I have hit a wall on this storyline in the Tower of Ishal. I am playing a Dwarf Warrior and have reached the upper floor. There is a large ogre guarding the beacon. I have tried every tactic I can think of with each of the 4 chars in the group, from letting Alistair tank, to using the mage as main damage, yet I still cannot get this ogre passed 50% health.
Maybe I am missing something, so I have also tried letting the NPCs distract him while I try to activate the beacon, but again, to no avail.
What am I doing wrong?
I hope someone can help.

Many thanks
Morgaen

You can't activate the beacon until the ogre is dead.

Use pots, buffs, and don't forget that flanking does more dmg.

If all else fails, just drop the difficulty to easy.

stuns are your friend, as is micro management to avoid the boulders he throws, one tactic would be to get him to follow one who runs around the room, while others keep belting him with arrows (i did that, though mainly because it kept fixating on my mage and no amount of taunting stopped him from hitting me).

I had trouble initially with him, best advice I can give is to have the mage try to paralyze it as much as possible. Also I THINK he's vulnerable to stun attacks when he picks someone up.

Other than that I have to go with NetBeans on this.

When all else fails, try run&shoot (kiting).

Try keeping the tank engaged with the Ogre as much as possible whilst everyone else attacks from the rear, or have everyone flank around the Ogre in a pyramid shape (with the focus on the tank). Shield Bash as much as possible, and keep spamming health potions. Make good use the mage buffs / Paralyze also.

Being a Rogue with posion skills, I also threw a couple acid vials whenever the attention turned to me (after clearing everyone else out of range) which did a whole chunk of damage.

Edit - too late ;)
