And he´s a great counter-point for Sigrun; probably my fave dwarf in whole Dragon Age universe.Dark Lilith wrote...
he's kinda like the "white trash" trailer park character of DA and DAA, he's cool!

I was looking forward to seeing the Oghren character developed. Now I really wished they'd left it alone. My opinion of him took a nosedive. In fact, I'm not looking forward to the point in my new Origins playthrough when Oghren shows up. I'd really rather not see him again. Hopefully getting to know him in Origins again will make me like him again. Or maybe I'll just leave him in camp this time.
Is there anyway to explain w/o posting spoilers? Why did your opinion nosedive?

I haven't really played with...Oghren in Origins, though.

Did you ever take him with you to Warden's Keep and side with A? His reaction to Oghren is brilliant. Seems unless you actually bring him with you for some time it's hard to like him, he's probably the only character who I found I liked more after making him a permenant companion, everyone else I had pretty much figured after meeting them.KDawg0713 wrote...
I did't hate him in Origins, but after Awakening he turned into one of my favorite characters. He made me laugh my ass off throughout and without any spoilers I think his line at the final boss was one of the funniest.
I'd agree with the joining bit, he could've at least fallen over...yasuraka.hakkyou wrote...
for me, his comments in Awak.
are just irritating and mysogynistic. and his possible joining? kills
the mood IMO. he's like a stereotypical dwarf / pimp, I guess.
I

I'd have to get spoilery--although I notice people aren't letting that hold them back.
While it has nothing to do with my opinion of him, per se, his joining ceremony really, really pissed me off and cheapened the ritual, and the deaths that resulted from it in prior joinings. It was a stupid, unthinking place to add humor.

I prefer Zevran for being the first gay character with a non-stereotypical personality that you can romance, Wynn for her gentle sayings and genuine perilous condition you can learn more about, Allistair for helping him cope with his loss and getting to know him better as a friend, Morrigan for trying to make her come out of her shell, and hell, any of the others.
The problem is that he isn't anything really new or exciting. He had some funny dialogue, but i was more interested in what my other party members had to say.

He reminds of the character Ray from Riding in Cars with Boys. (Drew Barrymore, Steve Zahn). Which is funny because I liked Ray's character. He seemed like a nice guy, like Oghren, but a horrible family man.

I'd have to get spoilery--although I notice people aren't letting that hold them back.Let's see.... In Origins, he had a somewhat raunchy sense of humor--that was funny, rough edges, and a good heart. In Awakening, he was really crude without being funny, caustic in a way he hadn't been before, and it was hard to believe that the guy who would look for Branka for years was also a guy who would abandon the responsibilities he abandoned to come to Amaranthine. That's especially true when you consider what a very short time this is from the end of Awakening, certainly less than a year. He didn't try to deal with those responsibilities for very long.
While it has nothing to do with my opinion of him, per se, his joining ceremony really, really pissed me off and cheapened the ritual, and the deaths that resulted from it in prior joinings. It was a stupid, unthinking place to add humor.
Well thank you for eleborating. Granted I love him because he's a drunk, dirty, funny, dwarf... but I can see why you wouldn't.
Kinda like me with Sten... I just can't like him after what he did.
