After two days, I finally got Mass Effect to work on my Windows 7, thanks to the good people here on the forums. You could imagine my delight as I found the graphics didn't work properly. It doesn't matter what setting they are on, they still stuff up. The main problems are long pink and white lines that come out of character's eyes, a flickering screen all the time, and Doctor Chakwas's face being bright green. I have only played the game for about two minutes so I don't know the horrors waiting for me planetside. Can anyone else help with my problem?

Specs are always good when posting for tech help.

Knowing only that you have graphics glitches, about all I can advise you to do is make sure your graphic card's drivers are up to date and that ME is patched to 1.02. Which I imagine you've probably already done if you've been having a lot of trouble getting it to run.

Yeah, I've patched it to 1.02. I don't know how to find my specs which doesn't help.

You will do better on that subject at the old Legacy Forums for ME-1.
Meanwhile, this forum(where I wrote my reply now being quoted) is
strictly the ME-2 PC version, and the Social site's ME-1 forum is
combined with the Xbox 360 Tech as well, and there are very few
available resources there.

Chris Priestley's Fill in the blanks instructions:

If you don’t find a similar problem already reported, consider starting a
new thread. Note that most of this information can be obtained by using
the game’s Configuration Utility which is available by pressing the
[Configure] button from the game’s launcher:

1.      Which Game Are You Playing (Can be skipped over if it's ME-2)

  a.      Since this forum is (WAS) for both ME1 (PC) and ME2 (PC) it’s
important (previously it was) to identify which product is experiencing the
problem. (That situation in't true any longer, however, please see item
1-b, below.
)

b.     Media: physical disk or digital download (and which vendor)

c.      Configuration Utility | Game Tab

    * Version Information: MassEffect2.EXE

2.      System Details

a.      Configuration Utility | Summary Tab

    * Processor / Core Speed / RAM

* Display Adapter / VRAM / Driver Version (just saying "latest drivers"
doesn't help)

* Sound Adapter / Driver Version

  b.     Configuration Utility | Platform Tab

    * Operating System (& service pack if applicable)

    * Direct X Version

3.      Problem Details

a.      When it comes to problem details, think about the five basic ques-
tions: Who? What? When? Where?  Why? Okay, so “Who?” doesn’t
really apply here, but the others do.

  b.     What? What is the nature problem that you’re seeing?

  c.      When? When does the problem occur? Every time you engage
in a particular action or only after so many hours of play?

  d.     Where? Where does the problem occur? Is the problem
localized to a particular planet or does it occur everywhere?

  e.     Why? As much as possible, can you isolate the problem to a
specific set of steps?

If you follow these guidelines, and provide the requested information
when posting, it will increase the likelihood that someone will be able
to help you diagnose the problem and find a solution.

Please report issues, after checking these steps, in new threads.

P. S.  Please use every day business style punctuation and spelling.  Solid
blocks of unbroken text are ignored, as is foolish TM-style misspelled &
unintelligible gibberish.
