I cried when I did the US ending. The look on Zevran's face... ugh. And then how he turned out... ugh. And since Alistair wasn't king when I did it, what happened to him, even more ugh...

Yeh, that ending felt awful. But in a megalomaniac-type way, it felt pretty good.

Execute Alister? How does this occur? I'm guessing it's at the Landsmeet? I've played through that part twice, don't recall any option to kill Alister. You need Loghain to live?

You do need to let Loghain live. And you're not the one who gives the order.

So if Loghain dies (especially if Alistair kills him) Anora won't feel the need to execute him if she can? You'd think it'd be the opposite and she'd be more upest if her father just died.

It's a little more complicated than that, Alistair can't be hardened, and you had to have chosen Anora to be Queen and then spared Loghain. Alistair rebels, chaos ensues.

I dont get why you guys think Morrigan would use the child to conquer the world. She could care less about that.

I'm more worried about the kid. The darkspawn hear the songs of an old god, the kid will have the soul of an old god and it will be on the surface. Darkspawn will come to the surface due to the fact it will be easier to get to the child then looking around underground for another god.

So basically - all the darkspawn come on the surface, and Morrigan does a "Oh sh*t, I did not see that coming."

But Morrigan considers POWER above all things as is mentioned many times thoughout the game.

Actually, the impression I get is that she values freedom - most importantly her own - above all else, and power is simply a means to that end. She even says it herself while discussing the Dark Ritual that the child represent freedom. It's unfortunately lacking in specifics, but it's not that hard to make an educated guess; freedom from Flemeth, from the Chantry's mage hunters, etc., etc.

Really? which is great and your view... but mine is that Morrigan had no fear of Templers... it  was a game and fun as Flemeth told Morrigan when she left with the Wardens " And do have Fun dear" not til my speaking to Morrigan about her past did I understand that the baiting of Templers was fun, Now to me that sounds like a disrepect of the role the Templers and Chantry has... over her. My thought of Morrigan is the Power gives her freedom...
Sorry but I listen to the side chats of the charaters and draw a conclusion. Funny now little conments can mean alot in a game.

Yes, she enjoys baiting them, but do you seriously think she wouldn't relish the chance to forever rid herself of annoyances like that? Though that'd be more of a side benefit than anything, really - I think she's mainly speaking of Flemeth.

There's no need to get snippy - I pay attention to side comments as much as everybody.

Morrigan also explains that she was just a child then who had no understanding of the seriousness of the situation. We don't know if she still finds it fun now that she does or if she resents them for trying to kill/imprison her.

I may have shed a tear or two.

I will totally admit to being physically sick to my stomach when I satisfied my sick curiousity to see what happens when you execute Alistair. And I did it on HNF who was in love with him. God, that was awful. I went for dinner right afterwards and it was not enjoyable.

OMG I have NEVER been able to get that resolution to the Landsmeet.  I just can't do it  I Posted ImageAlistair too much.  I hated the Warden Commander ending as well.  Made me so angry I literally wanted to toss my PC out the window.

Have I mentioned I like pain?  I do this stuff ALL THE TIME with my D&D characters and characters in stories.  Why?  WHY DO I DO DIS?!

Edit:  Oddly enough, I have never done the WC ending.  How do you do this?  Make Anora queen and then...?

I've done the US once to see it, wasn't impressed. I don't like my heroes dying. No it wasn't moving. Having tali shot in the face on the other hand...

Was the WC the one that just had Alistair die against the Archdemon? If it was then it should just be don't do the DR then take him to the final battle and he'll want to (or insist on if it's love) take the final blow.

I believe there are several ways to get the Warden-Commander ending. (That's the one you're talking about, right?)

First: Cannot do dark ritual (duh), must not recruit Loghain. Alistair must be taken to fight the Archdemon.

1 - During the final attack, Alistair has several differing lines (based on your relationship) requesting to take the final blow. Let him. Or command him, if that's your thing.
2 - During the final attack, Alistair will always take the final blow for a female PC that he loves (I think approval has to be high as well, or he might be talked out of it.)

Optional: Make Anora queen. No matter who rules Ferelden, Alistair will be  final blow if he is in the party. Digging through the toolset (this is the only ending I haven't experienced yet,) Alistair will call his sacrifice a "kingly" thing to do if he was going to be king. I believe Anora rules if Alistair dies, by default. (Can't have a dead guy on the throne.)

Warden Commander Achievement is Al taking the blow. But you can convince him not to if you are friendly or lower with him. If in love though I think its automatic.

Warden Commander is the one where you direct Alistair or Loghain to sacrifice themselves, right?

EDIT: ...Okay, well, you guys post fast.

You get it even if Loghain or Alistair insist on taking the blow, and do take it.

Edit: LOL Way of the Ninja is known indeed:ph34r:

Gotcha. I was confuzzled at first since I think of the Warden in Awakening when people say "Warden Commander" and it's not really even crossed my mind to not do the Dark Ritual and then not take the blow myself. I plan to do it at some point just to see it, but...

Ah, okay, I have done that. Was confused for a little bit, and didn't know if there was something else to it than the achievement. Thank you.

I just find it funny that the achievement says you commanded them to do it, when both are insisting on taking it.

IIRC you get the redeemer one if it's Loghain, not Warden Commander. Just to be clear.

Whoops, thanks for the correction Herr Uhl, I am slowly working on that achievement, and then reload to do the DR cause I want Loghain in Awakening.

I know, can't you just see that playing out?

Alistair: Please, let me take the final blow. You've done so much for me and I want to do something to help you for once. And because I never bothered to ask you about your life.
Warden: No, I've got a full life ahead of me! I didn't even want to do this in the first place! As the leader of our little group, I order you to do it instead.
Alistair: Posted Image...Well, okay then.
Warden: Don't argue with me, Alistair. Just do it.

I think Loghain's is permitted or allowed, whereas Alistair's is commanded. I'm not sure why they are worded differently. Is Alistair less keen if you're not a female? (I've only done it once).

I did an US run with a HMN, and I had high approval with Alistair and he was hardened and all that.

He wants to make the final blow. Telling you that he is the best friend that he has ever had, and that its the 'best king' that he can be. He wont do it no-matter what though, you can easily talk him out of it.
