but in that article, it didn't really mention whether it has real conversation or not. in people opinions down the article, they just assume it won't have that. well, because 'just like Zaeed....' that sentence make you just like that? I red few articles about her, but none of them mentioned the details. they were just brief. so you don't really know until April 6th anyway.
Will we be able to Roamnce Kasumi?

I gave you $7 and yet you still won't have sex with me? You are useless.

Roam if you want to

Without anything but the love we feel
I never figured you for a B52's fan, EDI.

You say "female Zaeed" as if that's a bad thing.
It wouldn't be, if you could talk to them. That you can't, is a clear sign for quick, cheap and lazy development.

Threads like this make me wonder if it wouldn't be better if videogame characters just went back to being asexual cardboard cutouts whose only purpose is to shout one-liners and fire weapons. Then I remember I don't have to play ME as a dating sim just because some people on the internet seem to think that's what it is, and it's all good again.

Right. Nevermind their own missions or interactivity throughout the game. I love when people throw the word "lazy" around like so much confetti.
Indeed, nevermind those. That's the bare minimum, or would you pay $ 7 only to get a character that follows you and shoots at your enemies? For 1/6 of the game's full price, one could - and should - expect to get a character with at least the development of the other companions.

Like Zaeed, another added character through downloadable content, you
can't actually engage in full conversation with her, she just talks at
you as you wander around her room.
If you still think she's going to have a conversation wheel after that, then you're delusional.

So three conversation trees are the difference between "lazy" and "not lazy." Oh. And I take it you never downloaded Zaeed, because he's got lots of personality that comes through in his responses in missions, just like everybody else.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with people enjoying this aspect of the game, it's there to be enjoyed and I'll agree something about the fact that the DLC characters don't have it somehow makes it seem like it's been skipped over to save time and effort, I just don't understand why it's somehow more important to some people than... you know... what actually happens.

If they made it mission-only interaction, nobody would know who the hell Jacob is and why he was on our spaceship. Same with other characters. Exposition is only lazy writing when it serves as a replacement for story; conversations don't. It gives a necessary depth to a character, and lets you get to know them.

The problem is, SpaceHampster, that if people interacted by going on missions, you'd only know/understand the two people you took with you at the time. The reason the Normandy conversations are so treasured, just like the camp-talks in Dragon Age, is because it lets us get to know -everyone-, not just the two we bring with us.
Which is why every character has at least one, most of them two, quests entirely devoted to them.

Nope, she's like Zaeed from what's been said/seen so far - no dialogue wheel, no romance.
Ugh. Good to know.
Not that I care one bit about a romance option, but Zaeed was the most boring character in the game. There was no real interaction, and I didn't think it was possible to make a character that flat and cardboard cutout sterotypical, but Zaeed proved me wrong.
He was "free" at least, so I'm not really complaining, but he really felt like he was just tacked on at the end rather than developed like anyone else.
If Kasumi's going to be more of the same, I'm definitely not spending any money on her.
I can't say I've really felt much of any of the DLC has been very compelling. The Arc Projector is OK and I thought the Normandy crash site added something to the game, but I can't say I've seen much of anything in the free DLC that makes me eager to actually pay money for something else they might release.
I realize it's probably a case of "you get what you pay for", but when the free stuff feels completely phoned in and the first paid offering is a clothes pack, I'm left feeling that there's probably nothing in any of the DLC that I'm going to feel is worth paying for.
IMO, if they were smart, they'd be releasing high quality good sttuff through the Ceberus Network for free. Show that they can produce high value DLC, and then offer something even better for some extra money. I'd be inclined to bite on that. But as it is.. eh.
While I'm not complaining about the free DLC, I can honestly say I don't think I'd miss it much if it wasn't there. I definitely wouldn't miss it $15 worth if I'd bought ME2 used.
I don't think that's a good sign for the viability of a paid DLC plan.
EDIT:
I should probably add that I might have a higher opinion of the DLC we've had so far if this were some other game. However, the quality of the Mass Effect 2 "core experience" was so high that any DLC is going to have to be very good and very tightly integrated into the overall game to keep it from feeling tacked on. Stuff like Firewalker just feels like it's dilluting the overall experience of ME2, and despite the fact that you gain a vehicle by doing it, I feel like it might actually diminish the gameplay experience as a whole.
It's sort of a case of "less is more", I think. They did such a good job on the core game itself, that DLC that might be acceptable elsewhere just doesn't quite hold up here.
I probably shouldn't have mentioned that though, because I'm worried the lesson EA may take from this isn't "produce more compelling DLC", but rather "make weaker games so the same DLC looks more appealing". I hope that's not the case.
