Hi listen  i like dragon age i really do, but i am getting a little sick of having to pay for every little addon  bioware can think of,. I paid good money for the collectors edition and sure got the bonus stuff which cost me a little more ok fair enough. but i would have liked to get wardens keep, and the extra mission the  return to ostagar pack the feastday items , why do i have to pay for them? when games like oblivion have 100s of  mods and items for free as do heaps opf other good titles, what pissed me off even more paid good money for awakenigs, full price which was a lot for an expansion, and got nothing downloadable with it?.
Im beginning to think they can more about making every buck possible instead of rewarding loyal fans of a good game, that im sure they have already make a very good profit from.
Come on bioware it didnt use to be this way and im sure you could throw the fans something for free cause you havnt yet ( the extra stuff in the collestors pack was im sure included in the price  for those who think it was free)
what does everyone thinkPosted Image

Nothing bad about making money - they've got bills and wages to pay until the next big thing hits the shelves.

So far I got Zaeed Massani, the Cerberus armor suit and shotgun, the arc gun and the Firewalker mission pack for free (or to be exact, the price for that was already included when I bought the sealed package at the retainer instead of going to some friend and offering him a few bucks for the game he had bought and played).

If, however, Bioware should decide at any time that they will make an editor available for me to build some side missions on my own and to share them with others, provided I don't charge money for them - I think I have a few ideas. Whether I'm up to the challenge is another question.

Then don't be a loyal fan. Be a normal fan.

Seriouslyif you sink in too deep, you'll start getting delusions that you have entitlements that they are obligated to fulfill.

no one is forcing you to buy these downloadable contents, right?

bioware is a company, and like every other company they need money to be able to create these amazing games. in return we support them with our money so they can make more awesome games we can spend our money on...

and they give out contents for free, take mass effect for example

Not to mention they have been very supportive of their fans, look at Ubisoft making AC2 online-only or EA making a trash game (C&C4) with the same problem.

Bioware wishes to make money sure, but the amount of detail and work they put into their games - its money worth spent. Yet they are not stupid enough to deprive us of our fun out of greed like other companies. Not to mention that the Shale DLC for DA:O was free so is Cerberus Network for ME2 and the Batarians in ME1.

Your argument fails. Bioware is NOT ALL about making money.

To put it nicely, they "care for the fans"

To put it bluntly, they like every other company prioritise first and foremost, the financial/legal/etc matters first. That's why you see how they didn't fight for the bazaar to be global, that's why Kasumi comes with a price tag. Pleasing the fans is sort of the thing that you do only if you can afford to do it.

all successful companies are about making money first and foremost. some methods are just better than others at managing other variables simultaneously.

Having my own business nowadays has made me realise there has to be a balance.

Sure, customers can come in and compliment my work and my pride in delivering and send all their friends my way but I still have to charge them obviously. Got a wife and daughter to feed, this is life. "Loyal customers" I can't even give discounts no matter how much I want to, it would be unfair to the new ones. I've done what I can, giving free drinks to orders over $50, working over-time in case they come in when they shop is closing, and regulars sometimes I let them pay me back later.

Last year everything has gone up in price and I had to do what is necessary as well - charging more. It's just business. If things were different sure, everything would be free. But this is life. If you have your own business one day you will understand. Bioware has done great in my opinion.

However, if they decide to install online-only DRM like what Ubisoft is planning for all future games or taking content off games just to charge for it later in DLC - that's pretty much the same as me spitting on the meals I serve my customers. Looking at their history however - they are FAR ABOVE such pathetic corporate acts. Bioware's a good company, end of story.

Dragon Age also has free mods and free items for download.
You also had to pay for some oblivion dlc, some of it sucked.
Oblivion has had modders for years now. Dragon age about 6 months.
BioWare is trying out new ways to increase revenue and also keep their games being played on peoples systems.
Like has been said before and will continue to be said. If you don't like it, send BioWare the biggest message you as a customer can, don't buy their stuff.

You think bioware only cares about money? You obviously haven't heard about this cool company called Activision then.

Bioware is a commercial organisation. The zeroeth line of any commercial organisation's mission statement is MAKING PROFIT.

Think I had that during my first week of economics & trade lessons in highschool..

Think I learned that when I was four and put on plays for my family that cost a silver coin donation. :P

If you didn't know what you were getting into, it's your own fault. Why should the people at BioWare work for free just because you're a loyal fan?

I'm a die hard Bioware fan and I'm not irked by the the fact you have to pay US$7 for an hour and a halfs worth of DLC (e.g. Kasumi). Think about what else you could get for that kind of money. Not a lot.

Irrelevant. There's a difference between a company that wants to make money and company that only wants to make money.

Let me finish this for you.  All companies NEED to make money.
