So, I just finished Awakening and am contemplating the final slide of the epilogue. Do you think that it indicates the warden will be the main character for DA2 or that his/her story will continue in a second expansion? Discuss!
Two years of content is planned for Dragon Age Origins and I predict another expansion before the DA2

I do hope however that when DA 2 comes out is has the same feel as DAO. My favorite aspect of that game was personal level of relationships that I developed with all my companions both on and off the battlefield. I was thrilled to find that is was not just a dice and slice game with no emotional depth to it. I eagerly await to see what Bioware does and I hope we fans are not dissappointed with DA2.

Also, the Origins epilogue wasn't really saying the Warden would go on to do what happens in Awakening, so Awakening's epilogue doesn't mean our Warden couldn't return.

But, asuming the next game will be called Dragon Age and asuming I've understood the DA calendar, it could only be set as far as 70 years after origins, any later would be a new age...uberdowzen wrote...
I reckon there will be another expansion continuing the Warden's story and then DA2 will jump ahead to the next blight. That'd be pretty cool, if we returned and the world had changed over 2 hundred years or something.
----Spoiler, sort of----
and, asuming that Alistair was right about his "you've got 30 years" timeframe, the Origins warden should be alive for almost half of the current age, so it's not impossible that the current character could find their way into DA2.
Anyway, I'd like my current character to be concluded in the next full game, rather than an expansion, but so long as it's a good ending to the story I'm not all that bothered.

I have thought about that. The reason I dismissed that was because blights only occur every few hundred years and I'm assuming that's what the next 2 games will be about.
I'm hoping the next DAO expansion won't be focussing on the blight, as it'd be cool to see the world branch out a bit.

Keep in mind they did say there are 2 years worth of content planned to support Origins. Doesn't make sense to launch DA2 a year before their content pipeline for Origins is complete.

I see this being a likely scenario. Older games get DLCs all the time, even with the inclusion of new games in the series.

The original Baldur's Gate was the epic, sweeping chaos that would have thousands and thousands dying and turn the entire region into a killing field.
Baldur's Gate 2 was a personal story, and took place in a much larger game world that largely didn't care about you or thought you were some great hero. These places had their own problems, much bigger than yours, and you ended travelling many different parts of the world where the where the "villain" of the tale has no part in, but is an adventure of its own. Baldur's Gate 2 was much better received than Baldur's Gate 1, and the story and world had a large part to do with it. The heroic tale is a little too repetitive and you end up feeling like you are crawling through a tunnel.
The Blight in DA:O occured only in Fereldan. There are tons of countries in the continent of Thedas the story could take place, in which the Blight is nothing more than a plague taking place far away, and you don't have to be a Grey Warden.
What did Flemeth say? "Men's hearts hold darker shadows than any darkspawn? (afaik?). There is room for much more interesting villains and conflicts in Thedas.

Considering that according to the voice actress for Lilianna said that Lil will be in the next DLC, I would say DLC's are coming, how many I don't know. I do not see another expansion though, I think we will be seeing DA: 2 in Feb of 2011
I dunno, it took Bioware about a year to make Awakening, so I don't think they could update the engine and make another 80-100 hour campaign in a year. That time scale I'd say matches more closely
with an expansion.

On that same note, there's a good chance they have been working on new expansions and/or DLC for a while as well, not just Awakening. The voice actress only just got needed for her character, but development could have been far along before then.

Since the game in DA1 leave some of the plots untouched and Awakening doesnt touch some of those plots so i recognized that DA2 will continue those plots. (I wouldnt say it here since it may be spoilers)

Especially considering for the first two months Dragon Age: Origins was out, it was running between $30-40 in most retrail/online outlets.

I'd really like a prequel, maybe durring the first blight, that would be awesome.
Now that would make for an awesome game. You play as one of the first Grey Wardens ever!! You could even fight alongside Andraste herself!
