I didn't put Zaeed into account. I didn't put him on the list because on my first three playthroughs I haven't put in that DLC at all. However on my current playthroughs yeah he's been a quick grab although playing my Adapt on Hardcore I went Grunt->Jack->Zaeed->Garrus->Mordin.

My hardcore runs been CRAZY because I was checking out the FIREWALKER DLC so I wound up doing my second recruiting LATE (After collector mission).

However after Horizon it went like this I think:

Adapt (First run): Samara->Thane->Miranda loyal->Jacob loyal then collector ship->Tali->everyone elses loyal->Legion->Legions loyal->end

Vangaurd: Jack Loyal->Samara (But I switched her to Morinth later before the collector vessle)->Jacob's loyal->Collector ship->Thane->Legion->Tali->Legions loyal->everyone elses loyal->end. This was a screwy game I played because I wound up killing all the Cerberus crew except for Chakwas and Joker. Also Mordin died too.

Infiltrator: Miranda loyal (to get with her )->Thane->Samara->Garrus Loyal->Tali (I think) Collector ship->Everyone loyal->Legion->Legions loyal->End. Also sent Mordin home for achievement.



Currently my new playthroughs are like:

Soldier (Veteran):Grunt->Jack->Zaeed->Mordin->Zaeed loyal->Garrus (I set Garm on fire with the flamethrower while he's to busy shooting Garrus and Jack on archangel mission)->Horizon->Samara->Grunt loyal->Mordin loyal->Collector ship->Tali->Everyone loyal. Havent gotten done yet.

Hardocre ME1 Adapt(Veteran):Jack->Grunt->Zaeed->Garrus->Mordin->Horizon->Jack loyal (My adapts a colonist so I am RPing my shepard to have a close bond with Jack....however no G.F. sex...><. However Miranda isn't loyal to me even though I did her mission because I defended Jack in place of her. I am shooting for Pargon ending with Miranda on Normal loyalty)->Samara->Samara switch to Morinth->Collector ship->Tali->everyones loyal. Not done either.

First ME2 run Adapt (Hardcore):Zaeed->Grunt (Props to Zaeed for getting me through and impressing me on first try)->Jack (Had a difficulty setting bug. I started a Engineer on Veterand and the difficulty switch was blank. I looked at my other characters and saw the same thing. After I saved the game, quit the game, rebooted the game, finished getting Jack it said that my Difficulty setting was on Veteran not Hardcore. I was like "No wonder that mish was easy.")->Garrus(Had a hard time with the mech. I am guessing the speed of hacking gets faster on harder difficulties?)->Mordin->Horizon->Collector ship (Was to busy checking out the FIREWALKER DLC so I was soooooo screwed over. I lowered difficulty to get through)Jacob Loyal->Samara->Thane->Tali->Everyone elses loyalty. Not done here. I swear these bugs have been killing me.

Mordin first, after that everything depends on upgrades. When playing Vanguard always get Jack second - Shotgun upgrade (with the upgrade at Omega you can research the piercing rounds bonus (very effective). Playing Soldier (who likes AR) get Grunt or Garrus asap (AR upgrade or Vindicator).

Same after Horizon, do the recruitment mission to get the gun you need (Scimitar, Tempest or Viper).

Garrus -> Mordin -> Jack -> Grunt.



Garrus because he is a cool character, Mordin then since I'm on Omega anyway and I can unlock the lab. Jack because I like the Purgatory mission and the fight with Warden Kuril. Grunt is a cool squadmate but his recruitment mission is a little dull.



Tali -> Thane -> Samara



I recruit Tali first because of the mission taking place on Haestrom and I don't want to go to Illium right after the Horizon mission.

Usually I go with Mordin first thing for the lab, but I have recruited in pretty much every order possible to see different crew reactions on the missions. Taking Grunt/Garrus into the plague area for example was well worth it. I recently finished an entire playthrough with Kasumi just to see her reactions.

Always Mordin... need to unlock upgrades on NG+ Insanity.
