 Hey guys!
So I know vanguard is pretty sad on insanity in ME2, but Im playing it just for fun, since I was really good with it in ME1 (and I want to see if I should load in my ME1 character as vanguard or switch maybe to sentinel).
Anyways...
So I think my build will probably end up as:
10 Heavy Charge
10 Imp Shockwave
10 Incindiary ammo
10 Champion

and I am wondering if I should grab Reave -10 or barrier-10.
Also I really like pull but most people recommend I only put 1 point there (which I dont understand since I spam pull so much on anything once defenses are down).

Anyways, now the squad question:
Obviously I will take miranda for defense stripping, and cause slam looks cool :P
Now, I really like garrus, and he was great in ME1, but now I am considering using Zaeed  since they have same weapons (except zaeed gets +50% damage passive), and both concussive shot, and both have some type of defense stripping ammo power. Their difference lies in that garrus has overload and zaeed has inferno grenade.  I already have overload from miranda, but the only armor stripping power is miranda's warp. Inferno Grenade is great for armor (500 total damage... 100 per fragment).  Should I take zaeed over Garrus?  They are both cool characters but zaeed seems slightly more useful even though I still love garrus from ME1.

Thanks guys! :D

You better hide that before Thisisme8 sees it.

Build looks good. As long as you have Champion, Heavy Charge and Inferno Ammo you're good. Shockwave, just for a heads up, is not a very good ability for Shepard to use on Insanity but it's all about preference.

Your squad makeup should depend on the mission, I think. Barrier is nice but the cooldown is long.

Don't take Barrier - It's cooldown is obscenely long and will prevent you from charging for the full duration. Simply using Charge has the same function, as does Medi-Gel. I suppose Barrier could be casted before a battle, but the extra shields won't last 2 seconds under fire so it's not worth it. Go with Reave or Slam, IMO.

Also Shockwave is not very good on Shepard. I would recommend Squad Cryo Ammo. When you activate it and switch back to Inferno Ammo, your partners will still keep Cryo on. Very useful.

As for the squad, I bring Miranda and Garrus with me 90% of the time. The only time I swap out anyone is when I fight against Geth, in which case I take Zaeed and maybe Tali. This mostly boils down to personal preference; Miranda's squad damage boost is almost essential, but after that it doesn't matter much. Grunt it also very effective.

Yikes, this again.

The short answer is: no, it's really not.

Refer to the giant sticky. The Vanguard is far from sad in this game. :)

Um ok I have a question.

So now, Kasumi came out=win.

So should I take maybe Flashbang as an extra power and just spam?

Also, I want to have Miranda+Kasumi in my squad... That doesnt give me much long range cover.... is this a good idea?

10 Heavy Charge

10 Imp Shockwave

10 Inferno ammo

10 Champion

10 Area pull

1 Barrier

In my experience a one point Barrier is an incredible investment in that is a great failsafe if you can't charge away or aren't patient enough to wait behind cover for your health/barrier to refill. Flashbang is better when used by Kasumi, so there's no need for your Shep to have it as well.

10 Heavy Charge

10 Inferno

10 Squad Cryo

10 Champion

10 Area Reave

This was the build I used and it worked out well. You'll hardly use Reave but it's nice to have a way to instantly damage a tough enemy that would murder you if you just charged right away. Area Reave will also stun groups of unprotected enemies. Pull is nice but Shockwave is just awful. You don't want to waste 3 points in it to get a power (Pull) you'll mostly sideline in favor of Charge.

Flashbang is a very good power for any class. Bear in mind that you do have to throw the flashbang, just as with Inferno Grenade. It takes some practice.

Also, the cooldown will never really get lower than 6s, so if you're willing to wait that long to charge then go for it.

In my experience, a 3s cooldown power is best for Vanguard, but a lot of people will tell you differently.

There is a Tactical Vanguard thread inside of Thisisme8's guide that goes into bonus power detail for the VG.

Miranda and Kasumi is a good squad. When you get Thane you can take Kasumi and Thane for better coverage.

If I remember correctly, I pretty much ignored the bonus power with my Vanguard. I even found a use for Shockwave while playing the higher difficulty levels because it will cause an enemy to stumble even if their defenses are up. This became important when I was wasting precious time switching weapons. Then you'll get the benefit of Pull to combine with a squadmate's Warp.

The bonus power I can see working quite well with Vanguard is Dominate. I tend to avoid Reave because it is so greatly overpowered. I do like Flashbang, but like Inferno Grenade, you have to be able to aim it just right to get any distance out of it. And my aim sucks. Better to just have Kasumi along.

ETA: Oh, and I agree with FoFoZem about a Thane/Kasumi combination versus Miranda/Kasumi. Thane will give you the distance coverage, plus he has Warp to use with your Pull.
