As much as I'd love Leliana back, I suspect she'll only appear as long as Alistar, Anora, Loghain, and Wynne did.

Well, we've had DLC's with some companion interaction (RtO, SP, WK, Awakening and even FeastDay) and a DLC with no companion interaction (DC). I think it likely the next DLC they release will have some sort of companion interaction.

The problem with creating a game with multiple open endings is the cannon of continuity; not everyone romanced Leliana and even those that did may or may not have hardened her and so on...

The quantity of possible permutations complicates things for developers when events and interactions are carried over through installments so much so that I believe rather than sacrifice the "freedom of choice" of the original develops will opt for a new story unhindered by the events of the prior game.

Saying that.... GIB MOAR LELIANA NAO!!

It's not the developers job to dictate the storyline. I'm sure Bioware has an entire team of writers who are scripting the entire storyline. Have you ever seen FlashForward? It's a show where every possible future storyline is mapped out on a big board. The Bioware writers undoubtedly have mapped out every possible permutation of every combination of companions and outcomes. They just tell the devs what scenes and setups are needed and get the VA's to say their lines.

Undoubtedly, they'll tie up some of the loose ends or branch outcomes so that they'll intersect with other outcomes and reduce the number of possibilities that way.

Anything can happen . . . even the death of a companion . . . don't rule it out.

Yep i'm familiar with FlashForward and Dyson Frost's Garden of Forking Paths, the point I was originally trying to make was that the more permutations that occur in the original mean that more permutations must be recognized to be carried forward which equals more time, coding and VA work which ultimately means more cost.

As for interconnecting branching storylines while I see the pro of that idea to reduce the quantity and complexity of permutations I would worry it would inevitably diminish the overall integrity of the original story branches.

While the kid in me that played BG2 and loved the romantic continuity from BG2 to ToB keeps hoping for more Leliana and Morrigan the adult in me just thinks it highly unlikely we will ever see them again in the same romantic fashion we enjoyed them through Origins.

I think we have to be realistic. Some of us are looking for a sense of continuity in a fantasy world that we cannot have in real life. People change over time and circumstances. You'd think that in such a violent and turbulent setting as DA, changes would be moreso the case. That's why I don't rule out companion deaths happening . . . it certainly is one way to terminate a story branch, unpleasant as that may seem.

King Alistair is assassinated by a Crow hired by a Loghain loyalist.
Zevran is ambushed and killed by the Crows.
Leliana is arrested and executed by Orlesian guards while spying in Orlais.

Morrigan is the only one I can see surviving, for sure, since she's central to the storyline with her baby.

[Related to Leli/Corinne, if not to the DLC...]

Two autographed copies of DA:O will be the prizes in a fund-raiser for Corinne Kempa's short film project. I've pasted some of the info below.

I have some fantastic news!!! A competition dedicated to Dragon Age fans to help raise funds for my charity adoption film!

Thanks to the wonderfully generous Claudia Black, there are 2 signed copies of Dragon Age Origins by Claudia and myself to be won!

To have a go at winning, you must buy a virtual ticket for £5, of course you can purchase more than one ticket (or donate a lump sum) to have more chances to win, when completing payment details just enter 'competition DAO' in the field that says 'instructions to merchant'.

The 2 winners will be picked at random by a computer system, and will be announced on the website. I wish you luck!
The competition will be closing on the 21st of June!

More details about the film are at: [ www.corinnekempa.com/#/short-film-project/4539626014 ]

And did I mention that I think she looks much more like my idea of Morri than Victorria Johnson?
See: [ www.corinnekempa.com/#/photo-4/4539873859 ] as support for that assertion!
