It has been nearly 50 years since the events of The fifth blight and Lorick Tegrane now lives a solitary life i a cabin in the distant rurals of Amaranthine. His existance is a lonely one disturbed only by the occasional visit from his ranger son, but on a stormy night his twilight years are distubed by the arrival of an unexpected guest who leads the old veteran into one last adventure.

Chapter 1: Old forgotten things

Mornings are always the same for me these days, ill wake up screaming and in a sweat having dreamt of some horror i saw at ostagar or denerim and then ill get up in need of a leak. Sometimes im almost glad my freinds died years ago at ostagar and Denerim, it means they don't have to see old lorick getting up in the morning to shuffle to the outhouse .As i rise from the hammock i can see the old shield on my wall, a gift from Queen Fiona that i received so long ago i feel older looking at it.But that was 50 years ago and i was another man.

The Chores around the old farmstead are a comfort, they help me forget things that ive tried to bury in the darkest reaches of my mind. Amaranthine is the land of my birth and it will be here that i meet my end, i always find that a little sad really and not because i regret my life, its more because so many freinds and family lie in foreign soils.

I raised six children in this countryside after the war, i married a local lass and i took up a respected position as master of the Vigil's hounds.Times were good and middle age was a welcome event It seemed i had achieved everything i could hope for in life, i had the respect of all around me and the love of my family. but then nothing ever lasts.

Deidre passed away years ago, many said she'd caught the taint from the stragglers that only occasionally harrased the countryside. whatever the case we had to watch her wither and die, i remembered my other love Sanga and how i had given her a merciful death when she had caught the blight, but the mercies of war are a luxury these peaceful years do not allow.

As i busy myself in the field i can see Aldwin approach through the dirt path below, aldwin tegrane ranger of the grey my youngest son. Deidre had loved him the most of our six and i suppose i did too, those wild green eyes had been so full of life even in those first moments. He had grown older and enjoyed gently coercing tales from my lips of the darkspawn and how id met queen fiona and fought loghain in the civil war, in his eyes i was a legend and he wanted nothing more then to follow my every footstep. He joined the wardens as soon as he was old enough and spent the next decade making me a proud old sod. He is the only one who understood my seclusion and the only one who kept the visits up.

After Deidre's death i retreated to the rurals to live my last days in peace, people had become a constant source of pain for me and so i decided to isolate myself from that agony. Aldwin loved his father too much to leave me to rot up here and so he visits me every chance he gets, like i said i was a legend and he wanted to follow my every step, even in my last days.

Chapter 2: Unwelcome guests

Aldwin greets me with a hug that would put a bear to shame, he is dressed in a travellers atire and his leather armour and tattered cloak add a hardiness to his appearance. We go inside, its beggining to rain and id rather chat by the fire then in a rainstorm.

Outside i can hear the rain pitter pating on the oak roof of my cabin, the fire wards the chill from my old bones and we sit with ale from the celler the conversation turning to familiar territory.

"The vigil stands tall as ever, the new commander is a bit of a fool but then most of them seemed so commanding in the shadow of Queen Fiona" he says with typical enthusiasm " you seem well boy" i say pouring him another mug of ale "Nothing like a career in the wardens to keep me fit da" he replies taking a swig from his cup, he is silent for a moment and i know the conversation will soon turn to less pleasant and far less distant topics.

He stares at me with his green eyes, deidre always said they looked like wolves eyes and his time as a ranger has only added to his wild appearance " why do you still live up here da, its no place to live, why not come back to amaranthine to see Kendrick and wilma?" he asks knowing full well why i stay up here " i can't son, not now....they remind me of your mother too much to see them all at once" i reply feeling sorrow creep through my soul, he sighes and stares into his cup. He opens his mouth to say something but a sudden scream from outside kills any conversation in an instant.

The door slides open with a creak and a cloaked stranger stumbles in, the wind howls across the country outside and rain and lightning fill the sky like the makers wrath. The stranger collapses as aldwin runs forward, gathering the stranger in his arms he pulls back the rain soaked hood to reveal a woman. She stares up " They are coming, hide me...." she moans weakly as aldwin stares into her icy grey eyes.

Aldwin looks to me as if asking for guidance as i move toward the door and stare out into the rain, i look outside to see two dark figures rushing up the hill towards the cabin. I turn to aldwin "wait here with her, i need to get something from the cellar" i say walking towards the stairs, aldwin doesnt need any further instructions, he knows to keep the strangers at bay until we decide what to do with them.

The old cellar stinks of rotting barrels and cheap ale, its here i keep things i would rather not see and as i come to the old chest a sudden feeling of dread fills me. its been so many years since i saw the contents of this locked chest and now fate forces me to see them again.

I unlock the chest with a key i keep in my belt at all times, the hinges open with a nasty creak and reveal the tools of my old life. My twin handaxes shine brightly even after so long in the chest, they have felled darkspawn at ostagar and denerim and loghain's men during the civil war and still after all that they shine.Next to the handaxes is my old armour, leather with reinforced viridium plates and a black mabari emblazoned on the chest. The mabari is my warhound shadowrend who left this world at my hands when his taint became an agony.

I take the armour from the chest and buckle it to my aged frame quickly, once it fit like a glove but now it hangs off my skinny chest as if it was made for a man twice my size. I have no time to ponder the ravages of age and i grab the axes and run upstairs to stand with my son.

The two strangers are close now and they stride towards the doorway with menacing purpose "hail freinds my thanks for giving our charge sanctuary, but she needs to come with us now" one of the cloaked figures says pulling back his hood to reveal a dark haired man with a malicious smile.

"why do you want the girl" my son asks suspicious " we are merely returning her to her father, a family matter that is none of your concern" the grinning stranger replies, the grip on my axes tightens and i know a dangerous situation when i see it.

The stranger looks agitated and frowns slightly " as i said, we are returning her to her father, now please return her to us" he says his tone suddenly more harsh " why did she run from you" i ask " That is none of your concern... now hand her over" he says in a commanding voice, i step forward to bar his path " i don't like your tone, no one is taking her until i have answers" i say both axes ready to strike.

My challenge prompts the stranger to glare at me agressively, he throws his hands up and chants something in a harsh language that makes the air heat and boil with arcane sorcery. The chant fills our ears and sends us crashing into the wall of the cabin.

I black out for a moment, i struggle back from unconsciousness with a grunt and stare up to see the fleeing girl chanting something in an equally fierce voice. Flames fill her hands and flow from her towards our attacker with a fierce hiss, the sorcerer is burned alive instantly and his screams are drowned by the sea of fire that engulfs him.

The second cloaked figure pulls out a large maul and walks toward the now exhausted girl, he punches her with a thuggish blow that knocks her out cold. I waste no time and rise to my feet with a groan, i charge the large thug with a roar and bring an axe down on his leg. He growls and swings his maul at me, the pain makes him clumsy and he misses as i bury my second axe in his shoulder with a sickening crack.

He pushes me to the ground and raises his maul, my axes still buried in his leg and shoulder. He raises the maul with a bellow ready to crush me, then he collapses forward a blade from my son's pack lodged in his head.

Aldwin walks up to me and helps me up we stare at the slain assailants with dark looks " Those men, they would have killed us to get the girl, who could want a daughter that badly?" aldwin asks staring at the girl who now lies unconscious by the dead thug " i don't know son" i reply staring at the burning corpse outside " but our new guest has a lot of explaining to do" i say gruffly, i stare at the strange lass and suddenly realize those men's accents were familiar.

Chapter 3: Answers and Revelations

Tevinter's, i had heard their bizzare speech before in my days as master of the vigil's hound, but what were men of the imperium doing this far south? and why would they be willing to kill in order to retrieve somone.

Our guest awakes quickly after the mayhem has subsided and despite a large bruise to her jaw she appears fine. She stares at us with apprehensive eyes, she is a striking woman to be sure her hair dark black, eyes like silverite and all framed in a thin and well formed face.

She speaks in that strange tevinter tongue at first but soon realizes we can't understand her and switches to ferelden " thank you..." she says standing on weak legs her voice carries a nervous sincerity and i feel sympathy for this stranger.

"Those men" aldwin days pointed to the bodies "why were they hunting you? and why were they willing to kill us?" he asks in a questioning tone "i will...explain" she says motioning for us to sit at the table "but this will take some time" we join her at the table and she begins to recount a dark tale.

The city of minrathous has never been spoken of with much love in the lands of the south,it is the heart of an empire that corrupted the makers halls. It was into this cities intrigues and secrets that valeria was born, her father she tells us is a powerful magister who rules over one of the fraternities in the tevinter circle.

Valeria has spent her life being groomed as her fathers secret weapon, she tells us she wasn't merely conceived she was bred for her sorcerous talents and her father intended to use her to complete his political schemes.Im hardly surprised to hear that her father is a maleficar, a blood mage but the fact that he created his own child for her skill in forbidden magic alone makes me fearful.

As one might expect when Valeria found out that her whole existance was based soley on her use as an arcane weapon she attempted to flee her fathers twisted schemes. She speaks with a matter-a-fact voice of the nights spent in fleeing through back alleys and wilds to escape her father's cloaked agents.

I ask her what she intends to do "Rivain" she replies " i need to get to rivain, there are forces there that can protect me from my father" i sigh knowing i will need to make a choice " the port in amaranthine can take you to rivain" i say looking at aldwin.

Aldwin walks outside "Tevinter mages! Blood magic! father we need to report this to the commader of the grey!" he says in an agitated voice " if we inform the commander then he will go to the crown and then this will become a diplomatic affair, and the crown won't protect this girl from her father" i reply in a grim voice.

Aldwin stares at his boots for a moment and then looks up his dilemma resolved "Amaranthine then, if the crown is a liability then we should do this discreetly" i nod in agreement and we return to the cabin. I don't know why i am so eager to aid this valeria but my gut tells me that it would be wrong not to, so i will take her to amaranthine and maker help me for i fear the two thugs we met tonight won't be the last

Chapter 4: The bleak Road

The early morning doesnt bring any improvement on last nights weather, in typical ferelden fashion the sky is now filled with grey storm clouds and the rain is busying itself soaking the road and eveything travelling upon it. Aldwin walks at the head his ranger senses keeping an eye out for any trouble, Valeria walks at my side and says little as we travel.

She is a strange woman and i can't help but feel angry whenever i look at her, to think that some vile magister lord would rather have a weapon then a daughter. The damage her father has done to her is easy to see, she carries a thousand woeful memories with her and her life is that of a fleeing slave rather then a beloved daughter. Magister's never did like the stuck up mages even back in my days as master of the vigil's hounds, and the ones that visited the vigil were on their best behaviour too.

The mud clings to our boots as we trudge towards the lowlands, ive been living up in the hills so long id almost forgotten that a civilisation was busy flourishing on the ferave plain. Suddenly the rain in the sky ceases and a the sun parts the clouds and begins to brighten our way, Valeria smiles and hums a song that i don't know the words to. Noticing my curiosity she explains the songs origins "old tevinter song, my maid in Minrathous used to sing it to me when i grew sad, that was often so i grew fond of the tune" then she smiles and suddenly the day seems far less oppressive.

"What was life in minrathous like" i ask my old mans curiosity now picqued " Very strict" she replies as memory fills her face "father kept me on a tight leash and i was followed everywhere, and he forced me to learn countless magical lessons many of which were forbidden" she sighs and stares at the muddied ground  for a moment " i fled the city a year ago and never looked back, i like the freedom life on the road gives me and when i get to rivain hopefully my freinds there can keep me safe" she says the smile returning, i grin and secretly pray that she isn't simply being naieve.

The road ahead leads into the feravel plain and as we move closer to it a sudden excitement fills me, amaranthine jewel of the north awaits and this old fool is on an adventure again. My enthusiasm for the journey ends abruptly when aldwin raises his hand and gives a halting signal, there is a party of cloaked men ahead and that means trouble.

There are ten of them this time and once again  we are adressed by a cloaked leader " Fereldens you have something that belongs to my master! surrender it or we will take it by force" he yells as his men draw their weapons, valeria steps forward "firstly" she yells back " I am a human being" her hands begin to glow and the air boils with unnatural heat as fire fills her fists " and secondly you picked the wrong morning to seek me out" she sends the arcane fire streaming towards the unwitting tevinters and three of the cloaked men are burnt alive instantly, the leader of the cloaked figure beings chanting arcane wards as i and aldwin charge.

I may be 70 but i am a veteran of the fifth blight and if life teaches you anything it is to be wary of a man who ostagar could not claim. my axes cleave open the chests of my assailants as i press forward trying to reach the leader, but his thugs crowd around blocking my path.

Aldwin draws a longsword and slices through the neck of another fool who had been trying to impale him on a two hander, we press forward as Valeria and the cloaked leader duel with arcane word and gesture. The air feels unnaturally hot and boils with arcane magics, the henchmen fall around us like flies but as the last of them collapses beneath aldwins sword something unexpected happens.

The cloaked leader pulls back his hood to reveal a grey haired man with an utterly cold expression and the same steely eyes as Valeria "Father?!" she crys in shock "you led me on a hunt across thedas child but this ends now, time to return to minrathous and fulfill your purpose"  he says in a harsh voice "i will not go with you!" Valeria yells raising her hands and forming a glyph "you will have no say in the matter now Sleep!" the last word is uttered in a voice that fills our heads, i would scream but ive no breath to do so. Everything goes dark as my vision fades.

I awake some time later sorrounded by the corpses of the men we fought, but valeria and her father are long gone, aldwin awakes with a groan " makers breath! gone! the bastard took her!" i yell enraged and ashamed at my failure to protect her "Da he didn't kill us, he must have been in a hurry to escape with her" i stare at the road ahead "they will go to amaranthine and we will never reach them in time" i say dispondant, aldwin stares at me suddenly angry " Father we are not giving up on her!  we know this country as only local men can know it and this mage will likely be slowed by his prisoner, if we hurry we can reach amaranthine before him!"  my son speaks sense and i nod in agreement.

A father who travelled the length of thedas to hunt a daughter he plans to use as a weapon to gain power, and all that stands between him and sucess is an old man and his youngest son, this is starting to sound like one of my grandfathers aweful tales. My son is correct though, this magister will head for amaranthine and its ports and i swear we will get there before he sails.

 Chapter 5: The city

After what seems like an eternity of hard slog we reach the gates of the city, amaranthine jewel of the north. The city has changed much since the time of rendon howe and queen fiona, it was burnt to the ground during the blight to stop the darkspawn capturing it and the new city was built on its ruins years later. The new city is far larger then its past incarnation and its great viridium gates are crowded with people entering and leaving the city.

We head to the Queens rest a large inn located on the ruins of an older tavern, its owned by my eldest son kendrick and is the best place to get the information we need. Kendrick won't be happy to see me,its  nearly 5 years since he last saw me  and i don't blame him for hating me. I begin to wonder how many of my children despise me, wilma  and aldwin i know could never hate me but kendrick spits on my name, Breln vanished for the marches years ago, Henry was in orlais last time i checked and charis....well she's likely working in a dirty denerim borthel.

I failed my children, after deidre's death i fled to the hill country and lived as a hermit when they needed me most and the revelation strikes me like a blade to the chest. If is survive this all i will use what time i have left to make ameds, but then  thats a pretty big if and seems unlikely given who we are chasing.

We enter the inn and take seats in one of the side booths, the place is filled with music and drunks and i sometimes pity the person who has to clean up every night. Aldwin turns to me " I asked after an old freind when we entered the city, he's a little secretive but he will know where to find the girl" he says inclining his head to a hooded figure approaching our table.
"Father i give you the darkwolf" aldwin says in a quiet voice, i want to ask how my son knows the most infamous spy in all of ferelden after the arl of shadows but given the circumstances i decide to nod my head and keep quiet. The darkwolf sits down next to aldwin and orders a pint, he's not the origional darkwolf despite the rumours that he's immortal but he is a man who knows whats what in the city. His pint arrives and he takes a large gulp before unrolling a map on the table.

He points to a marked old wharf " Nathaniel wharf" he says "a tevinter galley is docked there and sails tommorow evening, the man you seek is anxious to leave but the storms battering the sea have delayed his escape, which is fortunate for you aldwin because he was going to sail on arrival in the city" he sits back, hood still shrouding his face and i can see the flash of white teeth indicating a satisfied grin.

"how many guards" i ask pondering the size of a galley housing a magister " at least twenty armed men and well over one hundred slaves. are you sure you are up to this old man...they won't show you mercy" he says in a srious voice " i made a promise to help that girl and i aim to keep it, besides that bastard sounds powerul enough to raise all kinds of chaos if he gets what he wants" i reply in a determined tone, he nods and begins to outline the approach to the ship.

And so im going to attack a magister lords galley with nothing but my axes, a spy and my youngest son, deidre always said i was slightly mad and im starting to believe she was right. Still ive lived long enough to know its better to die doing right then live in the wrong. If nothing else i can atone for the neglectful life i have lived for the past decade, and that atonement will likely be through my death.

Chapte 6: The Dream that comes before

Sleep comes easy, strange that the unconscious fade draws me in so easily when i might die tommorow evening but it does. My dream is not so tranquil, i find myself on the balcony of a high tower staring at a burning landscape and the smell of blood and fire clings to my nostrils like sickening perfume.

This is not ostagar or denerim though and Valeria stands next to me on the balcony, we stare at the burning horizon in eery silence. " This is a vision of what may come" she says in an ominous voice that echoes in my head " if my father suceeds, if the archon's throne is won by blood magic and demonic deals then he shall forge a dark imperium over thedas" her words chill my old bones all the more because of the sight before me.

Valeria approaches me suddenly glowing, she stares at me for a moment and then places a hand upon my chest, fire and pain fill my being and i try to back away. My legs have no strengh and i am suffused with agony, then it stops abruptly "what did you do to me!"  i growl in a breathless voice " i gave you a weapon to defeat my father" she replies standing over me " when the time comes you will know what to do" she turns from me and the dream fades into blackness.

The scene changes and i am standing in a frozen hall, a women in a white robe stands before me her face shrouded by bright glow " Lorick Tegrane! warrior of the ash, you have been chosen" she says in a booming voice "for what!?!" i call out confused "The magister lord's plans are anathema against my husbands creation, stop him and save the charge i sent to you" the vision fades again into blackness and consciousness returns

I awake in a sweat the pain of the dream still vivid, but with the pain comes a realisation and i know why i have to help Valeria. Her father....is evil...not because he is tevinter, and not because he is a mage but because he will sacrifice anything on the alter of his ambition. This magister would use his own flesh and blood as a weapon, he would even give up his soul in order to create a new imperium.

Aldwin stares at me " father are you alright?" he asks concerned "just a dream" i reply rising from my bed " now come we have a magister to stop" i gather my armour and prepare for my last battle, i could almost laugh at this strange turn of events, my only regret is that i face this battle without my faithful hound.

Chapter 7: Magisters end

Few men would be stupid enough to consider infiltrating a heavily defended tevinter galley easy, but then very few men have the current incarnation of the darkwolf to guide them. We creep past the deck guards with practiced ease all of us well versed in the art of stealth, and down into the bowels of the ship we creep.

The slaves line the lower decks in chained rows and the whole place stinks of urine, feces, sweat and living misery, but we have no time to stop to help and even though i pity these poor souls valeria is more important.
And so we creep past the hundreds of chained and broken figures that lie whimpering and slumbering at our feet, we descend further into the ships depths knowing the brig can't be far.

As we reach the prison section we see it, the runes on the vaulted cell door glow angry red and we know this is where the magister holds his daughter. The two guards are easily dispatched, a knife in the ribs of one and a slit  throat for the other soon quiet them. The door proves to be a more difficult opponent, its runes glow more fiercely as we approach.

" Damn it! this door looks like it was made with mage prisoners in mind!" aldwin says cursing under his breath "how do we open it?" i ask calmly "relax old man i came here well prepared" the darkwolf says with a grin "for fity sovereigns i should hope so" aldwin says with a chuckle.

The darkwolf takes a strange amulet from his pack and instructs us to stand well back " these things have a bit of a kick lads!" he says raising the amulet high " Nke Selku morden!" he mumbles in an alien sounding tongue, the doors wards begin to fade and cracks begin to fill the metal of the door. The door breaks into shards and collapses before our eyes "what in the makers name did you spend those sovereigns on wolf!" aldwin asks amazed " some mage in the college owed me a favour Dweomer amulet its  supposed to break wards, looks like the mage wasn't kidding" the wolf says stepping over the shattered rubble with a chuckle.

Valeria sits on a steel bench her arms and legs chained with steel bearing similar runes to the door's, she looks up at us with surprised eyes " you live! i thought father had killed you" she says in a joyful tone " he was in a hurry" aldwin replies as the darkwolf uses the amulet on her chains, which shatter instantly " in any case thank the maker you came, we need to leave ....now!" she rises from the bench and we begin to run

Unsurprisingly her father awaits us on the top deck of the ship with a dozen tevinter guards surrounding him, he smiles maliciously as he sees us approach "how stupid do you think me child?, did you not think i would sense my wards destruction!" the smile fades from his face as valeria raises a bleeding palm " i was counting on it father" she says with a wicked smile, the guards around the magister begin to shake and bleed and the world around us warps and twists as the fade pulls us in.

I awake on a high hill in a place that seems like islands floating in a sea of nothingness, in the land below i can see valeria and her father hurling arcane energies at eachother while my son and the darkwolf stare amazed.I move forward as the landscape around me blurs and twists unnaturally, i move with resolve not entirely my own towards the two dueling sorcerers who recognise me on my approach.

" You dog loving barbarians are an infernal nuisance!"  the magister growls "when i have the archons throne i shall burn your nation to the ground!" he roars as Valeria shatters his arcane shields with a wave of magical energy, the energy knocks him to the ground with a loud thud.  He kneels and curses me as i approach " damn you! i swear i shall make you all pay i swear it!" he screeches as he summons a blazing spear of sorcerous light and hurls it at me, my son yells something but i feels suddenly distant as the bolt burns through my body.

The world does not grow dark however and i simply continue moving towards the magister, he stares at me with horror as he notices that my body now glows with magical lines. I stand over him with my mind consumed by an unseen directive, Valeria did something in that dream and that something now overrides my mind and acts for me.

I place a hand on  the magisters temple and an angry sea of energy flows through me and begins to form chains around the magister, Valeria made my body host to a spell and that spell was a prison fashioned for her father. He hisses in pain as the energies chain his body to the ground, but just as the magics begin to set he whispers something and forces his arm forward with a roar. The lightning bolt rips through me as he becomes encased in magical chains and this time i fall back and the world does begin to blacken.

I awake with a weak groan, back in the real world and surrounded by corpses as valeria and the others stare down at me. The magister is nearby his body still alive but staring with glazed eyes his soul still trapped in the fade by valeria's spell, i stare down to see the wound the magisters spell inflicted on me it is already bleeding.Valeria weeps with tears in her eyes and aldwin struggles to hold them back with no success "father no!" he roars as he grasps my broken body in his arms, but i stare out at the ships ramp and see  two figures approach.

The figure in front lowers his hood to reveal a tall and elderly elven man " Valeria thank the creators you live!" the second figure says embracing her and revealing herself to be a young elven woman " but at what cost!" valeria says kneeling beside me " this man chose to save me despite knowing me only a few days, and now he is dying because of me" she says a tear falling from her cheek " fortunate we found you when we did, i believe i can still save this man" the tall elf says with a calm tone " please allow me to see the wound" everyone gives him room and he begins to chant in elven.

When his chanting is finished a glowing palm rests on my wound and fills me with warmth, when the hand is removed my wound is gone " hmmm the old magic is still strong, now come valeria we need to leave the guards will likely be here soon and i doubt they will greet strange elves with any humour" he says in an urgent voice.

Valeria unties her necklace and places it in my hand gently " i will never forget what you and your son did for me, i am going to Llomerryn in rivain and if ever you or your kin find yourselves there you will be welcomed" she says rising and moving towards her companions. The last thing i see before i black out is her waving at me, i smile and then slip away.

Epilogue

Valeria's companions turned out to be none other then a keeper of the Llomerryn dalish and his daughter who she had freed during her escape from her father. She fled with them to rivain and lived at last free from her fathers twisted designs, the elves often joked of the irony of a magister's daughter living amongst them.

The magister was found by the city guard along with his slain guards and a boat filled with elven slaves, assuming smugglers the guards released the slaves and the body was shipped back to tevinter to avoid an incident.

The Warden commander in charge of the arling was told a modified version of events by Aldwin and was content to cover the whole incident up.

The magisters body soon withered away along with his ambitions and to this day remains trapped in the fade imprisoned by his daughters spell.

The Darkwolf returned to his shadowy work and had many more adventures which added to the already legendary reputation of the line of spies who bore the name.

Aldwin returned to his duties as a warden and continued to distinguish himself with brave deeds including the destruction a band of straggler darkspawn that had threatened farms in the feravel plain.

Lorick recovered from his adventure in the company of his estranged family over the days that followed, he decided not to return to his highland seclusion and instead stayed in amaranthine to rebuild the bonds of family he had failed to keep years before. Eventually lorick went to denerim to save his daughter charis from a life of poverty, she returned with him a month later and would often remark at how her father seemed renewed by the events of his last adventure. Lorick would live for many more years before dying at peace in his bed surrounded by loved ones, he was buried in the soil of his homeland and the king of ferelden at the time dedicated a great statue to the famed old ash warrior.
