Hughgar - just popped into my head when I first found him. They're all called Hughgar, every one for every character. Once I name something I can't change it. I love dogs. Anyway and however, he was Oookums on the battlefield. "Savage him Oookums, savage the darkspawn. Rip his head off. Who's a good pup. Mummy loves you, yes she does. Choochie coo," pat, pat, pat. And then he peed everywhere. Excellent. Best NPC ever.
What was your dog's name?

First dog was Ripper, cause come on... mouth full of teeth. He needed a mean name. And he lapped up blood all of the time.
Second dog was McGonagall after http://en.wikipedia....liam_McGonagall. This is a fave pet name for me. Everyone loves a bad Scottish poet. *cuddles*
Last was Charlie ...as in All Dogs Go to Heaven. I taunt him by calling after him "You can never come back...." Also, then I get to greet him by saying "What's up, Chuck?" I just can't help myself, no matter how ashamed I feel.

Usually I call my dogs Grimm. No real reason why, besides the fact I like the Grimm fairytales and the name sounds quite suitable for a dog.

Kelemvor - From a book I read about a knight cursed with the power to transform into a giant panther. I just thought the name was rather cool.

Haha... my RL dog's name is Gambit. People always think I'm saying "Damnit" when they ask his name or I call him. Didn't really think that one through when I named him.

Like a prior poster, I generally chose "Rex" - why not use Latin for a gameworld? It seems to be suitable both as a traditional dog's name and a dignified-enough name for an intelligent animal that's a member of the team and kills darkspawn.
For somewhat similar role-playing reasons when playing a DC I chose "Endrin" (I thought, dignified, but at the same time naming the dog after the dwarven king was a suitably snide thing for a DC to do...a bit of a chuckle when later hearing about Rica's child, of course...).
