It's silly to assume that all ME players feel exactly the same way you do about the romance stuff. Play the game the way you like it--romanceless or not, alien LI or not, whatever. If you can't find a ME2 LI that you like, that's your cue to stick with what you had (or didn't have) in ME1, or wait til ME3 to see if there's fresh booty.

In ME 1, I wanted Garrus as me LI so badly, and even tried with him before I realized it wasn't possible (I thought all party members were romanceable).

Jacobs reminded me too much of a booty call, but it was nice to finally see a sexy side to fem-shep (overly sexy imo)
Garrus was the awkward "i think i like u more than a friend deal", but it worked due to his past with shepard.
Thanes (my personal favorite) was touching, but i didnt like the whole "u remind me of my wife" thing, BLEH!
P.S. A chakwas romance would blow my mind

It is geared for the male players, playing female characters. All for kicks and giggles. Between the comments that Solis makes, and the scenes themselves. This could not have possibly been intended for the female player.
I am a female gamer playing a female Shep and I got exactly what I wanted romance-wise. Thane is gorgeous and Garrus is who I wanted in ME1 instead of being stuck with a dull human (plenty of humans in real life and I'm already in love with the best human guy IRL, so no need to bother with them... except Alistair <3) and a repulsive female lesbiansexxorz fanservice.
So far, Bioware is on the right track with me!
Agreed, look I don't think the writers did anything wrong with the female romances except not put enough dialogue. And, well, Jacob. I love Garrus and I thought Thane was a wounderful character. I didn't like the romance options in ME 1, you either got Kaiden or another female, and I ain't into chicks. So I was VERY happy with ME 2's romances. And I don't see how men would enjoy seeing femshep get with two guys of another race or Jacob. It just doesn't make ANY sense.

It's probably silly of me, but I'll bite... My impression is, she's just glad to find someone who can see through the facade, and actually care; it's been a while since the last time she met someone like that, and it didn't end well. She doesn't "ask Shepard to protect her with his mighty penis", and it's not like Shepard makes all her problems go away by sleeping with her, but it's a start for something that will hopefully be expanded in ME3.Miss Yuna of Atlanta wrote...
The worst of them all, though, is Jack. Again, I adore her as a character, but the transition from "I'm a dangerous, angry head-case" to "oh god, I'm so vulnerable, Shepard, hold me and protect me with your mighty penis" is shockingly abrupt. I don't understand why it's so slapped together. BioWare's writing staff usually excels at pacing.
Maybe those guys identify with the character they have their femShep romance... (if that sense makes any sentence).LadyPaine wrote...

And that's just form the girls geeky enough to speak up. There are even more casual ones out there who don't feel the need to hang about the forums.

First let me say, Garrus is a cool buddy. but a romance option? Maybe if my character was addicted to red sand and Garrus had her next fix.
I liked the Garrus love scene, but I just LOL'ed hard when I read that, too damn funny!
