Hi all,

I've made some charaters and uploaded them to this place.

Problem is this is not the computer I'll be playing on, is there a way to download them from here using the Character editor is should I just go hunting for the files?

If I remember correctly, the format that the character is in on the site isn't the same format that it needs to be in for the game (Hence why console gamers can't just download the characters they made into the game upon release). But, the file for your character should be somewhere on your computer so you can just bring that over

yeah I found the files, I'll probably symbolic link the folder to my dropbox account so I can use it from any computer.

or just grab a USB and keep a copy of your character. Just make sure to update it. You probably will also need somesort of save file from the game so when you load it up on another computer, you wont just have your created character, but also where you are in the game

One of the cool things about PCs is bein able to transfer stuff from one puder to another. It would reek if we couldn't do this for our PC DA:O characters. Then again, I dunno if they're stored at this site as well or not, so that might be a cool thing to know:



If our puder blows up, does this Social Site hold a copy of our characters (that were uploaded here beforehand) for safekeeping to avoid character loss?

I wonder if downloading character's from the site might eventually be supported?



I've seen a few characters that other people have made that I'd like to take through my game just because they look so interesting. This is one of the most interesting character's I've seen around here and I've not been able to re-create him.

I'd like official word on this. I just did a clean install of Windows 7 and don't have the local files anymore, however all my characters are on the site.



Would definitely be nice if I could download them to the game...

I took a look-see at the character, & I recognize him as a character of Kevin Lynch, one of the moderators. He would know best how to recreate him.

Just PM someone and request they send you the character's .CHR file. Put it with your others (search for them) in your install (PC only) and you can select that character to edit and play.



I would hold off till the full game release though, hopefully the bugs with the character creator will be resolved either by reuniting with the rest of the game or via a patch. Then when get a .chr file, it will be just what you asked for and wont need drastic tweaking just to look like the picture that first caught your eye.

They're all gone then...

.chr files are what Dragon Age uses to keep track of the models, textures, sliders and skills you chose for your character. Its up to you to backup these.

The information you send to the social site is generated from the .chr file but its not a complete dump. Its just a few statistics and a couple of images. These files are made when you press the upload button. This little bit of data is all that remains of the characters now, you will have to recreate them by eye/from scratch.

Doh! Oh well, thanks for the info. Guess I'll have to tinker around with some more characters.
