and a really rich world.

I loved Elder Scrolls myself, but i always felt like my character didn't exactly feel like they had an identity - a problem I've never found with any of Bioware's game, but especially not in DA.

Hmmmm, so i guess the short version of that answer is 'Yes, very much worth the price'. :)

Alright, that was also something I didn't like in ES. Mainly that people were robots and you felt kind of like a faceless man wandering the lands.
Guess I'll break out the card then =P

In short:
It's just a good game, worth of playing. But don't expect too much.
IMHO every Bioware game except JE and NWN is better. (I'm not including Shattered Steel and Sonic XP)

Reviews may also reflect the reviewers'point of view, some may like the graphics some may not,i don't always rely on reviews that much,i'd say if u like the genre then experience it,take the risk...u might find it to ur liking,if not...well...life's not fair & is all about experiment...just an opinion

if you liked Morrowind and Oblivion then as someone stated above try The Witcher. DA:O is great and worth playing.

Absolutely it's worth it - got it very recently myself and am on my first (not to be the last) run through the game.

I myself didn't like Morrowind at all - it seemed to me to be mainly a game about hiking in a pretty-graphics environment. Only the hike is interrupted by annoying combat with a combat system I couldn't stand. Cities with cardboard-cutout people too stupid to realize they are trying to walk through a wall. I TRIED to like it, but just couldn't manage. :crying:

I'd say DA:O appeals most to the people who enjoyed NWN2, and who consider Baldur's Gate II to be the pinacle of computer RPGs... or at the very least among the finest. It certainly works for me.

It's the best game I've played in a good few years to be honest. The story is incredibly immersive, and the character development is so good. I've played it 3 times through already, and when I've finished awakening, i'll probably play it all again. Every playthrough can be different. It's definitely worth it!
Also the options to customize the appearance of your character is second to none. I really love this game!

I got bored of it pretty quickly. For me, the game didn't have a hook, and lost its greatness after the beginning of the game started. I just didn't care about any of the characters. THere were a couple of main quests that were good, but the Dwarf questing bored me to death, and I soon gave up on the game and sold it.

I just started playing a couple days ago, and I love it. The story lines are great. Having problems getting some of the tactics to work for me, but I'm sure it's just what I'm doing wrong. Best game I've played in a while.

Just don't download patch 1.03 for Dragon Age. It's full of bugs that really detract from the gaming experience. Before patch 1.03 Dragon Age was my Greatest of All Time.

Go to a satellite site and get patch 1.02a. Play. Enjoy.

When they fix the game again then maybe update your patches.
