I like Thane and all but he as a LI comes off like you say Final Fantasy crap and not the good ones(4 to 6)Miss Yuna of Atlanta wrote...

That's sweet of you, and I'm sorry in advance to Thane's fans(of which I am one) if I was too scathing in my remarks. To be fair, though, my Shepard romanced Liara in the first game, then played through without romancing anybody so I could have adorable turian forehead kisses in the second.

Of the female romances, Garrus' came off the best IMO, but that was mainly due to the hilarious dialog and their past history. Jacob's could've been good but he just wouldn't open up which I found to be especially bad for a romance. Thane's was overly melodramatic.

I think the bigger problem is that Shepard comes off very poorly, female wise.

Jacob romance is the worst of the bunch. Avoid it like the plague.
Watch the youtube video for the lolz if you want, but that's all I'd recommend.
No it isn't. Jacob's romance is well-written and well-paced. The actual paramour scene is extremely campy, but that's a minor scratch on one of the game's more well-written subplots. The worst of the female player's romance subplots is Thane. There are two scenes of sappy, artificial dialogue culminating in a vomit-inducing festival of Final Fantasy-esque melodrama. I am fond of Thane as a character, but the writing staff dropped the ball on his romance subplot.
The worst of them all, though, is Jack. Again, I adore her as a character, but the transition from "I'm a dangerous, angry head-case" to "oh god, I'm so vulnerable, Shepard, hold me and protect me with your mighty penis" is shockingly abrupt. I don't understand why it's so slapped together. BioWare's writing staff usually excels at pacing..
Well I don't.

any form of romance is lame (waste of time, pointless, confusing... how can one guy date 4 different people at once without 1 to all of them not having problems? sounds stupid. )... especially bro-mance, lame (gay).AwesomeEffect2 wrote...

Jack/Thane = the dramatic and emotional most likely short lived relationship
Tali/Garrus = the taboo best buds but this could never work for all sorts of reasons but lets give it a shot.
I'm actually really interested in the possible Samara Romance in ME3

Tali: for guys with a hero complex
Jack: for guys wanted to save the girl
Miranda: for guys wanting a strong woman
Jacob: for girls who like the nice guy
Garus: for girls who like the bad boy renegade
Thane: for girls who are into the tragic figure
Personally, I couldn't go for Garrus or Thane - they're a little too alien for me. But guys are stereotypically more interested in looks. Jacob seems pretty hot, though. However, it seems few girls are into the nice guy so I can see why he's uninteresting.

A lot of girls don't like Jacob because he kind of treats you like he only wants a booty call. I mean, he calls you 'the prize', basically.

This is Shepard we're talking about. Shepard could date every possible LI at the same time and would make it work. Shepard just needs a lot of charm or intimidate.

Personally, I prefer ME (1)'s romance scenes anyway. They're less oriented for a specific gender and have more substance. But that's just me.

Garrus probably is the best female LI in ME2. I especially like his line "I don't have a fetish for humans or anything..." But it only feels more weighty because of his history with Shepard in ME1. Their interaction strictly within ME2 is pretty limited (finish those stupid calibrations, already).
I haven't done the Thane romance yet, but it seems pretty emo from what I've seen. I like Thane, but he's too fish-eyed for me to think he's shagworthy. And what was that about his skin chafing Shepard's? Ick. I get a "Twilight Edward" vibe from Thane, for some reason.
Kaidan and Liara are still the best FemShep romances overall, in my opinion.

My psycho renegade Soldier did this very thing. He volunteered, and she had already hit it and quit it.

Thane-"Have I ever told you you remind me of my dead wife?"
