Curious what the term would be however.  I bet there would still be a similar stigma regardless.

I'm not a female gamer, but the romances did not seem that off. Granted I have yet to recieve the PRIIIIIIIZE, I thought the romance for Garrus and Thane was fine.

I am sure though I would have enjoyed the romance for Thane if I had a bit more estrogen in me, it really came off as a romance for actual women. Though I thought the romance for Garrus was actually quite good; sure it does start off with Shepard bluntly offering Garrus to sleep with her, but the romance takes a big jump torwards the end. The way Garrus tells Shepard that she is the only one left that he trusts, the stress he has gone through scares him that things may go wrong, I liked that.

+1 :D

And Sago_mulch, to disprove your blatant troll-ness to all, would you kindly type in SOMETHING OTHER THAN ALL-CAPS?  GEE, THANKS!!!!!!!!!!

And @Onyx:  D'ja notice how Phoenix' s hair looks like Garrus's fringe?  Mmmm, of course...I object, Commander B)

The stigma would be unjustified.

I agree that the female romance options are a bit lacking. Jacob and Thane, not a chance! However, I did do the Garrus romance, I thought it was cute. I never would have expected Garrus to be so "shy".

Bestiality only happens in those back woods towns full of one race people (not gonna say which) who believe in incest and stuff. The ME universe has no bestiality in it at all.

i may get some flaming for saying this, but look to NWN2 or twilight or just about any romance novel, movie, etc. written for women and you'll see what is popular:
2 hot guys that LIKE YOU.
why is tali so popular? she loves shep and always has. THAT is attractive: interested is interesting.
the unbelievable luke-warm response that you get from the guys in ME2 just makes me say guh.... "i don't have some fetish for humans or anything" wow. thanks. again, this is fantasy - and the fantasy is that someone will like you - better yet, more than one person will like you and you get to pick the best of the lot. not throw yourself att them like the PRIIIIIZE.
it's not that the guys aren't cool squadmates, all the characters are well written. just they come off as very boring romance wise if they just don't seem interested in shep without her throwing herself at them like tramps.
okay, go ahead and hate me if you like, but that's my criticism of the writing there.

Femshep behaving towards Jacob is a little trampish IMO, but I don't see the rest of your argument.  I sense jealousy in your post.

buahhahahaha!

really? you...

hahahaha!

that's funny.

yes. i am jealous of bella who has an icecube and a puppy in love with her.

or...not.

i really can't defend myself against a charge of jealousy without talking about my personal life, which is not something i'm going to do.

not sure if you're a guy or a girl, if you read romance ever, whatever.  the point is this: interested in interesting. people want to be wanted, women and men. that's what makes for good romance plots - the characters actually connect and want each other. me2 really didn't read that way for femshep.

there, i actually bothered to restate my point. but...you'll probably just ignore it and throw another ad hominem attack at me....geh...why do i bother? (because the movie is boring...)

Relax a little=p:innocent:

Jealous of what exactly? I'll admit to some jealousy, namely, that as I'm not a male gamer wired to appreciate all the female eye candy in the game, I   feel like I'm missing out on part of the experience.

Mind you, I don't expect that design aesthetic to change, but when I read something like the OP's points, I just think "Say what?".   It's kind of like being a vegetarian in a steak house, picking over your luke-warm side salad, while the meat eater stands up and complains that his filet mignon was just a tad overdone and he wanted hamburger anyway.   Well, let me pull out the tiny violin for you dude.

I do agree with Sagequeen's point, though,  that having someone interested in you is attractive, but there's also the "hard to get"storyline, which can be fun in its own way.    In the Sci-Fi genre, the first version  that comes to mind is Stargate SG-1's storyline of Vala's  (the awesome Claudia Black) pursuit of Daniel (the equally awesome Michael Shanks).   She's pretty over the top in her pursuit, but it worked with her character and his.  Unfortunately, I can't say the same about femshep's pursuit of Jacob.

Why would it matter if they were alien or sapient?  The classification still fits, and the social and biological incompatibilities are the same.

Uh, no it isn't. A sapient alien species like the Turians is not the same as a "relationship" with a dog. Turians are sapient, dogs aren't.

huh. funny how the thread derailed...and became a question about Miranda being a skank, whether women would throw themselves at men in the future, when the original post was about bioware's romances only bothering to appeal to the men.

there's something profound in there, i'm sure....

so in answer to your original thought, liso: i'm with you. i think the BW romance options for the females are somewhat hit and miss. the characters are good, but i think the overall writing of how they unfold does not really do what female fans (in general - this is a broad statement i know) would like them to do (DAO?) and it's really kind of funny, because romantic fiction that appeals to women is out there and it generally follows some pretty pat plot devices.  at the very least, it is weird that you're on a cerberus HUMAN mission and there's only 1 guy for femshep.

ah well. i hear you liso. i'll let the flame war continue.

I think some girlgamers like sagequeen, are expecting a romance novel in the game.  That is not what it is though.  That is not where thier sales are at.
I watched a little SG-1, but not as much as you have though.  TBH personally I don't focus much at all on the romances in the game.  I don't have any interest in ME2 LI's either though.  I did all of the LI romances once for the experience.  My favorite character is not romancable.:( I may change my tact in future playthroughs though and focus a little more on the LI's.
