Really getting tired of the entitlement culture expecting every preference they have to be satisfied.
It's a narrative, not the Sims. You're playing a defined character, and they say that in both answers. No reason for them to pander, so they won't.
I noticed that it's the same for Garrus, too. Garrus and Tali actually have quite limited dialogue, now that I think about it, all the other romance options actually have a bit more developement, and the only way to get more out either Tali or Garrus is to do the romance. The Angry One wrote...

Yes, she would. Because she did. Because that's how she's written. The character, Tali, belongs to the person that wrote it. Not you.The Angry One wrote...
Would Tali really be the type to do that? Ask yourself. Really?@AngryOne
I have friends that make flirty comments with my other friends who are the same sex as they. It never goes farther than that.
That's utterly illogical, since the dialog is exactly the same aside from the cutoff point.

Ah yes "homosexuality", we have dismissed that claim.
On a serious note, the answer is simple. Tali just doesn't swing that way. That would be the lore answer. Having homosexual options is fine. But making everyone bisexual just to please everyone is cheap.

It's illogical that she would flirt with someone of the same sex, but not take it farther than that?screwoffreg wrote...
Yeah, the recorded dialogue is the same. The whole argument that is expensive actually goes against Bioware's point. Why record Fem-Shep/Tali romance dialogue, pay the VO actor their same rates, and then NOT use it?The Angry One wrote...

Look jackass I
am tired of one shot winners rolling in and missing the point. if
Shepard was REALLY defined then we'd be fine. Indications are stuff was
cut out for reasons not entirely related to story line. Maybe we are
all wrong but we are entitled to opinions. If not for those, this forum
wouldn't exist.

The interview was last month at that conference in San Fran. Bioware is staying fairly quiet about it. From their perspective that may be the best thing to do.Tooneyman wrote...

The logic is simple. People who support homosexual rights will buy the game irregardless. Homophobes would avoid buying the game if they knew homosexual relationships were allowed. Bioware doesn't want to alienate homophobic people, who are entitled to their beliefs. It's a smart marketing move, they know their customers.
That's completely correct! So you can take the characters for how they were written, or you can complain that BioWare made a decision that wasn't ideal for you.screwoffreg wrote...
Yeah, that too. We've tilted at these windmills before. The bottom line is Bioware made a business decision to not include certain options to keep their PG-13 rating. Maybe they were spooked after ME 1, maybe not. In the end, there is little we can do about it.

The copying of the dialog saves time and cash, same way that avoiding extra animated scenes saves cash.
The character was written, and the character clearly will make suggestive comments but not enter a relationship with another female.
Tali was written and that is who Tali is. And the dialog was structured in a way that saved them some money. The answer is very clear. And "logical." You just don't like it.

Doesn't the publisher have a lot of influence in this?screwoffreg wrote...

Thats not logic if your assertion is based on your feeling. I at least have proof of preexisting recorded dialogue. I have yet to hear of an instance where a game didn't sell well with an M rating because its content was too racy.
Well, there was Postal, but that game SUCKED.

Then call it poor writing if you want to. That doesn't really make a difference. The Angry One wrote...
Tali is extremely nervous about entering into a relationship with Shepard both being her respected CO and not being a Quarian.
Tali, as written, would not joke about such a thing with FemShep if she didn't intend to take it further.
The fact that she does is called poor writing.

That would mean the complaint is actually that BioWare cut some corners writing dialog. It doesn't actually have anything to do with the sexuality of the characters.Azint wrote...
So I see, there would not be so much of a problem if the characters all had the same dialogue until it came to the romance. I am beginning to grow sympathetic to this.
