I started playing ME1 again just for fun and I just completed the Cerberus mission and for some reason I kept think of Armistan Banes. After they found him dead Cerberus went rouge. The team that found his dead body was killed by a Cerberus distress beacon that was placed on a thresher maw's nest. What do you guys think, any other theory's to who he may be.

I beleive he is. It's just strange that the people who go to investage Banes "dead" body turn up to be killed by Cerberus and the admiral who lead the investigation was killed by Cerberus. Not to mention Banes was part of a secret project for the Alliance and some people still believe he is dead.

Absolutely. It is also strange when Captain Anderson gets angry/in shock when asked about Banes, then says he does not want to know where you heard the name.

I just check Mass Effect Wiki and it as no info on him. It just talks about the mission so I know I didn't miss any other missions that involved him.

That may every well be true. TIM is very well informed.

P.S. I think I start calling the Illusive Man TIM cause my name is Tim and it will be like everyone is talking about me.

Yes, of course! They're the same person! Now all we have to do is figure out why TIM spent billions bringing Shep back to life, while TSB tried to sell his corpse to the collectors!

Everyone knows that TIM is simultaneously Armistan Banes, Miranda's father, Harbinger, Shepard's longlost brother, Liara's grandfather, President of Mexico, George Washington, Waldo, and the Shadow Broker at the same time. He descended from Sovereign and was born at the age of 17 in Medieval England during the 100 Years War. He is also Elvis.

He's also the illegitimate love-child of Edward and Jacob.

And he's actually Tali.

It's all MAKING SENSE.

The Illusive Man can't be the shadow broker, because in the original Liara questline she became the Shadow Broker.

Captain Anderson is the Shadow Broker and the Illusive Man and Nihlus.

He just wears masks.

If TIM was the Shadow broker, the quest where you can opt to sell TSB a copy of the data you pulled from Cerberus computers becomes whack.

Possibly, TIM is Armistan Banes. The name seems to suit him really well. I already posted my theory on TIM in another post, but maybe Armistan Banes decided the Alliance wasn't doing enough to help Humanity advance, therefore he either faked his death or Anderson was lying to Shepard in ME1.

I do not believe that TIM is a Reaper agent-- they are trying to destroy humanity-- but I believe he wants to create a stronger human race using Reaper technology, and that's why he wants the Collector Base. His objective is to advance humanity--no matter what the cost, yes? Not The Alliance viewpoint. Also, consider the storylines in Mass Effect: Retribution and Mass Effect: Redemption. He was looking into humans who had Reaper technology. No way would the Alliance like this! I have yet to read the books, but I might consider reading them.

I like this idea. I'm replaying ME1 at the moment and have just had the conversation with Anderson about Banes. I never for a moment, in my slow, dull skull, put 2+2 together, but it would really make some great sense.

So I have another reason for hating TiM - for killing my lovely Kahoku :((

Banes makes a lot of sense as the Illusive Man-- it is a bit mysterious why we get all the conversation options to ask about Banes and it turnes out to be a bit of a dead end. There is also a clear connection between him and Cerberus.

The Shadow Broker and the Illusive Man makes absolutely no sense what so ever. Anybody remember how the Shadow Broker wants a copy of the Cerberus files you capture in Mass Effect 1? Anybody pay any attention to Liara's story between ME1 and Me2? Please put this "theory" to rest.
