Yes, because there are no such a thing as a gay gamer?  Regardless. that is not what i meant in the least. I am talking about the structure of the romance. Not having the option of lesbian sex. Which they did give you in ME1. maybe they were worried about redundancy. who knows.

What about the 'structure' of these romances makes you believe they were written with male gamers (not female gamers) in mind?  I thought all the romances in the game, male and female, were similarly structured.  You talk to them a few times, they express interest in you, you say 'Oh, me likey you too!' and then BAM!.....love scene.

I liked Alistair too. As a matter of fact. I liked ME2 more than DA:O when it came to having fun.. but the romance.. I just can not wrap my head around that one...

Well said.  And yes, there are gamers who are women.  Really.  I actually got hooked on Bioware because of Dragon Age, which has terrific plotlines for female characters--  not just the romances, but the way some of the Origins are treated.  So the CAN create good romance plotlines.  And I do like the way Shepherd is a strong female lead who doesn't look like a tart.  But she just doesn't have many options in terms of off duty time.

Double :sick:  Jacob is good looking, and seems okay until you talk to him.  Then your character turns all sex kitten/stalkerish and you're like WTF??  And he's got some GREAT lines like "Miranda needs a better man than me.  BTW, you free on Friday?"  Yeah, I did the Jacob romance, but only because I was curious if he got better (big diff between RL and a game, for the record).  He didn't.  Should have sent him on the vent mission instead of Legion :P

I did the Garrus and Thane romances, too.  I'll differ with the OP, I thought Garrus was kinda cute in a buddy with benefits sort of way.  By cute, I mean with my eyes closed.  Ditto for Thane.  I mean, the guys chase a few aliens, but they either look like people (Asari) or have a spacesuit veil on (Tali).  I'm just not into manibles and frog faces, sorry.

Again, Bioware did a great job with DA, so they can in Mass Effect.

I have not played the male romances but have seen them on youtube.  It's just not clear to me how they are worse than the female ones, judging by their structure.

Doesn't DA and ME have different teams, though?

Speaking as someone who have seen every peice of every romance in ME2 i still do not fully understand your reasoning behind saying that the structure is written for male gamer. Care to enlighten us so we can go forward with the discussion?

This. What is it you mean?

I'm female, and honestly I think the female romances are just as loving and intimate. Maybe they don't always fade with the two characters on top of each other like male ones do, but I don't think the Garrus one is overly cheesy. I think it's just the right amount of cheesy. I also thoroughly enjoyed the Mordin talk, it was humorous.

It's a sad fact yes, but there are more male gamers than female. Even with us girl gamers on the rise there is a significantly lesser amount. Bioware has to accomodate the larger audience, so in the first game I agree the romance options were awful for us girls. Kaidan is an annoying buttfluff, even if he is voiced by Carth Onasi. :|
However in ME2 I think Bioware did an excellent job with the evening out of romantic options, and I don't see where you're coming from.

Technically ME1 did not have any lesbian sex. It only had straight, straight, or blue unisex alien.

Yes, Asari do look like blue women but they are not, they aren't human and they aren't a woman.

They are no more a "she" than your computer is a "she"/"he" because you refer to it as such.

Bioware wanted to make them more relatable but they really should have opted for a unisex look.

Just 'cos they say it's something doesn't mean it actually is.
Besides, Asari in game are often referred to as female, so even the denizens of the galaxy think of them that way.

Monosexual.

I'm willing to trust the Codex more than Mr. Woo.

Agreed.  :)  They are refered to as female though. and have daughters..  So it is some sort of identity gender crisis on Biowares part.

Having said that. I came to a final conclusion. I am sad that it seems that the Bioware writers created the female romance options, not for female players. It is geared for the male players, playing female characters. All for kicks and giggles. Between the comments that Solis makes, and the scenes themselves. This could not have possibly been intended for the female player.

Just reread all your posts and this was the closed to an explanation i could find. It dosnt mention structure at all. It is also very vauge in that it dosnt point at any specific point during any romance at all.

So let me restate me question: Can you elaborate on why you think the romances and their structures are aimed at male gamers?

"sighs"

My point was, it is a mockery of a romance. All some huge joke. I fear you are inclined to argue no matter what I say. So I'll just agree to disagree with you..

I'm not getting it either. Is it mostly the alien thing or just you think they're more dull in general? I could understand thinking they're less interesting all in all and I agree, but I don't see how they're written with male gamers in mind. I'm playing a femshep for the first time and I like Thanes' so far.:? Jacob's is just creepy.

Also, this is my new favorite word.:

 buttfluff,

Thane was the only option I took because how well his persona came through. I actually stopped seeing him as frog man.. and focused on the personality in general. I made ME1 characters with no romance for ME2.  Oh well.

I repeat! Regardless. I had an amazing fun time playing the game in general.

Im not going to disagree with you if your reasoning is solid. My problem is i just dont get it atm and i am trying to do so. To better understand your reasoning i have asked you twice to explain it - or simply elaborate that is all. I do appologise if my last post came of as hostile - while i can understand that being so, my intent was never to sound hostile.
