I think it is the best. I read somewhere that stacking of it works with automatic attacks, but not for the skill attacks. I don't know if that is true, haven't tried it yet.

Does anybody know where you find it? I didn't find it on my second playthrough and I don't know where I got it the first time.

This is where I read about stacking:

http://social.biowar...79802/1#2128776

And this is what the Dragonage Wiki says:

Tracing found in scrolls in Kal'Hirol Trade Quarter.

But I'm quite certain I did not miss anything. Hmm. Maybe random loot?

Besides the wiki translates the +2 all elements to be:

+8 = fire, cold, lightning and nature

But should it not be:

+10 = fire, cold, lightning, nature and spirit.

?

If the wiki is correct, stacking 3 Elemental Runes offers more damage, a better variety of damage (with nature), AND is cheaper than crafting 3 Paragon runes.

I didn't realize stacking elemental runes doesn't add damage with skill attacks -- that really sucks if true.  I had noticed that often, the "colored numbers" didn't register when hitting opponents... I assumed they were immune or I missed seeing it or something.  Maybe those were just skill attacks.

Almost defeats the whole damn purpose!

(reason # 58 why this game should allow for a damage log for those of us who like to see such things -- you should've saw the tantrum certain members threw when DA released in Nov and many wanted a damage log put in)

Wouldn't it be:

1 Elemental Rune = 2 Fire, 2 Cold, 2 Lightning, 2 Nature = 8 total damage

So stacking 3 Elemental Runes = 6 Fire, 6 Cold, 6 Lightning, 6 Nature = 24 total damage

Whereas stacking 3 Paragon runes = 7 F/C/Lightning, 7 F/C/Lightning, 7 F/C/Lightning = 21 total damage

And while the Elemental offers 3 more total damage, it's also a more mixed variety of damage (nature), thus less likely to be resisted, plus MUCH CHEAPER than the Paragon Runes.
