The collector twist was the only thing spoiled for me thanks to some dick face spammer.

Basic, early game stuff mostly - Tali/Garrus were recruitable and romanaceable, Shepard working with Cerebus, the Normandy being destroyed... Nothing really major. I managed to stay pretty spoiler free on my first run.

What annoys me is that a lot of game trailers (and some film trailers) give away a lot of the plot.

Anyway, I got spoiled on the human reaper, kinda, through accidentally seeing an effing poll someone made. I was so mad.

But then when I played the game it wasn't what I expected. It was worse >.< I expected a human... not... that giant thing that made me cack myself laughing.

I tend to not watch any trailers or read news about games in general prior to them coming out. The only exception I have made was I watched the teaser trailer for Fallout: New Vegas and watched all the previews and interviews for Silent Hill: Shattered Memories.

Then again I finished Mass Effect 1 about less then a week before ME2 was released so I couldn't even watch anything. But because of someones Youtube playthrough I did know the Normandy would be destroyed but I stopped watching after reading the description of Part 1.

I was shocked when I found out that Jack was a female and not a male. When I went to recruit Archangel I was so confused that I thought I actually had to kill him so when I found out it was Garrus I literally was yelling at the TV I was so happy.

I have watched the Kasumi trailers though and am kind of sad I did now. I recommend for people to avoid going to forums about a game you want no spoilers for. I am very glad I went into ME2 without any knowledge about the game because it made the experience oh so much better.

nothing much was spoiled for me, i saw the trailer for jack, which i liked, i knew there was a new krogan, and i knew shepard was officially "dead" although i did think it was because she was undercover not a burnt frozen slab of meat that skydived from orbit.

anyone else think that would be a spectacular way to go.. freefall from orbit? :D

All i knew was that Shepard died, and that was it.

Intentionally keep my ears closed to updates, spoilers, trailers, all that stuff.

it's like Christmas, you COULD go looking for presents, but why? it just ruins that surprise~

I don't frequent forums when I know there are real facts finally being released, simple.

None of it was spoiled, I stopped coming to the forum as soon as the game got leaked to torrent sites.

edit: not because I downloaded the game (as could be inferred) but because I knew people would post big spoilers here as soon as they could

I did know most of the squad, and the fact that shepard dies at the beginning. I don't really consider that a spoiler. I didn't know Cerberus brought him back til I started the game though.

I figured out which character must be garrus while playing. I knew Tali was in the squad. I think I found out about Legion before I got to him but while playing.

The collector twist was an awesome surprise for me. I'm glad that wasn't spoiled.

Quite a bit, the intro, Cerberus, Collectors, Garrus/Tali, several other smaller things.. Really annoying when they said they weren't going to spoil much in the trailers etc. but then did it anyway.
(Didn't read the forums etc.)

I'll definately be avoiding anything ME3 related in the time up to the release.

Great analogy :)

I think I'll avoid all game sites including Bioware for ME3 but we'll see. It's still a long way off.

I read 2 big fake spoilers the week before the game launched. I thought the game was ruined for me but both spoilers were fake and I was awesomely relieved to learn the real story.

i don't mind spoilers at all, if a game can't stand up despite 'KNOWING THE TWEEST" then it's not worth playing.

so yeah, i knew about:

-shep and cerb

-romanceable ME1 squaddies

-being able to save/kill your teammates

-the particular team you need to save them all

-when you need to go through the omega relay

-the collector twist

all that, and yet the game remains brilliant. the best part of ME2 is of course the loyalty missions anyway, and those were completely fresh to me. :)

As soon as I saw people saying spoilers were appearing 4 days before scheduled release I steered clear of these forums till I completed the game.

Only way to stop anything being ruined

I thought a couple "twists" were ruined by the conversation wheel popping up too soon. Like when you find out about the Collectors being Protheans. The wheel with a dialogue choice along the lines of: "the Collectors were Protheans" pops up before EDI actually tells you. Its only seconds but that seems like it would have been an easy thing for the game designers to fix. This happens more than once. Though i can't remember any other specific instances.

- Archangel = Garrus
- Shepard dies
- TIMs face
- how the Collectors look
- Wrex being a clan leader
- the new Normandy
- all squadmates
- Shepard working for Cerberus
- and a few loyalty missions

Yep, I've been spoiled.

None. I knew better than to visit this forum before I acquired and finished my copy of the game.

That you could romance a squadmate, seriously. First playthrough I talked to my team, not after every mission but occassionally, and after a while they just told me to get lost and I left them alone. Of course after Horizon, I figured Bioware just cheaped out on the romance or that my ME1 LI would join later. Obviously that didn't work out, and by the time the last mission came there weren't enought conversation options left to start a romance. The best part.... even though I saved Yoeman Kelly, I didn't talk to her right after the mission. So my first play through was horribly dissapointing.

So I my case I guess I would have been better served getting spoilers up front, but generally on any game I play through the first time prior to reading anything (and some games I miss half the content, but if I had enough fun I'll check the forums and play through again).

Hmm, nothing was really ruined for me, but everything that happened someone stated in huge speculation threads on the old forums.  Like the Prothean/Collector theory and Legion being a squadmate, Garrus too.  This kind of bummed me when I came to these moments because none of them surprised me, some part of me was expecting it.  The only thing that was spoiled for me was finding out the collectors were the ones abducting human colonies.

I'm still debating whether or not I will stick around the ME3 forums when they start.

If I do I will wait for very vague plot information, list of squadmates(new and old)((Hopefully!)  Then I will use all my will power to wait and stay away.
