Wondering how and why you guys decided to put 5 given points for your character in the attributes of your choice.
I'm a elfen mage, i decided to put 2 points in willpower, 2 points in magic and 1 in constitution.
This gives me a total of 19 willpower (because the +1 bonus), 19 magic and 11 constitution.
The reason is that as a mage willpower and magic are obviously the most important. But mages also need health, and since blood mages appearently sacrifice health for damage that might come in handy.
So how did you decide?

It was quite a bothersome decision to make, but the system of attributes isn't the same as Baldur's Gate etc., so I'm not going to worry too much. It's alot more forgiving.

Anyway, for my human noble warrior fella, I put one into strength, one into dexterity, one into willpower and two into constitution.

Your mage setup sounds about perfect for those five attribute points, it's what I had in mind for my mage.

Is there any point in creating a character online if your playing on PS3? Can you download it to the game once you have i?. I'd love to create my character and assign attributes but haven't yet because I thought this was only for PC players.

As long as you have an internet connection, a pc, ps3 or xbox 360 and a working copy of Dragon Age: Origins it's certainly possible

So far I dropped two into Willpower and three on Magic. As my character progresses I'll raise Cunning enough to qualify for max level Coercion. Anything else is going between Magic and Willpower.

So if I create a character online now I will be able to use it in my PS3 version of the game when I get it? I preordered it today btw.

For my dwarf noble warrior, I put two points into cunning so I could start off with coercion, two points into con, and one point in str.

For my human noble warrior i put 3 points in strenght and 2 points in dexterity.

For my elf mage i went with 3 points in magic and 2 points in willpower.

However as someone mentioned earlier this point system is pretty forgiiving and seeing that many talents require you to have attributes of 30 or so, my rough guess is that we will have plenty of attribute points to distribute every time we level up.

Yeah your characters are linked to your account, if you decide to play with that account on a pc, ps3 or xbox 360 doesn't really matter then as long as you have a internet connection.

You get 3 attribute points btw each time you level up =)

So what I make as a character here DOES carry over to our non-pc game. I though people said it would not, THAT WOULD BE AWESOME.

So has this been confirmed that we can make a character in the Character creator and put them onto our 360/PS3 version?

No it has not been confirmed, I'm also not a BioWare guy of any sort.

I just don't see, from a computer science point of view, any reason why that won't be possible :o

If I'm wrong however or someone got conformation that it ain't possible please correct me, I don't want to spread false hope of any sort :S

It's just that I can't find anything that says that it will be / will not be possible.

- you can't use characters created on pc later on your xbox or ps3.

- you can't download a character from this site if you loose your local copy. you can only use the locally saved characters from the creator later in the full game.

^ I see, if there is no actually data transmitted to this site then you're right.
I assumed that your entire character would be uploaded but I guess that's not the case then.
They use the data form your PC in stead, thank you for clarifying
Maybe we can get back ontopic now hehe ;)

I assign 20 to all stats then just add all 5 to my main attribute for that class.Blood mages? ahh c'mon make them plasma mages so we can just keep the blood and any diseases affiliated with it..ewww, bone mages... ya lose bone mass when ya cast spells, which would be hell on those females over 40 I guess..Or strength mages, they tap into the big guy in front and while weakening him destroying all the riff raff in front of him. I never can understand why mages have to be weak in constitution or strength if I had to walk up to my library at the top of a 200 ft. tower and carry books and scrolls where ever I went I bet I'd be pretty damn fit to at least arm wrestle any fighter. Fighting tactics are another thing entirely. I always see where mages get the raw end of the deal when it comes to strength. Then I hear "well, it's for game balance"..Then allow fighters to start with high intelligence "It's a poor rule that doesn't work both ways" Work in tactics that rely on intelligence or a fighting style that does. Why be so constrained? Ahhh, I know, it's because game developers can't handle that many possibilities.Nor are they probably paid to.

When the game comes out, I'll get a +4 bonus to all my stats since the Lucky Stone comes from this site and the Grimoire of the Frozen Wastes comes with the Collectors Edition. So I distributed my attributes with that in mind.

My first character in DA will also be an elfen mage. I will concentrate on getting the Stinging Swarm spell, as it seems it is very useful against bosses (like the first Oger) and larger groups of enemies. If I spend all points on Magic that spell will be available by level 5.

I've had enough of min-maxing from other games, so I decided to put my stats into what I thought my characters would actually have, based on their background stories. So for instance, my Rogue actually has some Willpower, Strength, and Constitution instead of going straight to the Dex and Cunning. In the game itself, I'd hate to think I'll get to some point where one of my characters can deal the most damage of anything in the game, but can't resist anything, can't survive more than a few hits, can't use secondary skills, or convince anybody to do what I want them to. Funneling everything into damage doesn't really appeal to me anymore. =]

Also as an elfen mage I put three points into cunning (to score 14) and one into both willpower and magic (both now scoring 18 with the bonus)

I heard that cunning can influence dialogue options, particularly in a way I'm interested in, so I damn near put all my points into that! But I've played it safe instead.

I see it as...

Rogues want enough strength to meet armour and weapon requirements but no more, enough willpower to use activated abilities but no more, and enough constitution to stay alive which will vary on the makeup of the party and how much time they spend in the front line. Everything else should go into Dexterity and Cunning as an even split.

Mages want just enough willpower to cast spells with everything else into magic. I plan to try it with a low constitution but that may need to be raised.

Warriors need a more even spread, Strength and Dexterity are probably most important but Willpower and Constitution will be needed as well. Nothing into cunning or Magic.

Human Noble Rogue - +1 Str, +1 Dex, +1 Cunning, +2 Con.
