For my Rogue they first 5 all went into Dex and Cunning, but I'm actually planning on deferring level ups until I know what I need (or need to level up a bit in order to handle a particular battle) - if I find a set of weapons that I want to use but don't have enough strength, then I'll spontaneously become strong enough to use them. And so on.
How are you spending your attribute points?

In the CC, I'm adding the points to what I think the character, in that class, would need/have, without regard to the skills. Three or four of the points go directly into the main attributes: warriors get strength and constitution, rogues get dexterity and cunning, mages get magic and willpower. The other one or two go into any of the others that I feel appropriate. I don't intend on necessarily keeping them that way for the game but since the attributes can increase quite substantially, these first points aren't all that important, I don't think.

With all the attribute points we get as we level combined with the attribute bonuses we get from equipment I haven't worried so much about these initial 5 points. For my characters I just put them in the classes "main" stat(s) and left it at that.

For my Warrior
At least 1 cons every level
at least 1 str every 2 levels
at least 1 will power every 3 levels
the rest will be added when needed for something

Uh, I'll focus on dexterity, cunning, and willpower, with the emphasis on dexterity and willpower... cunning up to mid-20s as needed. I'll put points in strength when I need them. (Rogue.

It depended on what I'm doing with my character and I'll hope for the best.
I have one Elf warrior that I put 3 points in dexterity with one extra in strength and constitution
and one human warrior with mostly strength and constitution. and one human warrior that is more balanced with 2 in strength, 2 in dexterity and 1 in constitution.
One mage I put 2 into willpower, 2 into magic and 1 into constitution.and one has 1 wilpower, 2 magic, 1 strength and 1 constitution.
My rogues pretty much all have 2 extra in dexterity and the other split between cunning, willpower, constitution and strength depending on what I'm going to try out.

I made a city elf rogue, and my initial 5 points are going right into dexterity. The majority of my points will probably be dex also, with cunning as the definite second. Probably a touch of willpower to meet requirements for things as I see fit to my playstyle and gear I find.

I'm also really looking forward to all the bonus items.
The all stat + 3 book and the lucky ring will help me achieve all those badass lv 30 spells much earlier =D
I'd love to see those elemental spells in action ^^
I'm gonna calculate how much levels I have to go after that =)
