I disliked Oghren in Origins, but I respected him at the same time. I understood what he'd been through and I could see where he was coming from. He developed over time and it looked like he'd finally gotten his life back on track. In the end, I felt that we wouldn't ever be best buds, but I could have a reasonably good working relationship with him.
In Awakenings, I kept going "uh...wtf?" over and over and eventually decided that if I was really the warden commander, I'd have either sent him on a bogus deep recon mission and hope he died taking out a lot of darkspawn, or I'd have have sent him to Weisshaupt for "special training" and let the friendly, fun-loving wardens there deal with him.
And yes, his reaction totally cheapened the Joining, but then the Joining as a whole was handled badly in Awakenings.
How do people feel about Oggy now that the games out????

I loved Oghren in Origins, loved the speech about honor and being a warrior again at the final battle, and couldn't wait to see him in Awakening. He had a lot of great lines in Awakening (most of my laugh-out-loud moments came from his cutscenes), but it didn't quite feel like the Oghren I knew. The tone was different. And then Felsi enters the picture as part of his personal quest. Once I got the story of their relationship, the bloom was off the rose. Where was that honor he talked about? He fought for two years to find Branka. I wasn't seeing that kind of loyalty with his personal quest in Awakening. His crude jokes with hitting on the other female companions weren't as funny. It did put a damper on my Oghren enthusiasm and I got over it by my third playthrough. To be honest, I just wish they didn't include the Felsi story for Awakening. I know it's realistic, but on some level, it's just not cool either. I have a little child myself and that is probably coloring my reaction to the Oghren and Felsi relationship because I don't see it as a laughing matter.
I still love him in Origins though!
