Well since I don't  really tend to worry about the order in which I get upgrades until after Horizon so I've always just recreuited people in order.

I was just curious if anyone else does this? You get into a rythm where you recruit people in a certain order.

For me it usually goes

Mordin -> Garrus -> Grunt -> Jack

Almost always.

In fact I have never deviated from that.

I usually go Mordin-Garrus-Jack-Grunt. I've mixed up the order but I usually get Mordin first (other than zaeed)

I generally go Garrus>Mordin>Jack>Grunt. I figure that from a story perspective Garrus is in more immediate danger than the rest of them, then Mordin. Jack and Grunt are in stasis, so they can wait.

My 3rd time playing the game from begining I started with Grunt then Jack then Mordin finally Garrus

Different aproach will not alter the course of the game, but If you dont have Mordin you cant upgrade stuff I just did it for dialogue exploring, How the other squad mates will react to the firsts stages in different order, like Jack and Grunt at the Omega Dossiers

It depends what class I am playing and what upgrades I'm after.

Mordin First, always. Get those lab upgrades going right away. get the Rocket Launcher in order to recruit Garrus.... Jack next, then Grunt.

If your a good player, you will have the will to do which ever order, meaning youll have more fun or challenge getting Mordin last, upgrades not needed(eventually will), skill is required more than anything.

I'm also one of the Mordin -> Garrus -> Grunt -> Jack people. Although sometimes I'll grab Garrus before Mordin. Actually the first person I grab is Zaeed, but he doesn't count since he's always waiting near the Omega dock for you. I wonder where Kasumi will be? Illium perhaps?

Hmm ... I tend to mix up the order every time, but I seem to be in the habit of most often:

Mordin - (Zaeed's Loyalty) - Grunt - Garrus - Jack

Mordin - Get my Upgrades opened up so I can start getting my Assault Rifle and Sniper Rifle Damage Upgrades.

Garrus - As a Soldier, the Vindicator is my weapon of choice. I've considered going for Garrus first, but decided that upgrades were more important than the Vindicator.

Grunt - No real reason; he just didn't fit anywhere else.

Jack - There's a ton of Power Cells, so this is a way to fill up my Arc Projector before heading to Horizon. I can slam through both the initial Harbinger fight and deal substantial damage to the Praetorian with that thing. Having as much ammo as possible before heading in gives me a lot more breathing room in terms of how many shots I can waste.

Tali - I love Tali, so she's always the first I pick up. Not only that, but the fight with the Geth Collossus is actually pretty cool.

After that, Samara and Thane are just whichever one I feel like doing first.

Depending on my mood, I'll recruit either Mordin or Garrus first. If I ask Aria about Archangel, then that's who I go after first, because he seems to be in more immediate danger. But sometimes I only ask about Mordin, get him, then go back and ask about Archangel.

After that, it's always been Grunt then Jack. This is because having Grunt on Purgatory is a major source of amusement to me. One time I went for Grunt first, just so I could see what he had to say for the Omega recruitments.

The first time I played the game, I went for Tali after Horizon. Since then, she tends to be last. This is because I usually get two recruitments after Horizon before being forced to do the Collector ship, so doing the ones on Illium feel like killing two birds with one stone. This wasn't an issue until I started using SMGs more and realized the Tempest was collected on Haestrom.

No wait, Legion tends to be last. 'Cause, uh, then the crew gets kidnapped and I feel like a dick if I don't go after them right away. Luckily he was the last recruited the very first time I played the game as well, so I had all the upgrades ready to go once the crew was kidnapped.

This is the order of recruitment with my last Paragon playthrough:

1. Mordin
2. Grunt (Brought Mordin along for unique dialogue)
3. Garrus (Brought Zaeed and Grunt along for unique dialogue)
4. Jack (Brought Garrus and Grunt for unique dialogue)

On my last Renegade plathrough:

1. Grunt
2. Garrus
3. Mordin (Brought Grunt and Garrus so that I could expose them to the plague)
4. Jack

I would either go Jack-> Grunt-> Garrus->Mordin

Or Grunt->Jack->Garrus->Mordin.

Garrus->Mordin->Jack or Grunt then the other afterwards seem to help.

I am not a big Mordin fan...but man does he have some pipes.

*Horizon*

Tali -> Thane -> Samara

*Reaper IFF*

But Kasumi will be #1 from now on when she's released tomorrow!

I've been trying to mix it up. Only thing is I usually nab Jack last out of the first batch and Tali first out of the second.

Zaeed is easily first since he's right there anyway.

Mordin for the upgrades

Then Jack because her mission gives two important upgrades for a Vanguard - shotgun and uh, shields

Then Garrus and Grunt depending on my mood.

After Horizon I do the Geth climate change mission and the Strontium mule mission to get the health and damage resistance upgrades, then the rest of the missions are in no particular order.

I always get Mordin for the upgrades, then Grunt for his usefulness, Garrus and Jack.

You've mentioned that Grunt has unique dialogue in Purgatory. I've always used Garrus and Zaed for that mission. What does he say?

Zaeed and Mordin first always, followed by whatever missions gives me the weapons/upgrades I want.
