Hi peeps.

I was toying around with the developer console that you can activate on the PC version of the game. I managed to change history and retrieve Leliana, which was actually my main goal :)

I'm not *entirely* sure how i did it. What I tinkered with were these commands:

runscript zz_addparty Leliana (also tried without the zz)
runscript zz_addcompanion Leliana (same)
runscript zz_selectparty

After two visits to the party select screen Leliana springed magically into the universe, despite the Character Codex still sayng I turned her away/never met her.

The save file I used was pretty close to leaving Lothering, so maybe it won't work all the time. I will go see if I can do the same with other optional characters.

Interesting for those who turned down important characters. Wynne might be more useful, many people kill her and than learn it's the only real healer in the game.

If you ever figure out how to delete a party member, shoot me a message!

I regret ever picking up Dog. His barking at the camp while I'm trying to chat up my other party members drives me insane!

Hey it works it really works!

I played around a bit more and got ZEVRAN (who I killed) into the party too :)

On a save that takes place after his ambush, of course.

Now time to try Wynne. The trick seems to be going into the party select screen, then typing in the codes (making sure companion names are capitalized properly) and when you pick your party and try to exit the selection screen, you get bounced back into it and voila - instant expanded party! :)

Yep - just managed to complete the entire party! Yay.

I was in a late save, at the camp site. I went to the party selection screen, then typed in the four possible command lines I listed in my original post. I chose my party, exited, then went back in the selection screen and every time i returned to it I had another new companion :)

Just one little problem (or two). When I found Leliana on the early save, she was fine but on the later save her and the other new additions don't have a character portrait on the GUI. Also, they seem to be lacking any skills, despite being level 15.

Of course, the second problem can also be fixed by using the console. I'll try saving and reloading to see if that fixes the portraits...

Yes! Portraits loaded when I saved then reloaded the game. Also stats were blank because the characters need levelling :)

Yay! I can't believe I actually found a workaround for missed companions, go me!

Sorry console peeps, only works for the PC...

Interesting. Thank for letting us know! Do you think there will be any conflicting flags when you do this?

There is some weirdness but nothing game breaking (yet!).

The first time you talk to Zevran, he will go through his first convo with you (i.e. him waking up after failing to kill you). This convo will take place in a void, which you are then dumped into after the convo ends. However all is not lost - it's not really a void, you can still see your campsite a few hundred feet away. Just run back to it, skirt around the edge until you get near the zone exit, and choose to leave the camp (if only for a moment), then return.

It's actually fun wandering around the "wrong side" of the terrain for once :)

Oh and after that first glitched convo, further chats with Zevran will be fine. So far, the only real bug is that retrieved companions lack skills/abilities. I have no problem with this, since I was only retrieving them to go through conversations and romances anyway, plus you can use the console's autolevel code to give them at least some skills.

It's no substitute for just starting a new game, but if you just wanted to check out the possibilities of companions you missed then it works just fine.

Oh and of course, the earlier you can pull off this trick, the fewer skills the companions will be missing.
