This just occured to me. The only character that can have relationships (besides the mysterious Vorcha banger) is Commander Sheperd and a person of their choosing. Wouldn't it have been interesting and dramatic if other party members had love relationships with each other? Miranda gets back with Jacob, Tali falls for Garrus. Jack has a fling with Jacob, Legion starts having intense interfaces with EDI, Joker gets laid by Jack. Their are all sorts of possible love hookups and possibliies for romance. Why is Sheperd the ONLY character in the game that can initiate Romance or Sex? <3:wub:<3

I think it's too complicated programming-wise, and could cause a lot of glitches, or they'd have to disable possible love interests for Shepard. Not only that but if two characters get together without any permission of the player, one of those characters could be the one you wanted your Shepard to romance, and then we'd have a lot of useless rants on these here forums.

All of Shepard's potential LIs are kept open for Shepard to go about wooing, and the characters who are not potential LIs either do not seem like they'd be interested in any kind of a romance (Grunt, Legion, Zaeed) or straight out say that they're not interested in a romance (Mordin, Samara).

I believe Kaidan and Ashley were originally planned to pair off if you didn't move on either of them in ME1. Would've been good, and added a whole new level to the Virmire choice.

Um did you pay attention to the game. EDI and Joker love each other in a romantic way, months before the game came out Seth spoiled it >_< Bioware better not pull that crap again with ME3. The only surprise for me in ME2 was Harbinger and how Reapers where made.

This would only work if they hooked up after Shepard had already made his choice, so depending on who you chose, your crew would form different relationships. That way you could still use the current LI savegame flags.

This could conceivably happen in ME3 after you choose between your various LI's from ME1 and 2.

I personally think only Jacob-Miranda, Joker-EDI and Tali-Garrus would get along though.
