I'll download it tomorrow morning before work and fire it up first thing after. Lots of people have differing ideas on ME2 DLC up to this point, but I have felt the game, and alls it associated DLC has been worth the price tag they carry. I doubt Kasumi will disappoint me.

Of course it isn't in because it was CUT OUT, you insufferable imbecile.

They originally announced 12 squadmates and cut two (Zaeed and Kasumi) because EA wanted ME2 out at a time that didn't conflict with other EA release dates so Bioware rushed the game out the door. They left placeholders in the game specifically for those two characters or is your level of retardation too great to comprehend that there were two inaccessible rooms on the Normandy?

If you look through the forums you can find this from Michael Gamble

Michael Gamble (BioWare)
wrote...

none of the kasumi content was cut from the game (this
also goes for the free cerberus content). it was developed from the
ground up after the game. the only stuff that was in the game at the
time of ship is the stuff you can find in the stubs.

when looking
at the value of the pack, the playtime is only half of the picture.
where other competing dlc modules may use recycled tilesets and existing
characters, kasumis mission is entirely new. not to mention - a new SMG
that you get to use for the length of the game - and Kasumi (and her
powers and alternate costume).

from a value perspective, we've
been trying to give away quality free items via cerberus so far (and
again, none of it was cut from the main game - its all brand new. not
many developers out there care this much). so when it comes to bioware
quality paid content, we hope the reception will be good as well.

I guess it depends on if you want to believe him or not.

Some people are interpreting "cut out" as Zaeed and Kasumi were in the finished game, 100% completed, and then Bioware literally pulled all the code out. That is not what I'm saying and that is what Mr. Gamble is talking about in an attempt to make it sound like these characters weren't even a sperm in their daddy's nut shack when ME2 was completed. If the DLC was created from the ground up after ME2 was finished there would be no extra rooms for Zaeed and Kasumi, there would be no placeholders and Bioware would not have originally announce 12 squad members. They had Zaeed and Kasumi planned from the get go and this guy's "smooth talking" doesn't change that. ME2 was obviously rushed. A good game despite the reload-from-a-previous-save scale bugs, but rushed nontheless. No serious testing and fixing was done. Thank EA and the guy at Bioware who agreed to sell out to them.

One quick question: Does your mind ring a bell at the word "planning"?
When you go to develop something you have a plan with the ideas you want to bring in your product, and without the DLCs, with the practical timeline, some ideas have to be cut out (that's the way games have been developed in the last decades).
With the option to post develop and release THAT additional content which was excluded from the retail plan of the game, you have to start preparing the ground for that conted to be included and work perfectly within the retail game, and there you go the reason for the "infamous placeholders", and if you want to include them in the main storyline as crewmates, you have to leave some "space" for them too (specifically talking about the Normandy) so you can easily fit them later on... would you have better liked to have them standing like statues?

Wether you like it or not, before DLCs were a real deal for game, you wouldn't even probably know about those "additional stuff" and without DLCs we wouldn't have right now Zaeed, Normandy Crash Site, the Firewalker Pack and Kasumi, since they were ALL developed AFTER the gold date for ME2, which is approximately around the 20th of December 2009 (data gathered from the ME2 disc for Xbox 360).

So tell me now, considering the facts stated above, WHY are you complaining? Since so far they gave us a lot for free (I didn't included the weapons in the DLC list) I am glad to pay to my favourite developer a small sum (not even 5€) for some additional content, becouse since Baldur's Gate they've earned my trust and so far they've never lost it.
Ofcourse if they'll do something that won't be worth the value, I won't buy it, but till now they're doing great :)

Good post! Agreed.:wizard:

I'm not buying it. She's not a fully fledged character like the others, so I'd just delete her after a while, like I did Zaeed, because it breaks the whole 'getting to know my crew and caring about them'-theme.

You'd think that with the added development time they'd actually HAVE the time to flesh her out, unlike Zaeed who was (understandably?) trimmed to fit the day one-release-window.

Hmm :/

I think the mission looks pretty awesome personally, so I probably would have got it just for that, but I also get a new character and SMG?

NO BRAINER QUESTION! If I have to sell one of my kidneys to get the points to by it.   My wife will be mad but it's worth sleeping on the sofa.   I've been on the sofa anyway playing Mass Effect 2.  Win Win for me

I agree with that. She's understandably underdeveloped since she's DLC, but as with Zaeed who stays on Omega for my canon playthrough, there's not much reason to bring her along without the chance to interact and develop some form of relationship with. They're cardboard cutouts and the characters already in the game are far superior and filled out. Since they're DLCs, the likelihood of them being in ME3 is slim. For that reason, I'd prefer they stayed out of my canon playthrough. Fun to discover the first time round the game, but now I've pretty much had my fill of replays, I'll settle without her.

Reading this thread, it looks like some people are going to be really disappointed with her. So much built up hype. Taking into account recent DLCs, I don't doubt it'll be better than what we've had before it, but it's not going to be great.

The sheep goes "maeh".

I'm buying it. One character in this game is worth more than a lot of used games out there for $15 that I could be spending money on. I think it is worth it. I would like to see longer DLC in the future but all I can do for now is hope.

$7 is a pitcher of beer at the nearest pub and I have no problem paying that. An extra character, weapon, and mission for my favorite game > a pitcher of beer.

So yes I'll be buying it on day 1.

Before the price announcement, I was teetering. I will wait for some reviews and youtubes to find out if there is anything more in that DLC.
As it stands now I am not buying a femZaeed unless there is more.

Yup, I'm buying it as soon as it is released. I just started my 4th playthrough (this time on Insanity) and I'd love a little company from a certain enigmatic thief.
