I think we can all agree that that particular news article was a hack job. Even many people at Fox News would agree.

Politics is hardly unnecessary as the very thing we are discussing deals with political pressure or concerns supposedly being the reason such issues were cut. If we started talking about the Health bill or the war in afghanistan you'd have a point. Otherwise it is a very salient issue to discuss the political forces that may or may not have influenced a decision in the game.

I honestly don't understand why there is a discussion at all.  The devs said they chose to make shepard hetero as they percieve this franchise as a third person narative, giving them the ability to make whatever decisions they want.  That is the reason they did what they did, what is there to discuss?

I read it and that is exactly what I am basing my opinion on.  They both said that it is a third person narative which means that they can do whatever they want with it and we have to accept that that is who shepard is.

I agree that they were shifty, but if you honestly think that is a good basis for discussion then you must think the US never went to the moon and that Bush was behind the 9/11 attacks.  Just remember they hit the Pentagon too.

Yeah I watched it.  Tried to make something from nothing.  The only one that had actually seen all of the content was the guy from one of those game magazines I think that was defending Bioware.

So you can make shepard male, female, paragon, renegade, straight, lesbian, but not gay because that's not who shepard is? Hmmm...

I'm not calling conspiracy, I'm just wondering WHY, if it is completely optional to even recruit a gay character at all for a male protag, that it's met with such ARRRRGGAGAGAGAGAG BAAAW DERK DERKA JIHAD.

If they were going to say their game is a third person narrative with much of the storytelling pre-decided for us, then they shouldn't have sold their entire fanbase on the concept of freedom of choice in the game, or offered a lesbian relationship in game 1 in the first place, since Shepard is supposed to be so archetypically hetero.

Because there is little tolerance for M/M in western society IMO.

True dat! Cause it's gross. Plus, haven't you heard the argument for why? If it were ok, everyone would do it! And I certaibly don't want to do it, so it must remain intolerable!

What am I supposed to say? You're a better person than I. I hate it when they go on about judging an awesome game they've never played before.

Plus Fox never really apologized. It was only that one journalist or whatever, wasn't it? Can't remember her name...

Quite clearly satire on the ways that some people aligned against homosexuality think.

Shoot I don't know.  None of the media hardly ever apologizes for anything IMO.  Stuff like that is frustrating, but you personally have no control over it.

It sounds like sarcasm, but I can't tell.  He probably wrongly assumes that I am against it.
