Romance and Fan based threads should get their own Forum.

A rational argument as to why topics YOU are not interested in should be moved to their own forum out of your way?
Give me a break.
To be frank, I don't care one way or another. If you look through every support thread on that forum, you will find that I have a total of 1 post in all of them combined.
I don't even read them.
I just get annoyed at ppl like you and the OP for whining about them cluttering up your "more important "topics.
Obviously the people in there want to talk about the subject, so where's the problem? Post in another thread, bring that one to the top.

Posting in another thread requires constant bumping just to keep it noticable. It doesn't matter whether it's one I started, or one that someone else started, or one to which someone else is replying.
It's not about being condescending and wanting "more important" topics on the page. It's about keeping the forums organized. Even if I wanted to post in a support thread, I'd be inconvenienced by the fact that I'd have to search for that thread on the forum and keep bumping it so I can see it. If I bookmark it, I'll end up on the same page of the thread each time.
If there was a separate forum, it would be much easier for everyone.

These aren't my threads i'm defending. I just believe people have the right to talk about what they want. If you have a seperate forum for support threads, then surely we need a seperate forum for anti a certain character threads, a forum to talk about biotics, a forum to talk about trading armor codes..
Personally, I think these boards work fine as they are. However if we're petitioning the devs for change then I move for an immediate transition back to the old legacy site.
Anyway, I'm off to play my newly installed ME2 on PC. I'll check back on this topic later if you want to continue.

Your making the assumption that everyone posting in these character threads are obsessed about these characters. I post in the Samara thread quite often. Honest to god I'm tired of going to the Mass Effect 2 Official Campaign Quests and Storylines Forum and having to see the annoying Romance tali threads, or support Kaiden threads, when really all I want to see is story line discussion. Please for the love of the maker, developers, make a new forum for those people who are OBSESSED! over Squad Mates! Threads about romance and fan support just clog up the Mass Effect 2 Official Campaign Quests and Storylines Forum and make it annoying to even post their or look for a decent post to read!
I support a new forum for those obsessed romance and squad member lovers, because I don't wanna see another romance or TALI Thread again!
These people are obsessed. I mean look at them, the tali thread has over 5000 pages! and everyday a new support or romance thread gets created that just spam the forum making it impossible for people who have a relevant topic they want to talk about. I'm tired of not being able to make threads because they get pushed down to the bottem of the page because people are spam bumping "OMFG I LOVE TALI PLEASE LET ME HAVE HER BABIES" Threads, like the devs don't already know that they want tali in ME-3, just like all the other threads. I'm not saying get rid of the threads all together, I'm say move them to their own forum so they can obsess there an not spam the forum that I wanna post in.

It's not unreasonable to have a separate forum for only support threads though. Considering the large post counts for some of those threads, each character could basically have its own forum if the moderators desired it. Right now, it's better if those large threads could be organized in its own forum.Rivercurse wrote...

Not all people may post in most support threads, but most people don't post in all the support threads. That means others have to sift through the other support threads in order to get theirs. Like I said, it makes it easier for them too if their thread was always in the same place.
What I would propose is this:
1. Make a forum called Mass Effect Character Romance and Support Discussion (Spoilers Warning)
2. Have it organized in alphabetical order, with a 'nomination' thread and/or a 'squadmate for ME3' thread at the top. This is for non-squadmates of Mass Effect that deserve their own support thread. If enough people nominate or vote for a specific character, then a new thread can be started and added to the list.
3. The first 17 character threads would be created and auto-stickied:
-Ashley
-Garrus
-Grunt
-Jack
-Jacob
-Liara
-Legion
-Kaidan
-Kasumi
-Miranda
-Mordin
-Morinth
-Samara
-Tali
-Thane
-Wrex
-Zaeed

It's kind of funny how the character threads are not in the character forum. A 17 thread public forum may be unnecessary. I would not care either way, just seems rather worthless for the effort. People can stop themselves from clicking threads.

Again, you approaching it by bashing the fans of certain characters will get you nowhere.
I certainly hope you don't think I'm singling out anyone person here, no I'm talking about anyone person who makes a romance or support thread. These threads are overdone and have become a pest to the forums. Its not just the TALI lovers, or the Thane fanatics, its everyone. These people need their own forum so they can discuss and argue which tali is hotter, or does my romance have bigger boobs than your romance. Honestly all they talk about is nonsense and if it takes bashing them to show just how unnecessary they and their threads are then by all means I'm going to do it.

I also like this idea, Ecael. And here's something possible to add:
Instead of making it a forum just for character support, it should also include fan fiction. It looks like a lot of fan fiction and artwork appears on the LI threads anyway, and this would give fanfic authors a place to put their stories and foster discussion with like-minded individuals. Maybe something named along the lines of:
"Mass Effect Characters and Fan Fiction Discussion (Spoilers Warning)"
This would leave the "storylines" forum open to those who actually want to discuss storylines, plot, and the ME universe.

Anyway if anything, they probably all should be moved tot he character discussion forum. I'll agree with Collider there.
Making a separate forum though, is pointless.

Can we please not turn this into a thread bashing romance threads? Because frankly, in doing that you are simply stooping to the level of the people you hate. I support the OP's idea, but I am also a poster in one of said romance threads and if this is going to turn into mindless bashing of myself and others like me, then I am out of here.

I for one support the idea of a separate forum. It'd be one thing if there were just one thread devoted to each main character (that wouldn't clutter the forums too much), but for each character there is usually the main support/love thread, and several ancillary threads either supporting/hating on said character. Not to mention the additional threads for Blasto, Shiala, Anderson, Gianni Parasini, Turian Council Member, etc. etc. It seems like there are a lot of good discussion ideas getting buried.
This issue also could be helped by more direct moderation - like locking threads that contain info that is being discussed elsewhere. I've been on other boards where the mods seem a lot more attentive to shutting down superfluous threads, but here on the Bioware boards they only seem to step in in extreme circumstances. Not that I want these forums to turn into a **** police state or anything, but they could use a bit of a cleanup/thread consolidation.
