1. A fully customizable protagonist in an exhaustive (in terms of dialogue, choices and content) RPG that is voiced.
2. The imported save. And I focus here on the sheer number of choices and content (no matter how seemingly insignificant).
3. The cinematic video game. Specifically, storyline and visuals—not cut scenes (necessarily). Every conversation or minor action is displayed in a cinematic way.
4. Choices and consequences as more significant and real from game to game (ME1 to ME2, etc).
5. Action-driven plot (the interruption system).
6. Strong, female protagonist and leader. I cannot think of another game that matches Commander Shepard in this capacity. There are a few select games that feature a female protagonist, but more often than not, she is hyper-sexualized. The games that do feature a strong, female protagonist without focusing on her sexual appeal have been adventure games. It is obviously easier (and less risky) to have male protagonists (considering the gaming community).

name one other thanWrex that had a SIGNIFICANT gameplay effect and wasn't just fluffy text.
Valve get the votes cause ME2= Epic lose as a sequel.

Well, now you're going to have to provide me with your definition of "fluffy text" because I could simply name most of the choices that transfer from ME1 to ME2, which was a huge factor in my point. The fact that choices can be transferred in the first place makes them more significant almost by default since no other RPG does this on such an epic scale.
I do think it's interesting that you seeme to base your opinion on a single Bioware game being "epic lose." I think Valve is great, but simplified overhead statements are...not very informative.

People at escapist are cheating for Valve, too, btw. (mods on the forum)
I cannot recall if cheaters get their votes disqualified or not. I originally voted with my facebook account, but the idea of everyone seeing my whole name whenever I posted was slightly uncomfortable, so I created another account--without voting again of course--but I wonder if that will be held against me. Hm...

Valve? Seriously?? I mean, I like valve games, but they haven't done anything in forever, unless I've been asleep and they did? What was the last thing they did L4D2? Not even a "must a play" game. Bioware keeps crankng out greats. I thought this would boil down to Bioware versus infinity ward ( or some other "in the moment" johny come lately developer). I don't even know how valve made it to the final. Lots of voter stuffing/forum spamming I guess. Bethesda and Bioware destroy valve for non-online stuff, and Blizzard destroys them on online stuff.
....wow.
Left 4 Dead 2 came out, what, 4 months ago? And that's "nothing" to you?
And they're constantly releasing new content for Team Fortress 2.
AND they're porting Steam and ALL of their games to Mac.
I was on the fence, but for all that ignorant trashing, I'm voting Valve.
MAGGOT!

Yeah, I agree with you. And the Passing DLC for L4D2 coming soon, for free for PC user, and the tie in DLC in L4D1... for free again.
And Portal 2 coming soon?
And the constant support for TF2?
And Episode 3 at some point?
And the hours of incredibly memorable gaming moments that Valve have provided?
Valve all the way.
(At least they support PC users, rather than treating us like something of an embarassment)

Yeah, if Bioware's fans want any evidence that Valve deserves to be there, they need to play Portal.
Bioware's games are great, but Portal is the singular masterpiece which elevated video games from simple entertainment to true art.

Portal was "bought and paid for" not developed by Valve.
L4D2 was a complete waste of 50 bucks as far as I'm concerned. It's like 2 hours of gameplay, and other than that its just an expansion to to a game you most likely already own.
Valve has't done anything since half life that impressed me.
As a developer they are second tier now.

You know, except for the fact that it's the same length has the first game, has more than twice as many weapons, numerous new multiplayer modes, and has spun in my 360 for over 200 hours.

It's an expansion pretending to be a sequel. The end. If the point is to play the game online for replayability, then the need for an expansion is minimal for that end.
