It's hard for me to want to play this game. Because as soon as I start getting into the game and having fun. I will CTD, its very annoying. This is the Only game I am having problem with. Bioware can we please get a patch!

I understand and can empathise with your frustration.  We will talk more about patching/console updates soon - we're not going anywhere and DA is all we do.  We have no intention of leaving it as is.

That's what Fernando Melo said. That's all that we really have to go on at the moment.

I hope they fix it soon because as of right now I feel like I wasted $100 on this game. Its hard to get into the game if its crashing every hour. I always end up back tracking. I give up on this game for now. I am going to hold out for a patch. And if they dont patch it I will never buy anything Bioware again!

For DA:Origins, I re-installed but only patched up to 1.02. It's unfortunate that I can't use my Bulwark of the True King (Patch 1.03 required for that DLC item), but I don't ever crash with patch 1.02. Stealing also works properly, so it was honestly worth having to start my saves over.

oh I absolutely sympathize.

I don't exactly have the severe crashing problem, other than perhaps one every other time I play, but I have an fps drop from ~45fps to an unplayable 1-5 fps every other minute. Can't play with that at all, I gave up too.

Well, I am not entirely sure what to tell you, but there are some things you could try to see if you can get improvement. From my time talking to tech. support, which was a lot, trust me, led me to determine there are two likely reasons for CTD's. The first is typically corrupt game saves, which I have experienced. When the game closes unexpectedly, it can corrupt the game save which continues to cause crashing when trying to play. If this is the case, you should notice the game freezes during fight scenes (typically magic usage or explosive flasks) or while panning the camera. This can sometimes be fixed by reverting to a previous game save or creating a new character. The second problem I noticed, is that the game appears to have problems with the AMD Tri and Quad cores. I myself have a Tri-Core, and after manually setting the affinity of the processor to 1/2 cores my stability increased greatly. I am on Windows 7, but I was also experiencing similar problems up until I did the above things. The only other thing I do is run the game under the default administrator account, and that helps as well. I can't promise any of the above will work, but if you can't run the game now, you don't really have much to lose by trying either. I would recommend trying to set the affinity first.

Dude, thanks! I have an AMD Phenom II X3 and after setting it to use only two CPUs I managed to play for 4 hours without a single problem. Even if it does end up crashing now and then it's much more stable with this. Much appreciated.

Your welcome! Hopefully more people will be able to read what I typed as well. A lot of people, including myself initially, attributed the problem to the patch, but I think in fixing a previous problem, it made this one more noticeable. Please note, that I do still have random crashing, but I can now log anywhere from 2-8 hours without crashes, and typically reloading after a crash will allow for hours of fun, whereas previously the game would crash every 5 to 10 minutes.

Well consider yourself lucky, I crash after or during ANY battle so it's unplayable basically. No problems with other games whatsoever.

Have you tried disabling all the options on the "online" tab except character uploads? That seems to improve stability for many people, me included.

Yep tried it but no improvement.

It seems to happen at the start, duration and end of battles.

I posted something a few posts up that could potentially help you. I admit, I do not know of your specs, or operating system, but it may be worth it to just read what I typed, if you haven't, to see if anything I said could possibly apply to you.

I have an AMD Phenom ii x3 and also crash like hell in 1.03, but I use 1.02a now. Just thought I would add to this list. Seeing as it may be one thing for them to check into(IF THEY EVER READ THESE FORUMS :) .

But I will still suggest using patch 1.02a seeing as 1.03 broke other stuff as well besides crashing.

Yes tried it thanks. I have a quad core, tried various affinitty settings. Also tried two different old endgame saves and tried two times to start from fresh with new characters (awakening).

I'm going to leave it alone now till 1.04. Hopefully that will fix it.
