This thread is meant for you to express how popular you thought some of the Mass Effect characters would be before you got in the community.

For Example: I thought Wrex and Miranda would have huge fan bases, instead they aren't even in the top tier of peoples favorite characters. I also had no clue that Tali was SO popular before I got on this board.

I'm a big Tali fan, but I never realized how popular she was with people until I came here.

I thought Garrus would have the biggest fanbase since he is so 'impressive'. That was until I signed up for these forums and realized Tali had the biggest fan base. That was rather shocking to me actually.

ok something just clicked like an epiphany about why tali might be so popular... judging from her personality and such i first pegged her at being about 13 or 14 in the first game and that might be a factor as to why there are so many talimancers out there... they all could be a bunch of pedos... though like i just said this hypothesis just popped into my head and has yet to be proven... and i know that if it does happen to be correct for the majority that there is a fraction of the talimancers who actually like tali and not for the age she appears to be

I hate Tali. Sorry. I do.

I thought Thane would be popular, and he is, but not nearly as popular as I thought

It is highly unlikely that the popularity of characters on a particular forum is representative of their actual popularity. Polarization is one of the best-known and most-studied human tendencies.

That said, I was still surprised at the zeal behind some of the posts.

When he says community I think he is referring to the forum community.

I knew Garrus would be popular, and he is. I thought Miranda, Mordin, and Grunt would be more popular, and Tali would be less popular. Or at least the post counts would reflect this more.

I really like Wrex (even if he feels formulaic), I just don't feel the need to talk about him.

I played the game and really liked Tali, I never expected her to be so popular or even popular at all since I was made fun of on the old board for suggesting she should have been a love interest in ME1.

I'm surprised so many people like Turians considering they're the first aliens we fought.

I hate Turians!

I mean pretty much so, the characters I liked the most in ME1 were Tali and Wrex, and was more then satisfied with their roles in ME2 considering Zaaed is a more then sufficient replacement for Wrex. Also Mordin is way cool, but like Weiser said about Wrex, I just don't feel the need to talk about him.

Tali had a sizable fan base before the first game came out, so her popularity has never suprised me. Garrus, is perhaps the one I never expected to be as popular as he is. I mean, he always was more whiny than Kaidan (who, isn't whiny, but so often called it)

"Oh, C-Sec held me back!" *whinewhine*
"Doctor Saleon got away from me!" *whinewhine*
"You Spectres don't have to put up with rules! I hate rules!" *whinewhine*

Okay, I kid, but he did complain the most as far as I'm concerned. He did redeem himself in ME2 though, I liked him then.

I didn't think Garrus would be that popular. He was kinda just there in the first game and I had come to believe that his fans consisted of fan girls, that were too straight to go after Liara but disliked Kaiden that much that they would cling to any other male. Mind you, I came out liking him way better in ME2 though.

Tali and Wrex I expected to be popular, they were the ones I believed had the real interesting characters in ME1. Tali is way, way more popular then I imagined and at the very least, Wrex isn't hated.

I'm surprised that Thane, Liara, Kaiden and Ashley aren't more popular. It breaks my heart to put Thane in that same group cause I'm not fond of the other three in anyway, but I feel like to everyone else he is on the same level of popularity.

I'm surprised that Miranda isn't severely hated, but that's me being a bit biased there. I still think the same for Bastila Shan.

Everyone else is kinda in the places I expected them to be. Though I remember reading a survey that was done that put Mordin as the most popular and as much as I love the guy, that floored me.

i thought Garrus and Liara would be more popular compared to the talimancers :P

i believe Legion and Mordin have a sort of "universal-love", where everyone supports them. The dev's know it and so no one really see's there 'positions in me3' a threat. And that's why there aren't a lot of support-banners/threads for them, plus they aren't L.I's.

As for Tali and Garrus (and all the other L.I's) i think people don't want them to be pushed away like ME1 romances so there all there, supporting them.(except jacob bhahahaha aw)

also who's more popular Miranda or Jack in the forums. im not to sure about that >.>

Edit: Oh thanes popular, just not in the 'forums section' you have to go to the NSAS group to find all the activity. There is only abit of idle chat that goes on in his cure-thane thread. Created just to show the devs the thane-love is still there if they dont venture to the groups section.

I was thinking Miranda was gonna get a mega MEGA fanbase but I see more "Tali RULEZ"ers more than anything which I am shocked about.

I guess people aren't into fembots.

I don't think Tali's fanbase is at large as it seems; a handful of her fans are just really REALLY dedicated and active.

I guess I figured Jacob and Miranda would have the biggest fanbases. Only weirdos would go for the alien romances.

The Illium bartender is a lot more popular than I expected. I mean, yeah I thought she was cool but jeez.

Tali's popularity wasn't all that surprising, though the zealousness of some of her fans is.

Jacob's unpopularity is a little surprising. I mean he wasn't the most interesting guy around, but he was also probably the least annoying.

I am still surprised Morinth has so far a 0 fan base which bums me out.
I wonder if it's because Samara has more screen/public time than her. Ive seen no videos on Morinth and its a surprise you can switch samara for her.
She has a saucy personality which I like.
Now to start a "I supposrt Morinth" thing....Nah...Lol. J/k

Could be because i failed to pick her up twice now... Seems you need a full influence bar to actually be able to get her. I had 3 bars and couldn't force the choice. All i get is samara killing her

MAybe next time :P

Actually 3 bars and a half (2 bars and when the third bar is half full) for paragon or renegade and at the point where she goes "I want you to say that you want me and will kill for me" go with either the paragon or renegade choice. Your character tells Morinth she made an oopsey (Speech is differant depending on Paragon or Renegade) and Morinth is like 'Who are you?...Wait your working for that ***** aren't you?" Samara would step in and fight Morinth, Morinith does entise you to help you if you help her stop Samara. Samara says she can still help you as long as you still keep your promise. Then choose "Kill Samara" for it.

PS: the option does pop up if you choose the Paragon choice. I noticed it on my very first run. Also don't choose the middle choice which is the "I want you" choice if I remember right because you'll automaticly kill Morinth in the process no matter what.

Well, yeah, that was quite interesting. After played through ME1 a couple of times, I was like. 'Tali? She's a walking codex entry, why would that be interesting?' The I got here to see all that sick (and some normal) obsession with 'dem hips' which I still can't help but associate with the lack of teenage sexual inercourse. Still, it was interesting to see that sexual attachment to a figure which is actually built up from pixels.

Really?  That's a new thing for you?  You've never seen that before.
