What is so glorious about going to the Deep Roads? It's seems more like suicide to me.

Anyway my character would first try anything to stop the taint from spreading. If that doesn't work I could always try taking some poison.

I had asumed it would end with the warden charging into the deep roads with the LI, unless that was Morrigan, but I'd forgotten Alistair, I suppose it would make sense that you might go at the same time either way. I hope you bring Alistair and your romance, that way I'd have a mage, a rogue and a warrior, I might even pass straight through the deep roads and come out the other end.

Either way, I hope the end is a playable event, it wouldn't be the first time the PC dies at the end of a game and it would be a pretty conclusive end, no importing to worry about later on.

No death by calling for me or any other Wardens. I saved the Anvil and Branka owes me and Id pretty sure she would be happy to have a steady stream of Grey Warden Golem volunteers since isnt sacrifice and fighting against the spawn what Wardens are all about and if a little pain now lets you do so for a few hundred extra years why not? Think of it by the time the next Blight Rolls around theres the regular few hundred Wardens and poptentialy thousands of Warden Golems ready with combat capabilites and all their Darkspawn related expertise.

Hmmm it would also depend on who's Calling comes first on my Dalish. I hated the Deep Roads and my Dalish never wanted to be a GW. If her Calling came first she would probably return for one last goodbye to her clan (after spending a life fighting darkspawn and recruiting for the Order) and go into the woods (maybe take some fast acting poison) find a pretty spot to look up at the trees and then bottoms up. If Alistair's comes first then she would join him in the Deep Roads (as i can't see him taking the suicide option).

I know my Mage will find a way.

*Avernus? Are you done yet?*

Also, the Architect seems to know a way to stop the taint, since Seranni seemed to be in pretty good health.

My PCs and their love interest would end up taking some nice slow poison and then engage in very hot, passionate sex until they both died from exhaustion. **** the deep roads.

There are other ways to escape the taint:

1. Urn of Sacred Ashes
2. Getting a new body, like Flemeth did.

I always assumed that The Taint was more a spiritual thing that gradually manifest physically. If that is the case, then becoming a Golem woulod be the worst thing. Wouldn't they eventually go mad and succumb to the call of the Arch Demons? I thought heading into The Deep roads to slay Darkspawn was the Warden's choice of death before The Taint consumed them and they bacame Darkspawn themselves?

Avernus did live for hundreds of years by using blood magic, Still it is safe to assume he DID find a way to stop the taint, same goes for Architect.

I always assumed that The Taint was more a spiritual thing that gradually manifest physically.

I don't think it is spiritual.

No its a physicaly thing. Since becomeing a Golem gets rid of your tainted body but perserves your spirit its a win win.

That is true because the Architect had a hand in stopping the corruption through the taint for a certain person in a certain book.

@Skadi
I like the way you think. I like it indeed.

Oh right. Still, I think given the choice between Golemdom and taking a quick snifter of Andraste's ashes I'd go for the ashes every time Posted Image

My PC is a bland traditionalist. She would say farewell to her friends and remaining family. Then she would pass along her best equipment to a protégé and an item or two to a favored relative. After that it's into the Deep Roads for one last hurrah.

Her dying father told her Couslands always did their duty. Her mother said to do what is right. My character left her dying parents promising to heed their dying wishes. She is not going to settle for anything less than honoring their memory. Moreover, she would want to be as brave in the twilight of her life as her mother was in those final, desperate moments.

Not sure why people are expecting a miracle cure from Avernus- he himself is experiencing his calling, judging by his notes.

Being a hopeless romantic, of course I expect that my warden and her LI would die together, one way or another. The PC and Alistair are likely going to experience the calling around the same time. The only thing that would throw a kink into the works would be the unlikely event of a child being born, in which case I suppose one or the other might hold out longer if the child needs them. I have no doubt that Zevran would want to go out with his warden lover. He would probably stick around only long enough to see that s(he) was gone, with a minimum of suffering.

If you've read the Calling you'll know that it's not pretty. It's not just nightmares - you start to feeling the calling of the old gods, hence the name. After a while, you also start to show signs of corruption - black blotches on the skin and so forth. Hopefully Avernus can come up with something - he seems to have done pretty well himself - but if not, then find another way.
I don't think the female wardens can end up as brood mothers - they'd be too old and infertile by that point.

That can't be generalized. I have a 50year old friend who just had a baby. Entirely an accident, but it can happen. Even the mere possibility of becoming a broodmother is enough for my PC to make sure that it will never happen.

I'm betting your friend hasn't drunk darkspawn blood, though. Posted Image

Hmmmmm I got one PC/Alistair all lined up and ready to go...

Now my dwarf/Zev..... he is n expert assassin.... maybe she 'll just ask him to cut her throat or stab her or something..

Yeah... traveling down caverens full of darkspawn.... not pretty

What's the connection with a Female PC and a Broodmother? All of mine would gladly die before becoming that!

I am sure Zevran would have something in his assassin apothecary that would be quick and painless, and would certainly agree to help his lover do what needs to be done.  It would probably be down to whether the PC would want that or would prefer to die in battle.  My dwarf noble wants a warrior's death.  I think my elven mage would probably want to fall asleep in his arms and not wake up.

Argh, I just choked myself up.  Anyway...

Not sure what you mean by connection?  A female can be turned into a broodmother, the process of which is horrifyingly described in Hespith's chant when you encounter her in the Deep Roads.  A fate far worse than death.

Yes, but he hasn't turned into a mindless ghoul. Which does happen to a normal warden after a certain time.

My PC isn't planing to go die in the deep roads forgotten. Hence why he thought that having a god baby might be a good idea.

How do we know our warden will even experience the calling, after all we did touch the sacred ashes.

It only took a pinch to save Emon, a pinch we also touched.

But perhaps an Old God is powerful enough to cure someone from the taint.

Well more like hoping the kid  can cure his old man. Then maybe inherit the throne and create an Thedesian empire. To make his daddy proud sniff :')

But if godhood is possible then....why not? Posted Image

Imagine it. The God King Emperor of Fereldan leading his savage hordes of Darkspawn, Werewolves, Men and Dwarves against the might of Orlais and Tevinter, slaughtering all those who stand in his way. His trusted son as his dragon mount, Morrigan and Anora his pets while Loghain and Bhelen serve as his right hand men.

Glorious!
