I did think about this actually. I don't know whether the mechanics of having romance with an Elcor could be believable, so I guess that's a no-go in my book. Having an Elcor squadmate, though, that'd be awesome. If MEIII is as different to MEII as that was to ME, then it's likely there'll be a whole host of new game mechanics introduced which mean that armour and weapons for individual races can be introduced (shoulder-mounted cannons, anyone?) and even things as simple as running speeds (rather than them all being humanoid and running at the same speed, this could fix the problem with Elcor being slow and methodical).

You mean the Consort? I never thought their relationship was "romantic", more likely a kind ear to listen of Xeltan's seemingly embarrassing troubles.

Read the mass effect codex for their military, They can carry vehicle sized weapons on their shoulders. So blowem away lol

I'd have to say no to this idea. It would come off as a spoof, even if the Elcor was just a serviceman, let alone squadmate or romance option.

 it would only work as a squad member and even then the npc would have to work in a way that was useful and there are plenty of technicalities I don't want to mention

In all seriousness, I'd like to see a Volus. Right now, they're a bit of a joke race (admittedly, I love the Biotic God, too), but I think it would be interesting to explore them more. They aren't very tough physically, but neither is Mordin and he's still a fun character.

It wasn't the Consort, but it was deffinatly an Asari.

Besides, asari don't mate by filling holes with sticks, they mate via vulcan mind meld.
