Need more data.
Do you play other shooters? What about fighting games (e.g. Tekken)?

Well, take me for an example. I'm a tactical player.
I mainly play Dhalsim and Guile in Street Fighter 4, and win with zoning and chip damage. Then on occasion I play Honda and assault my opponent relentless.
It's got to do with the character you play determining your style, and by all accounts vanguard is the most addictive in ME2.

ME1 is a very different game, though.
My ME1 vanguard had a sniper rifle and used lift and assassinate, and adrenaline rush to recharge lift and assassinate ...

Dude, that's just common sense. At the end of the day, it's last man standing, right?

The only problem I have with vanguards is Charging into midair, or partway into a wall... otherwise I'm a tidal wave of biotics crashing down on my opponents (unless they are shielded, then I take cover until the shields break)

I started with infiltrator, squads provide fire supression while I snipe the enemy off, Soldiers works to as a balanced offensive/ defensive class, infiltrator though is offensive and stealthed

I'm usually not a very aggressive player as well. Which is why my main class is Infiltrator. However, when I played Vanguard I loved it!!!! It is an amazing class! It took a while to get used to being that aggressive in ME, but once I did, it rocked!
