Warhound, sorry if I misinterpreted hat you were saying, it's just that fans of certain characters get enough grief.

Anyway if anything, they probably all should be moved tot he character discussion forum. I'll agree with Collider there.

Making a separate forum though, is pointless.

Respectfully, Shavon, I would disagree with you.  I think there is a point to making a separate forum.  As I understand it, the characters, classes, and builds section is exactly what its title suggests: A place to discuss the merits of engineer vs. adept, or how to make the best vanguard.  I think the romance threads would be out of place there.  And they do tend to take up a lot of space on the first page or two simply because they are so active.  Let's be honest, how many people would honestly look 3 or 4 pages back to find a thread that interests them?  I love Kaidan, but that doesn't mean that I want to see discussion of him drown out discussion of any other aspects of the Mass Effect storyline.

People say Tali is cute yet they haven't seen her face. Maybe you should say her attitude is cute, though I wouldn't agree.

An attitude is as much part of a person as their face.

Well, everyone's entitled to their opinions, I disagree, but this issue doesn't really effect me that much. I keep most romance discussions in the private groups.

It just doesn't make sense to me for the Bw web developers to make a whole new forum for twenty threads? But, that's is the devs call. If they do move the threads, I won't be upset.

Anywho, carry on, guys! I hope the devs respond to you guys when they return on Monday

Again my point is made when we have a troll spamming the general discussion forum by showing videos directed to TALI fans, Thane fans....ect. If only there was a thread for those people.

you have to admit it takes a lot of space on the frontpage.

Yeah, trolls love obeying forum etiquette, they'd definitely stick to the correct thread.

@everyone else, there is simply not enough justification for a forum with less than 20 topics in it.  That's the bottom line.

A topic becomes a little more than your average discussion when it's running on hundreds, nay, even thousands of pages. I really like Ecael's suggestions and it leads me to think that given their own space to post, fans of various characters may feel less compelled to post simply for the sake of bumping their favorite character's thread; in other words, more meaningful discussion. For the time being I'm going to use the filter that Ecael made for Adblock Plus.

It's fairly clear that having a separate forum with a stickied support thread would keep the Official Campaign forum organized and free of clutter. It would also make it easier to find a support thread since they wouldn't be competing with each other for the top 10 spots of the forum.

Can you provide a rational argument as to why it shouldn't be that way?

Agreed.

Those threads do get post a lot and often. I have no animosity towards them or the people who post in them, but it does get tiring having to look past these threads for something actually new and interesting. I'm in support of having their own forum.

PS. OP, you should create a poll.

Agreed, she and her fanbase can take their 5000 page thread somewhere else.

I like her, however, when my friend linked that 5000+ page thread.... a part of me died inside...

Mass Effect News and Announcements
Dragon Age News and Announcements

Not only that, but thedoncarnage chipped in with a good idea:

I also like this idea, Ecael. And here's something possible to add:

Instead of making it a forum just for character support, it should also include fan fiction. It looks like a lot of fan fiction and artwork appears on the LI threads anyway, and this would give fanfic authors a place to put their stories and foster discussion with like-minded individuals. Maybe something named along the lines of:

"Mass Effect Characters and Fan Fiction Discussion (Spoilers Warning)"

This would leave the "storylines" forum open to those who actually want to discuss storylines, plot, and the ME universe.

The character threads would be stickied, but people are still allowed to make regular posts for character plot discussion and fanfiction.

...you know, I think this is a really good idea.  To be honest, while I quite enjoy reading some character-support threads, I can understand how those who do not would find them annoying.  This seems like a good compromise for a separate forum.

At the same time, I think part of why they are so popular is that fans have seen the expanded role that Garrus and Tali got in ME2 as a result of their popularity, and thus want Bioware to know just how popular the characters *they* like are, and why they like them.  Quite a bit of it is storytelling feedback.  (Though I know that quite a lot is also just fluff - albeit harmless fluff.)  I imagine that many fans don't want their threads to disappear to a forum they don't think Bioware will read.  Not that it's all that clear that Bioware reads this forum, though.  Almost all dev feedback happens in the main forum...

I don't think it really matters.... you can NOT read them you know. Really is it that hard to scroll down the page? Honestly, the things people complain about. *shakes head*

I get what you're saying OP, but I don't know that another forum is necessary. The point of the forums is that everyone can post to whatever topic is relevant to their interests. You can't exclude people just because the threads you don't enjoy tend to be the ones that a lot of people post in. We already have the option to make private groups here and a lot of people spend a lot of their time in those groups, which kind of separates them from the community to begin with. I think separating the community more would be a bad idea. Not to get all puppies and rainbows on you, but we are a community.

I disagree about all of the romance threads being noting but spam. Quite a few of them have engaging discussion on the game's plot and different interactions in the game.

As of the time of this posting, there are 6/25 pages on the front page that are character threads. That's not even 1/3.

The characters are part of the game. If you don't want to discuss certain characters, I'm of the opinion that one ought to scroll around the topic.
