The rest of my typical party was Alistair, Leliana, and Wynne; Al to pull mobs off the other two, Leliana for doors/chests/traps, and Wynne to keep them alive.
Currently experimenting with an "Evil" necromacer-style blood mage; Intentionally siding with the "wrong" choices when it won't permanently cost me party members.

I have a few characters, 2 of them are mages who have completed both Dragon Age games, and the third character I need to delete since I tried the exp glitch, my recent character is a warrior currently in Lothering at about level 7.
My first mage was a human I named him SUB-ZERO. I intended to have him focus on cold magic. As this was my first character and since at the time I was fairly new to RPGs only having played Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance 2 on PS2 a few times I was fairly unexperienced with what to specialize in so he didn't specialize in anything, not shapeshifting, not bloodmage, not healer, not arcane warrior. Suffice to say, I was more pleased with the results of my second mage (described next). SUB-ZERO's spells included all of the Ice ones and fire from the primal tree. I had lightning and shock. Also had death magic like walking bomb, death syphon, and the other two. Then the four from the draining tree: drain life, death magic, death cloud etc.
The second mage was a dark skinned with white hair (intended to be a dark elf) elf named ÊÆRL STÕRM. He was much more powerful as I had much more experience with RPGs this time around. He has the four fire spells and ice spells. Also has lightning, shock and tempest. Stone fist and rock armor. He had heal. Also all four summoning spells: spell wisp, grease, spellbloom and stinging swarm. He uses all four hex spells. As for specializations he became an arcane warrior early in Awakening and in addition to that uses all 4 of branch 1 of the arcane tree. He is also a blood mage who uses the first three spells of the specialization but blood wound almost exclusively in terms of the blood mage spells. He was named ÊÆRL STÕRM because I had a vision of a character who would unleash powerful long lasting storms of many different elements that would take out large groups of enemies effortlessly. I'm very pleased with him. Hes just awesome.
My third Warden ws just a dalish elf warrior, mainly because I wanted to see the origin story and thats about it.
My fourth Warden is a human warrior named KRAD WOLF (just "dark" spelled backwards then wolf) currently in Lothering around level 7, so far I'm not quite sure how to build him and I made a thread about it to get some opinions. My plans for him are to make him a beastly berserker as well as reaver or a champion.
Update: Krad Wolf has beaten Origins and Awakening and finished at level 31. He had really good armor (Clamshell armor) and the Vigilance sword with enchantments.
I've also I just recently finished a level 30 female Orlesian rogue warden in Awakening; her name is Lilly Bourreau, and she's probably the one I had the most fun with. She doesn't last long if the Mother or an Ogre grabs her, but she more than makes up for it when using momentum and two enchanted daggers. Too bad I couldn't stay in stealth for entire battle sequences though, she'd have entire rooms of darkspawn cleared in about 10 seconds. She specialized in assassin, duellist, and bard talents. And she's the perfect female warrior, she's got the looks, the intelligence, and the cunning to win.

She was specced to be the main tank of the group, so she didn't deal a lot of damage. Had given her enough strength to wear the best massive armors in the game (42) enough cunning to max Coersion (Circle Tower did most of that) and then put the rest into dexterity. She was remarkably hard to hit/grab/knock down/etc. Maxed out Sword and Shield, as well as had all the Warrior talents (mostly for the achievement). I also managed to max out the Templar and Champion talents. Templar really made a difference with dealing with those pesky spell slingers.
In my current game, I'm playing a female elf mage (profile picture). I'm only at Lothering, but I'm planning on getting Blood Mage when I get the opportunity (haven't unlocked it yet). I'm not sure what other spec I'll do. Maybe Arcane Warrior? I'll have to decide soon. >.>

I might get fireball in the higher levels, is a good opener and knocks the robe wearers down too ...
Can't wait for blood-wound and shimering shield etc
Templars are enemy number 1 though!
*update - blood wound is AWESOME! as is shimmering shield ... fights go bloodwound - virulent walking bomb - grease - fireball ... KABOOM! KABOOM! KABOOM! Have naked wynne cast affliction hex sometimes but not necessary really ...
